Window XP Browser Window Not Displaying in Full Screen Anymore.

Q: Window XP Browser Window Not Displaying in Full Screen Anymore.

I am using Windows Internet Explorer XP - Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803_2158.

Recently I've noticed that I cannot view in full screen anymore. Let me explain. I created a website that lets a user enter their name and social # and then choose a test in 1 of 3 languages. Once you choose a language, a new browser window opens and the test/information is displayed in this new window.

Since end of last year, it worked correctly. A new browser window would open and it would be in full screen mode. You could NOT see the very top of the page - where it gives you the page title, and the options to close the window, or minimize/expand it.

Now, all of a sudden, it displays all that information - title, close option etc. Does anyone know why this is? And how I can put it back to being full screen?

FYI - I think this may have something to do with a service pack upgrade within the last couple weeks but am not positive. Also, I know that lots of people were having issues with the Service Pack 2 and all the bugs.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue and what I can do to fix it?

Preferred Solution: Window XP Browser Window Not Displaying in Full Screen Anymore.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo N580 laptop. Last week, I had to do a factory reset (with help from Lenovo Tech Support) because of compatibility problems with new software from my employer and windows 8.1 which is actually worse than windows 8. The compatibility problems caused my screen to go black. When booting, the Lenovo logo appeared and I had a cursor, but nothing else accept a black screen. I tried suggestions found here and the Lenovo help forum, but none worked and the factory reset was the last resort. Now I am back to using Windows 8 (this was actually the second factory reset due to other problems caused by win 8.1).

Anyway, everything is working (for now) and I also have Classic Shell installed. HOWEVER, before this second factory reset, when I had multiple windows open, aero peek worked fine. Now, it doesn't. I followed earlier suggestions of right clicking the taskbar, then clicking Properties, but the box for "Use Peek ..." is dimmed (grayed out) so I cannot check it to enable aero peek.

I got used to this feature in Win 7 and was glad to see it in Win 8, but it is the only feature about Win 8 and 8.1 that I like. Thanks for your help.

I just receive my Windows 7 64-bit laptop and I encountered problems with Internet downloads. I've tried download using IE or Firefox and via the LAN and Wireless adapters and the results are the same - downloads always stuck in the middle at random position and cannot complete. I use Wireshark to capture the network packets and discovered that whenever the download interruption occur there will be TCP Window-Full sent over from the server on the other side and the local adapters respond with TCP Zero-Window then the download stalls. Then I downgrade the machine to Windws XP everything working fine, so I believe this is a Windows 7 related issue, any idea how can this TCP Window-Full /Zero-Window stalls download problems under Windows 7 be resolved?

In Win 7, when I move a window near the edge of the screen, the window expands to full screen. How do I turn off this feature?

The web has the answer:
You can disable this feature:
Control Panel --> Ease of Access Center --> Make the Mouse easier to use
Place a check mark in the "Prevent Windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen option."
So I did that ... and it made NO difference at all.

I am trying to set up a .bat file to run as a logon script on my NT 4.0 network. The problem is that I would like the .bat file I have created to run full screen so the text can be displayed properly when someone logs in and also to close on exit. The only way I have been able to figure out how to do this is to change the properties settings on the .bat file, but this must be done with each PC, otherwise it will run in smaller DOS window, and will not close on exit. Is there a way to apply these settings to the file so it doesnt have to be set up on each PC?

Hello Joe,

Windows 7 remembers the size and position of all Windows Explorer windows for what the last window was closed as. You can open a Windows Explorer windows, maximize it, then close it. All windows will open maximized after that as long as you close them while maximized as well.

Hope this helps,

A simple one here, I hope.

Sometimes when I attempt to run games (at full screen) they refuse to do so.
The monitor changes resolution and goes black, but the intro sequence does not display. If I then click, the window minimises itself to the task bar, and I cannot re-open it.

This occurs on several different games, and both of my machines. Most of the time I can get the games to run fine.

Even if I can't solve the source problem, if I could open the games in a window that would be an advantage!
Thanks all in advance!
I have a feeling it has something to do with a corruption of data in the buffer (excuse my lack of knowledge here) as it usually happens when I have already opened something to full screen and it then failed.

I would think the problem is from the 2.13 GHz cpu and you only have 2 GB of memory.

I only use VLC and it`s flawless so I don`t think it`s a problem with VLC.

You need to get a good 2 GB video card, that should cure the problem.

Is there any way to play a full-screen game (like Sim City) in a window instead of in its default full-screen setting? I want to be able to play the game and have access to my computer desktop as well, so that I can use AIM, browse the web, check e-mail, etc. I remember being able to do this on an older system by installing a utility, but I forgot what it was called and don't even know if it would work with XP.

I've been seeing what appears to be a windows bug, but I havent been able to locate any discussion or permanent fix. In a application that has been maximized, the top inch (edge-to-edge across the top 80-100 pixels? or so, enough that the office ribbon is mostly obscured) becomes white, and clicking in that space actually clicks-through to the application (or desktop) that is behind it.

It appears to only happen to a single application at a time, and the effect disappears if the user pulls that application out of full screen mode (using the Windows-Arrow shortcuts, as the minimize, windowed, and close buttons at the top are no longer accessible). I've seen it in IE, Word, Excel, and Acrobat. The issue disappears with a reboot. I can probably count the number of times it's occurred on both hands in the last year, and I've never had a chance to really do much more in the way of testing. I dont believe there's any event log entries that appear in conjunction with it.

Our office is running all dell hardware (laptops and desktops of different flavors), on Windows 7 32/64bit, and the only thing that appears consistent between the users having the problem is the use of two monitors.

It started happening to just one user about a year ago (infrequently) and has recently been reported by 3-4 more users in the last couple months.

We've been users of AVG and Malwarebytes, and I dont suspect anything nefarious... just seems to be an irritating bug from the looks of... Read more

For a few days now, I've had this problem. Any active window will lose focus after a short while, and I have to click the window to continue what I was doing. While running programs in full screen, they will likewise lose focus and minimize.

I have searched for solutions and tried any I could find, but so far I've had no luck. I even found a topic on this forum from 2010, but that was also a dead end. I have formatted my OS drive and reinstalled, but nothing has helped. There are no error messages or pop-up prompts, and no other window seems to be stealing the focus.

This is slowly driving me crazy, and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out.

Any idea how to disable the bar-double click behavior?

Thanks, and again I apologize if my search was crud.

Double-clicking the title bar to maximize a window has been a behavior since at least Windows 95. I think it cannot be disabled. You may need to change your approach.

Hi, I have been sitting 4 hours straight trying to work things out. I came home today and all my games were suddenly running in a minimized window. I tried to fix this through different resolutions and stuff but nothing helped. Then i plugged in my Hdmi cable and suddenly my games ran in full window mode. When i took it out again they went back to minimized, even if i changed resolution ingame. I know this fix with games is something computers have been doing for me, butt suddenly will not help me with anymore.

Worst of all is that when trying to fix the resolutions and stuff on my Intel R gma driver (which is my graphic card) my computer suddenly was unable to detect the hdmi cable on itself as it usually does. So i had to go into control panel - attach a projector or external screen and fix it from there. But as it seems no matter what i do here i cant get full screen size on my tv.

So as you see ive got two problems and i thinked they might be linked in some way. Can you help me out? I know i havent been to specific, but plz let me know if there is any details you need

Below is my hijackthis log (I'm new to this hijackthis stuff, so please tell me if I didn't post the correct log, and I will get you the proper one). Thanks!

A:Add/Remove Programs window will not open anymore

Hi again -

When I try and open the add/remove programs button from the control panel, it does not open.

Do you receive any error messages, does it not open at all, or does it just not populate?
Download RSIT by random/random and save it to your desktop.
Double click RSIT.exe to start the tool and click Continue at the disclaimer.
When the scan completes it will open a log named log.txt maximized, and a log named info.txt minimized.
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of log.txt here.
Please attach info.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\rsit\info.txt

Click Upload.
