Unable To (click) Configure Internet Connections

Q: Unable To (click) Configure Internet Connections

When I am in Internet Options, Advanced Tab, when I click on an item, it will highlight, but can't click to enable or disable. I am using Mozilla as my primary browser, but don't know if this has any relevance! One
of the main reasons is that I keep on getting an error message from Java (please see log below):-

Additionally, I also receive errors such as FDGO.exe, NTDLL.dll etc etc. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, so would much appreciate all and any help possible!

Preferred Solution: Unable To (click) Configure Internet Connections

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Unable To (click) Configure Internet Connections

Uninstall your Java and any Java plug-ins, then reboot your computer. After that, go and try the same things again in your browser options. If everything works out fine, just reinstall your Java and any plugins you may want.

I've been having a problem with my internet connection recently. It suddenly decides to stop responding and I cannot get on the internet. In the notification bar at the bottom right, I can still see I have bars, but if I try to right click to view the properties, I can't get a popup box. If I try to go through any means of finding the network connections, be it from the start menu or the control panel, it hangs on the window. Finally, whenever this happens, I cannot shut down without having to hold the power button.

On or about March 7th I was on the internet (using an unprotected wireless internet connection) and experienced mulitple, unending windows popping open. I shut my computer down manually. When I started it back up again it continued to act strangely (i.e. connecting to unsecured wireless internet connections automatically, etc.). I attempted to Restore my system, but the Restore did not "take." It looks as though upon logging off the computer eliminates the Restore and resets itself. Please review the log below and direct me as to anything that will return my computer to its original state. The computer is protected by McAffee, with all updates through 3/6/09. I've been unable to update since then. I'm also experiencing a Microsoft update window every 10 minutes or so, but I'm hesitant to allow this since I believe that this may not be a true Microsoft update at this time. Thanks in advance for all your help.

A:Unable to Connect to Internet - Proxy Server Refusing Connections

Hello, newschick! Let's start with some important instructions:
Avoid installing or uninstalling programs during the malware removal process, because doing so can cause discrepancies between the information in different log files created by different programs at different times.
Do NOT run tools such as Combofix unless instructed by a BleepingComputer staff member. These tools can break your computer if used improperly, so you should only run them if you know what you are doing or if the person who told you to use Combofix knows what they're doing.
If you want to, you should back up all important documents and files to an external storage device or online file backup service. Malware infections--and attempts to fix them--can prevent your computer from booting up, making your files unaccessable; this means that backing up your files to an USB flash drive or to an online service like Dropbox before attempting to remove malware is a good idea.
Step 1: Rkill
Please download Rkill by Grinler. Save it to your desktop.
Run the program. If you are using Windows Vista, you should right click the program and select "Run as administrator".
A Black DOS box should appear; this indicates that the program is functioning.
The program will generate a log file on your desktop. Post the contents of that file in your next reply.
Do not restart your computer until the other steps are finished.
Step 2: Please download MiniToolBox by Farbar, and save it to your desktop.

Given the proper user credentials in Windows 8.1, is it possible to programmatically create a New Incoming Connection, either via a Command Line utility or Windows PowerShell, in order to allow incoming connections VPN access using PPTP? I know I can do this via the GUI, but I'd like to do this programatically via a script of some sort. I'm aware of the port forwarding requirements / VPN passthrough of the firewall and/or router -- this isn't the issue.

I see there are a nice set of PowerShell VPN Client Cmdlets available for setting up a VPN Client, but I need something along the lines of VPN Server Cmdlets.

Any help would be appreciated,

When you use remote desktop it autmatically saves the connections in the list. This list may disappear when you do a cleanup or run any cleanup software.

Hello all,

I have recently stumbled upon the problem of: occasionally not being able to click/right click the taskbar or desktop (be it icons or highlighting).

I am currently running 32 bit Vista Home Premium, and haven't had any problems with it until today.

I have ran several antivirus scans and I am pretty sure (99%) that it is not a virus causing this problem, as even in safe mode, the problem still persists.

It is also not a problem with my mouse, as sometimes when I am able to click the desktop but not the taskbar, the mouse functions perfectly well on the desktop, but shows no response on the taskbar.

On this note, when I am not able to click the taskbar, I am also unable to click currently open windows. I am only able to access those via Alt Tab, or any function of the keyboard.

When I am unable to click the taskbar, I am still able to access start and other programs via the keyboard.

I have searched around the internet, and tried out various solutions, but none have worked so far (except the obvious "ending explorer.exe and restarting it", which solves the problem temporarily.)

Restarting my computer does not solve anything.

I have kept my computer extremely clean and I have voided it of any startup programs, hence I really do not understand the cause of my current situation.

I would greatly appreciate any help, and thank you in advance,

Gooday all. I have a laptop set up for my entertainment area. I am using an HDMI cord from laptop to a screen and using the sound output to a set of surround sound speakers. This a pretty cheap set up,nothing fancy. I am trying to get all the speakers recognized by my Realtek Sound Management application. The Lasptop (http://speccy.piriform.com/results/J...8QITBgvOYgX6Ol) is only recognizing a 2 speaker stereo set up. How am I able to change this so as to be able to adjust settings to the 6 speakers of the system. Thanks in advance.

A:Unable to configure speakers on Laptop.

Looking at the Speccy, I don't see anything other than RealTek HD Audio. If the laptop has a RealTek HD Audio Manager, have you tried setting the speaker type there?

Aside from the audio issue, I notice you only have 2GB of RAM. The 64 bit OS does you no good with only 2GB of RAM, and can be an issue with only the 2GB which is bare minimum for a 64 bit OS. The main reason for using a 64 bit OS is to use more than 4GB of RAM, since a 32 bit OS cannot address 4 GB (or more) of RAM.

Hello all.

My Dell Inspiron 3520 was going quite slow for unknown reasons so I decided to 'refresh' it using Windows advanced start-up setting. Since that time I have been unable to install Windows updates. Well, I can 'install' them, but they won't 'configure'. Once installed and 'configured' 100% I get this error message advising following reboot : "Failure to configure updates. Reverting changes". The laptop then stays paralysed on that screen.

This only started to happen AFTER I "refreshed" my laptop, which was running Windows 8.1 pretty-much problem-free, though a bit slowly, until a week ago. For now I have found a temporary 'fix' by disabling automatic updates; otherwise the laptop is constantly stuck on the "failure to configure updates" error page (because, obviously, it's automatically attempting to install updates). I have done all the standard troubleshooting, including running MS Fix It, Dell Dr ('My Dell' found no hardware issues), MS Malware removal and Mcafee anti-malware. All reported "no issues". I have been in command prompt and found no issues I even tried to 'refresh' the laptop again two more times. I have also spoken to two Windows "technicians" and allowed one of them to remotely access my laptop. He found no issues or "violations".

Obviously, the temporary 'fix' of turning off auto-updates isn't a long term solution, and 'refreshing' the laptop hasn't helped (it actual... Read more

Hi, I recently purchased a pair of Corsair Vengeance 2000 wireless USB headphones. However, when I installed them and tried to use them, I came across a rather unusual problem. I couldn't test them, or set them as default device, or configure them. It's like Windows doesn't recognise them. All the drivers are installed correctly .

I have also tried them on another computer, with the same version of Windows and they worked fine, so I know that there is no problem with the headphones.

I am running RealTek HD audio just incase it is needed.

A:Unusual problem: No sound bar for headset and unable to configure them

Sounds like they could have a corrupt status in Windows. Connect the headphones then go to the Device Manager, either the headphones will be listed in the sounds and audio devices or there will be an unknown device listed in the USB section. In either case, RIGHT click on the entry and then LEFT click"Uninstall". Then disconnect the headset and restart the PC. After Windows starts, connect them and Windows should detect and install them, like a new installation. This may take care of the problem.

I'm about at my wit's end trying to figure out my problem and finally decided I should ask the pros for help, since an exhaustive search of the interwebs has turned up nothing. I'm a hobby PC user so please be patient with me. So here is my problem.

I recently bought all the stuff to build an HTPC/gaming rig for my girlfriend and I and I wanted to set up RAID 1 but no matter what I try, I can't get it to work. Here is my rig.

ASRock H77 Pro4-M mobo
Intel i7-2600
(2) 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm; 6.0GB/s HDD
(4) 2GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR 1600 RAM
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti Video Card
Cooler Master 600W Silent Power supply

I think that's about it.

Here is what I've done.

I went into bios and set my storage configuration to RAID. After, I saved and exited, and allowed the machine to reboot. When it did, I pushed Ctrl + I to enter the RAID volume setup menu. I labeled the volume, chose RAID 1, selected my drives, selected my size, and saved and exited. Then I booted from my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Dell OEM, if that matters). I selected my regional settings, and when prompted, accepted the terms and selected "Custom" install. At the drive select screen, I saw one disk, which I believe is what I should see. I highlighted the drive and selected "Load Drivers." I used the driver labeled with the arrow in the attatched image. I got it from my mobo's website found here ASRock > Products > H77 Pro4-M. After the driver loaded, I re... Read more

A:Unable to configure RAID on Windows 7 Home Premium

Why do you want RAID? WIn7 doesn't much like RAID which isn't even Redundant so risks losing both HD's if one fails. Better to install to one HD and use the other for backing up an image.

If you saw one correctly-sized RAID array when you booted into the installer to try hardware RAID then the driver wasn't needed as it's only loaded when no drive shows up. Try again.

A:Unable to click Desktop/Right click on it.

i've used virtumondofix and am now able to click on my desktop -- however, i can no longer click the start bar or anything on it.

My daughters' Satellite laptop just came back from Comp USA where it had been for some major restorative surgery. None of her previous software made the return trip home....

I had bought her a Netgear wireless card, which we thought that she had lost some time ago...hence the disk was picthed. I found the wireless card...go figure...in a pocket in the heavy duty case I got her on eBay. I inserted the card and Windows kindly offered to reinstall the software, but alas..no disk. I've physically plugged the machine into our LAN and visited Netgear's site where I downloaded (at a paionfully slow pace..unusual as we are on broadband) what I assume is the correct driver. The files I downloaded are zipped, but none of them actually appear to be self-installing.

I have extracted the files but there does not seem to be any way to make any of them do what I need. I can list the filenames/extensions if that would be useful. Sincere thanks to anyone who can find the time to help.

I'm hoping you can help me with a few issues I'm having with my Vista Premium system. The issues are:

* Right click on any file in Windows Explorer causes crash. I downloaded ShellexView and as far as I know turned off everything that it would let me turn off and it still crashes.

* After a reboot, Windows keeps trying to configure something and asked for a CD-ROM or other removable disk (pic attached). After pressing cancel, it tries to install again so I press cancel. Repeat this process like 10 times before it finally goes away.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A:Crash w/right click in Windows Explorer, Windows Configure

Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Command Prompt type SFC /scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing files.

According to your DDS log, you have 2 antivirus programs(Ad-Aware and AVG) installed and running at the same time.

Multiple antivirus programs will fight each other and bog down a computer and cause various problems.

I suggest you get rid of BOTH of them and then install Microsoft Security Essentials - which is free and does a good job and is user-friendly and is well-recommended here.

I also suggest you get rid of Spybot - Search & Destroy and then replace it with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware - for the same reasons as mentioned above.

Currently I am using a old laptop of mine to bridge a connection to my Xbox so I can access Live, Netflix and other things.

I have been doing this now for a few months without having any issues at all.

Today I go to bridge my connections and the error below pops up.

Now before registering I spent some time searching this forum as well as googling around for a solution, but not any as of yet.

I have reset WINSOCK, gone into device manager and removed the bridges, rebuilt my WMI repo, deleting WMI (%systemroot%\system32\wbem\repository. Then type del *.* and then del FS. This will delete the WMI repository and force it rebuilt on the next boot.) and a few other things and just can't get the bridge working.

I am able to browse the internet from my laptop.

I don't have many ideas on this. Switch the cable with the internet connection to the other ethernet port as a test. If you can't get internet access then probably that adapter has failed. If it works, I cannot think of anything else at this time.

Well, I had this crappy Ambit modem from my ISP and it fried itself. After that, I have been unable to use anything in the ethernet port, and I have tried both PCI ethernet and the on board junk, neither work. I have also tried rebuilding my network from scratch using the winsock utility I think it was called, and that didn't do anything either. Is there any sort of analysis software I could use and have somebody take a look at to see what's messed up? Sounds like the motherboard is just junk at this point, and I don't plan to replace it. Thanks for any help.

A:Unable To Use Any Ethernet Based Connections

I'm having a hard time with your post. If your modem fried, it would seem to me that the first thing to do would be to replace it, no? Has that happened? If not, I don't follow the jump to assuming a bad MB. Perhaps I'm just ignorant about these things, and too thick to follow?

I can connect to local area connections, but I'm having trouble connecting using wireless. The network is available, but when I try to connect, it will just switch from "Acquiring network address" to "not connected" every 3 seconds.

I can connect just fine to the wireless network using other computers. Also, I was able to connect a day ago using this same computer, so I doubt it's hardware related. The only change that has occurred is that I installed Symantec antivirus. After I installed it and rebooted my computer, I haven't been able to connect. I'm hoping that I can fix this by adjusting some settings, but I'm not sure where I should look. Anyone have suggestions?

A:Unable to connect to wireless connections

Well, I'd uninstall that AV, then run a system restore point to before the issue started happening. That will require a re-install of the AV, but that might solve whatever is corrupted.

For months I have been using a shortcut I placed on my desktop to turn my LAN connection on/off (instead of going to Network Connections via Control Panel). Always worked fine.

Recently I downloaded questionable software that loaded a lot of junkware/spyware on my computer. I deleted a lot and cleaned up the Registry and even went to Microsoft to reload SP3 (for XP) as well as drivers and other software.

In doing so I lost my ability to "Disable" the LAN connection. I get the message: "It is not possible to disable the connection at this time." See attached.

I never got this message before - the software simply disconnected the connection as requested.

Don't know if this is caused by some form of malware or reloading SP3 and drivers did it.

How can I recover the ability to to disconnect?

A:Unable to disconnect LAN via Network Connections

Can you disable the LAN from within Network Connections? If so, simply delete the shortcut and create a new one.
