Extended Internet facing SharePoint 2013 site duplicating the user

Q: Extended Internet facing SharePoint 2013 site duplicating the user

One of my customer has extended windows-claims based Sp2013 web application to Internet. SO I have 2 urls - Http for intranet and https for internet
They have extended internet facing site using ADFS authentication
When a user logs in via the internet facing site, even if the windows claims identity is added in owners group, the internet facing site returns a blank screen post authentication ..
However if a claims identity is added, it works.
Is this expected behavior?
There are multiple claims created - SID, email, first name. When users try to add people, they are unable to find the windows accounts on the internet facing site. This is leading to adding duplicate accounts in the site(one -windows other claims)

Any suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

on my customers Server the "User Profile Serive" stopped working. Now I've recreated the User Profile Service Application, but the "User Profile Synchronization Service" will not start working. Does anyone has an idea what I can do to
solve this Problem. I've created it like the MSDN description.
Thanks for your help.
Kind regards

Not sure what I did but I recently modified a document on our SharePoint and saved it locally. Now when I open that master document on SharePoint it opens the one I saved locally a while back and asks if I want to update the server. I've searched on various forums for a fix for this but have yet to find a solution.

How can I open these master documents on sharepoint without having it ask to update the server. I'd hate to accidentally save over the master document.

I'm using MS Office 2013, and SharePoint 2010.

hey guys I was a little confused if this was the right place 'all other applications'
So I have extremely limited experience with Sharepoint 2013.
But my boss asked me today if I could just 'check out' what possibilities we might have with sharepoint 2013.
Regarding two things.
1: We have documentation spread all over our 'older sharepoint' and 3 other purchased systems..
this documentation is everything from firewall logs, to password lists, IP lists, printer manuals, etc etc.
2: We have our own constructed Wiki, in reality we have 600 documents in a folder.
like: "How to get rid of this virus" "How to push our security out on iphones" articles to help us in the IT department.
We have an Active Directory and Exchange user setup.
So lets say you wanted to sort all this out, and have it placed in one spot.
with easy search functions, and of course the possibility to limit users as only our Admin accounts from the AD should
be allowed to view the password lists.

Not knowing anything about sharepoint 2013, could you maybe point me in a direction towards something that might be suitable?
also if you plan on suggesting alternatives, let me make it clear we don't wish this to be online, no cloud services

I am experiencing a issue with the IE11 browser specifically when trying to select from the address book/people picker within SharePoint 2013 and it is not bringing
up the people pick box to select a user from. When I click on the address book it does nothing at all. The people picker is not working in IE, but working on my Chrome browser just fine so that made me believe it could possibly be a browser issue. I am trying
to find a fix as majority of the users at my company use IE v11, so I was researching what could possibly be causing this for this browser only and being it is a sporadic occurrence.

I have tried setting the sharepoint.com site within the 'Compatibility View Settings', and also modified the custom level security zone and cleared my cache. And
nothing is seem to be helping me resolve this issue.

Any help would be appreciated in advance!

I use SharePoint 2010 and 2013 and need Designer for both versions. 2010 has installed fine, but 2013 gets almost all the way through the install then unhelpfully just says "Microsoft SharePoint Designer encountered an error during setup" and no further details given. I'm running Office 32-bit on a 64-bit machine. The issues have been with the 32-bit version. I know that with the rest of Office being 32-bit I need to stick with that, but any ideas on how to troubleshoot the install? Thanks!

A:SharePoint Designer 2013 install issue

That's very interesting. I can certainly pass that on to the server team. I don't have Admin rights on my machine. The strange thing is the previous person who used this computer had no issues with running both versions (prior to the machine being wiped for me) which makes it all the more surprising that there'd be an issue.

We just upgraded to Office 2013. Since the upgrade some users are unable to edit Office documents that they open through SharePoint. I can see that the documents are opened as read only. Even if they select to edit the document in SharePoint it throws up an alert saying that they don't have permissions to edit the document.

I checked all permissions and they appear to be OK. Is there any setting in Office 2013 that is maybe defaulted to read only or something?

Hi Everyone,
We are getting an error with Adobe Reader DC when trying to open or save files to Sharepoint 2013.
An Error has occurred in the script on this page
Line: 42
Char: 5
Error: Unable to get property 'empty' of undefined or null reference
Code: 0

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?  Yes/No
Whatever option we press (yes/no) the error will not go away.

This happens in the open or save window that opens within Adobe Reader DC version 2015.010.20056
At this stage more than 1 Windows 8.1 Pro 64 systems are affected, and some of the same version systems are not affected.
I can confirm that the open/save window on Office products (2013 word, Outlook and Excel) work fine and are not affected, it just seems to be Adobe Reader DC.
Please let us know how we might fix this.
Thanks in advance.

Adding a network location for a SharePoint site in Vista, you were able to set http://servername and it listed all the sites in SharePoint as folders, and you could just navigate to any document library. In Windows 7 it just shows as blank. Try and create a folder and it says the filename is too long.

You can put in http://servername/sitename on Windows 7 and it works!

What do you need for it to perform as Vista did, as it was a great "Network Location" to add via GPO for all users, instead of scripting sites dependeant on the users group membership?

Thank you in advance!

So we have this puzzling issue.  We have an SharePoint site that works for some/most people but not everyone.
We are trying with IE11 (latest version).  We have also looked at trusted sites and compatibility view (they are the same for users that work and don't work).
For ones that it does not work, they seem to get this message when they browse to the webpage:
"Only secure content is displayed"
The issue they get is when they fill out a form (with a Captcha at the end) and try to submit it.  They get this message:
System Error: The Web application at <https://...> could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.
For those users with the issue, we have tried different browsers, Chrome, Firefox and Edge (for those with Windows 10).  The only one that it works with is Edge.
Now the strangest part is that if we open the website in Edge, and then from Edge open IE, we can submit that form correctly.
Does anyone know what the difference is between opening IE directly and opening IE from Edge?  Maybe that can help us figure out how to address this issue.

I am trying to figure out why my church computer is running so slow. One of the things that I noticed when I checked the processes running is that the HP Admin is duplicating what the user is doing, i.e. if I open IE, the HP Admin will also run IE. We don't have somebody who is the administrator, so the system boots to user use. Is there a why I can turn off the HP admin? Is there something else causing this to happen? Thanks

A:HP Admin duplicating user processes

This is way above my techy skills- but I can offer this help - it seems sometimes there may be another DHCP server on your network and this would double the processes?
Here's a detailed link-
And here's a similar incident described:

I do hope this helps - and TSG has some of the smartest- nicest members around the web -so maybe someone else will be more knowledgeable with this and be able to help more.

Also have you tried using the free "CodeStuffStarter"?
After installing and opening up CodeStuff - right click and scroll down to reserarch each entry on the web- deciding whether it is a necessary for your system or not, this may help a little.
Always set a restore point in system restore before doing this, just in case.

Hoping that someone can help me with this problem as it's really got me stumped.

I have read many posts regarding problems with Sharepoint 2010 not opening pdf files from IE. Unfortunately none of those issues directly relate to my problem. They seem to be saying that Sharepoint is asking you to save instead of open.

In my situation, when a pdf file is clicked with Sharepoint  on premises site, the file will try and open, and then return an error of "The URL you have provided could not be reached. Please verify that the URL is correct and that the network location
is reachable". I am convinced this is due to a password issue. We had a separate issue of people being asked for passwords every time they opened a document. When it came to PDF's, if a user pressed Cancel to skip typing in a password, the pdf would open
fine. If a password was entered, the error above was displayed.

Now we have resolved the issue of the password prompt, it's possible that Sharepoint is sending the username and password to Adobe reader to open the pdf. And because Adobe is not Microsoft technology, it wont accept the values of username and password and
will not open. Also probably why it worked when Cancel was clicked.

In addition I have tried another sharepoint online site, and PDF's open fine in the browser. It's obviously something within the Sharepoint 2010 on premises installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Can't open PDF from Sharepoint 2010 on premises site, IE or Windows Explorer

sharepoint sites work by keeping tables of meta data that describe the file attributes and permissions of files stored on the server. Usually PDF documents are read-only.

A user is trying to access an internal Sharepoint site in our business domain.

When using the regular address, we get the HTTP error 500. If we type the fully qualified domain name, we get error 403; The Website Declined to Show This Page.

We can access the site through firefox, but Sharepoint does not work optimally through that browser.

We logged into the same computer as a different user on the domain, and could access sharepoint just fine. We also tried logging into sharepoint using the first user's credentials, but logged into the domain as the other user, and could access it.

I hope I don't overstep my bounds by asking this here.

I have an internal company site that all domain users have access to. Recently I have one user that cannot access the site because the site is constantly requesting logging in but will not accept the credentials. I have changed the password through Active Directory to make sure that the whole domain saw their credentials correctly. The site is in the trusted sites list via GPO. And the User Profile services have been running.

No other user gets this and this user can access everything else on the network with their network credentials. I don't want to make massive changes to the SharePoint server as no one else is having issues. Any ideas of where too look for a fix?

A:SharePoint not letting a particular user log in.

Just to follow up. Removing the profile on the local machine seemed to work. Not sure what caused the problem but it is now fixed.

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. I was at a new client and found that they had IIS running on their workstation with portforwarding for ports 80, 1025, 3389, and 8080. This machine was about a year behind on patches, and I'm concerned.  I shared my concerns with them, but I'm not sure
they got the level of risk they were exposing themselves to.  This is an unmonitored and unpatched machine that holds their primary business data.  Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, etc.

facing problem in internet connection on microsoft - vista.
As, i am using static Ip-address from my vendor for internet connection accessing.

For microsoft - windows prof, i am able to access net conneciton but not able todo the same through vista.

Steps: I will change the ip-address in control-pannel -> network -> select the tcp/ip protocal and change the ip-addres change.

Not able to access the internet for the same steps applied on Vista.
As it displayed an error as: Not able to access to DNS server.
Cross-cheked with my vendor, the same DNS server is up and running.

Please advise, whether any additional check needs todo.

By design Vista Home Basic and Home Premium do not allow access to a domain. What version are you running?

A:Im facing a very strange Internet Browsing problem!!

Help you out how? Your ISP took ownership of the problem and said they'd fix it, so surely you're not expecting one of us to fix your ISP's problem.

Suggest you find a free public hotspot near you to tide you over until your ISP gets a solution.

A friend of mine has the problem described in the title. I made sure that it wasn't due to obvious causes like speed limiting by the ISP. He's not very good at computers so if you could recommend a novice-friendly solution, that'd be great. His HJT log is as follows:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 10:12:26 PM, on 10/02/2010Platform: Windows Vista (WinNT 6.00.1904)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16982)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exeC:\Windows\Explorer.EXEC:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exeC:\Windows\sttray.exeC:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\IAAnotif.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\9.0\SharedCOM\RoxWatchTray9.exeC:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD DX\PDVDDXSrv.exeC:\Windows\System32\hkcmd.exeC:\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exeC:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 926\dlcxmon.exeC:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 926\memcard.exeC:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\sidebar.exeC:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\bin\sprtcmd.exeC:\Program Files\Google\GoogleT... I have a user who is getting errors when she tries to access a folder in Sharepoint through IE. If she tries to access it in Firefox it opens fine. It also opens when she cuts the URL from Firefox and pasted it in IE. Just when she tries to open the folder directly by clicking on the link.

The tmp file the error creates looks like this.

faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.3119, fault address 0x00012a5b

I've found that this occurs after Office 2003 SP3 is installed. Running the Office 2007 Diagnostic tool (Start->All Programs->Office 2007 -> Tools -> Office Diagnostics) clears this up, but doesn't tell you why. Luckily, users can run this themselves, even if they don't have Admin rights on their desktop. I'm still looking for a longer-term fix

We have an old sharepoint site that we use for work and over the last two weeks there seems to have been some update going out that is causing Internet Explorer to crash with certain add-on's enabled.
Our Sharepoint site is a basic intranet site and when attempting to acccess it we've found that the IE add-on's labeled "Sharepoint Export Database Launcher" and "Microsoft Office List 16.0" are crashing Internet Explorer. By disabling
these two add-on's people in my organization are able to access the site again, however the issue is that we have excel sheets in the site that we can't edit in datasheet view because the Microsoft Office List 16 is needed to load the excel sheets in datasheet
Many people in my organization are being inconvenienced by this and i'm worried that it's going to start affecting more. I'm not sure of what the fix is here so I'm hoping to get some help.
