I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am in the process of developing an Access 2003 application, and almost done. While I was fixing some errors with controls on one of the reports, seems like the database corrupted. Now, I keep getting "microsoft office access has detected corruption in this file....etc". It instructs me to Compact & Repair, but when I get the same error message when I try that. If I open a blank database & try to import objects from the corrupted database, I cannot access/view the objects of the corrupted file from the blank database. Unfortunately, I dont have a backup of the file, I can try to restore to an earlier storage point (using System Restore), but will lose considerable work. Any ideas?

I have Microsoft Office Access installed already. It is the 2003 version.

Dear all

I have setup a number of databases in Microsoft Access 97 and have them setup as various DSNs on an NT 4 server with IIS 4. (SP6)

Web pages connecting to them all work great.

However, I now use Access XP and would rather not have to keep converting databases to and from Access 97 format.

So, what I'm asking is how can I get the Access XP/2002 database driver onto the server?

I have visted www.microsoft.com/data and downloaded (and installed) MDAC 2.7 RTM but this hasn't added the later driver to the ODBC settings within control panel. I've also tried downloading and installing Jet 4 but without any success.

Would installing OXP on the server help? I'd have to remove it afterwards because I only have the one licence.

Please help me out if you can - it would save me tonnes of time.

Many thanks

Hi, I am currently working on my Database assignment due in 4 days, trying to finish it up.

I currently have finished making all tables, set everything up properly in field propeties and such. Now, I'm facing to the main part of this assignment, creating the forms.

I am required to make a database for Rick Smith (of course, a fake company) so the user can add new customers in, new sales and new products in. And what I'm stuck at the moment is:

Screenshot of relationship diagram with all the details inside:
1. How many queries do I need to make? 2? If so, what do they need to have? (Both each)

2. In forms, I'm making 1 Sale form with Sale_Line subform, 1 Products form, 1 Customer form and a Switchboard (I can do this myself). Do I only need sub-forms for Sale? Should I put sub-forms for others? :S

3. Should I do the Price (of total per items), Subtotal, GST and Total of all in Query? or on the actual form?

The preview of Sale form is:
4. How do I seperate the Subtotals, GST and Total from the subform part? Are they still in sub-form? If so, am I meant to make them in the forms rather than making them in Queries?

5. I made 4 forms so far, just like the ones I mentioned before. Everything is working except for Sale+Sale Sub-Form. When I open a Sale form, it asks you to put the Sales' Number I'm looking for... I do not want to do that. And let's say I just type '1' and get in, there are a lot of stuff which are not required in ... Read more

Hi to all.
Little background first, I operate and look after a 3D cad package for a company in Philippines there are many changes being done monthly, weekly and daily to the data we use for production. Price changes to materials, changes to construction methods of the cabinets we build, changes to the hardware used in the construction etc.

To date I have been using a spreadsheet with column headings:
Item code:----Date reported:------reported by:---------- Nature of report:-------------- dated completed:---------------completed by -----completed by comments.

Now as this list grows its getting more and more difficult to track what changes were done and when as some items have had major changes 3 or 4 times.

I used to use a purpose built DB for our customers when I was in sales back in Australia but no longer have a copy of this on my PC.

So what I figured was to make one myself

The brief is this:

Fire up the program and a dialog input box appears with the above headings and input box's next to the headings.

The user clicks NEW (i guess) and inputs the info, date can be automaticly generated.
The program I use is based to a large degree on ACCESS DB's and has info available from those tables if thats possible for the ITEM CODE input but also need to be manually input also as the cabinet assemblies themselves are not stored in a DB, materials, door styles, construction methods and the like are however.

Once the info is saved its stored for later recall.

Beard, welcome to the Forum.
This sounds like a nice little beginner database which could probably be expanded in the future.
If you already have an Excel workbook with this data I would start by Importing it.
I would then create a "cabinet" table with an Autonumber ID field and the Item Code as an Indexed field with "No Duplicates" set.
Then create an Append query that appends all the Item Codes from the imported table.
That will give you the start of a table of Item codes than can be selected using a Combo rather than having the user type in the data.
You then replace the Item codes in the Imported table with the ID number from the new Item Codes table.

This database is designed to search for property from various locations and from various price ranges, you can also pick the type of property, the amount of bedrooms and have the result in descending or ascending order.

For location just use: Location 1, Location 2, Location 3, and Any
Price Ranges use: 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 90,000, and 110,000
Type of property please use: houses, flats, and bungalows
Bedrooms use: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5+

Fill in any data you wish, I think this needs to have a query setup?

Hi,
We just found that some of our applications that depend on MS Access 97 database format could not open certain database tables. The error displayed is "Unrecognized database format". This issue started occurring after the January '19 security patches
from Microsoft were deployed on our workstations.
After researching online, I came across https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4480960/windows-server-2008-kb4480960
I see that this has been marked as a known issue and that Microsoft is working on a fix that is estimated to be ready by early Feb. Last update was on 1/11

Are there any new updates regarding this issue?

When opening Microsoft Access, the norm is to have a samller window inside the large window pop up that says the type of data base. Then you can click on the icon inside to open up the database. Well, someone in my office closed out the smaller window and I can't figure out how to get it back. I tried looking in the recent history to no avail.

Hi everyone,

While I am not a tremendously experienced Microsoft Access user, I did manage to set a database password for a file of mine.

I thought this had made it secure however now we have discovered that when the file is emailed to another computer it can be opened without having to put in the password.

I thought that putting a password on the database would mean that the password would need to be entered no matter where the file was opened. Is there any way I can secure my file across any computer that it could possibly be opened up on.

We are running Office XP on Windows XP.

Thanks,

The new minor auto-upgrade for Outpost's anti-virus engine was scheduled for the end of the current week. It will be delivered during June 1-4 to all our customers.

The new anti-virus engine carries the internal version number 5.5.1.3 (previous one was 5.5.0.4) and works only with the new malware database format (v15), to be updated simultaneously.

Main changes in June's upgrade:

significantly decrease both the memory consumption of the virus database and the size of the individual database files on the disc,
as a result of this development the memory requirement of the loaded database decreased by approximately 20%.

Other changes since April's upgrade:

Fixed crash occurred on hacked UPX samples on x64 platform.
Some kind of malware may have not been detected by the x64 version of the engine (though x86 version could detect them).

Also, the support for loading a minimal database set was added (to provide protection for machines with very low memory).Click to expand...

Hello,
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in Microsoft Access 2010, but i've come across a problem with one of my databases that is running on a Windows 7 computer.
The problem is that when the database runs, it has a very very slow response time, yet if I copy it to another Windows 7 or XP computer the response time is fast.
So far I have updated the computer with Windows 7 updates, and modified the registry buffer size to 50000 in the Access Connectivity Engine setting, but the Microsoft Access database is still very slow at loading and accessing the data.
Any help greatly appreciated.

When I try to open the database I get the message "Run time error 3044" . It also mentions that the "back" is not a valid pathway.

When I press the "Debug" the following message is highlighted "DoCmd.OpenForm at DocName, , , stLinkCriteria"

The information in the "Back" part of the database is still there but I can't seem to connect the tw0.

W2K and Access 2000: I get this error "Microsoft Jet engine error" when trying to open Access. I can create a new db file but then cannot open it, same error. I found that the system.mdw file in c:\program files\common files\system was 1kb, so I replaced it with one from another device that was 114kb. Then Access was ok.
Somehow periodically this file gets back to 1kb. I'm not sure if it is being overwritten or rewriting it's self. I am unable to force it to happen. It will be ok for several days then bad again.

Virus sw is up to date, full scan shows nothing, no adware present.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This happens when using delphi 6; However this problem is fixed in delphi 7, so I used delphi 7 to open my project only then it came up with an error with dbmemo datafield. Its like its not possible to use dbmemo when using Delphi 7. This has happened before. And then I was programming using win 98, delphi 6 , access and saved my work to a cd. We have several users that access a web based databse through their web browser. The database is hosted and managed by a separate company.

One of our users has told us of an error she receives. It is seemingly random: She might try to access a record and will get the error, or might not get the error. Or might get the error one time, and not the next. It is unpredictable.

The error is displayed on actual web browser page, it is not a dialog box or an error that the browser is encountering.

The information from the error is as follows:

VB Error Number: -2147217900 [0x80040E14]
Err.Description: [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB]SQL0104 - Token BIAVNB was not valid. Valid tokens: FOR WITH FETCH ORDER UNION EXCEPT OPTIMIZE.

Our first thought was that this was a server side error. This one user is the ONLY user who received the error, ever, as far as we know. We thought perhaps it was a problem with her account with the database management system. However, we decided to let another user to try it using the first user's computer. The second user used her own login with the web based database, and she also began to receive this error. This leads us to beleive that the problem is the computer in use, and not anything on the database side.

However, I am baffled as to what would cause such a thing to happen.

Hello all,

After a long hiatus, I am trying to get a hockey database working. It was originally created in Access 97 and was recently converted to Access 2000.

One of the key forms in the database is one that I use to enter the results of each game. The primary form records basic information such as how many goals were scored in what period, and a recap.

There is a subform that looks like a spreadsheet, with columns for team name, player, and individual actions, so there is one row for each goal or penalty that occurred in the game.

In the subform, when you select a team from the drop-down, the next field (the player drop-down) is populated with the valid list of players on that team. I did this by running the following after someone selects a team:

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit

Private Sub Team1_AfterUpdate()
DoCmd.Requery "Player_ID1"
DoCmd.Requery "Assist1"
DoCmd.Requery "Assist2"
End Sub

This worked fine last year, but once I opened it and converted it to 2000, I get the following error as soon as I select a team from the list:

Runtime error 2488:
You can't use the ApplyFilter action on this window.

When I go into debug mode, it's hung up on the first DoCmd.Requery row in the above sub.

Now, this thing was put together originally with much help from much more talented people than me, and I literally have not touched Access since then, so what little expertise I had has flown out the window. So, I might be hard-pr... Read more

Hi Quetzal, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Later versions of Access use an .accdb suffix & not the .mdb suffix & this is the cause of your problem. As you mentioned updating from Access 2003 I assume you are now using Access 2013, so these websites might help you.
In the first one scroll down to the links contained in it & follow those as well. The second one may not be relevant but it does contain some info that might be of interest to you.

This may go along with the other post I started here and it may not. That is where you come in.

The company I just started working for is using a program that uses a Access Database with all of the info in it. This program was written in what I believe is Crystal language according to what I have gathered from doc types. It gives reports in .rpt format and I saw something else that said Crystal and so I looked it up and it was a language. The doc type is also a crystal report doc type apparently.

This program accesses the database and brings up model numbers and info about it. Now, normally we can put in these 3 fields needed and hit add to batch, then print batch and it will print. Something happened where now if we do it, once we hit print I get,

"Runtime error 3421- Data Type Conversion Error"

Apparently before the error this time, they would enter a letter or something instead of a number and it would give an error message. It would still show up in the access report though. Then my boss would go into the database and delete the bad entries and apparently it would work again.

Now we are having an issue where we get this error no matter what. They put in the same 3 fields as numbers and this error pops up. I cannot figure out why it is doing this and the program is basically useless right now. These entries are not showing up in the database either. We deleted all of the old entries that were made into the database and nothing... Read more

A:Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database

WELL I FIXED IT! It was indeed an issue where an extra letter not a number got typed into a quantity field. Instead of being "6" it was "6B". I deleted the B and everything started working. I can't believe it was that easy. The reason I didn't catch it earlier was because it was in a completely different file than the one it uses to pull the information from. Apparently my boss didn't know that or whatever I am not sure. The program was open and so the access file was locked but I saw another access file was also locked. So I decided to see what that file was and I noticed the lookups in a table that we were trying to do every time we got an error. I then noticed the "6B" pretty fast and thought, no way it could have been this easy. But of course it was. Like it always is. He just told me that he used the other file. Well now I know!

I have found from several forums and support sites including Microsoft that many users are asking solution for the error generating by MS Access 2010 or 2007 while running their custom made Access 2003 database usually after after upgrade.
The error is showing as "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office Access can't find."

The solution is as below:
This error is causing due to disabled macro setting by default. So you will need to enable the macro as per the following method.
Go to File > Options > Trust Center
Then Click on "Trust Center Settings".
Here click on the Option " Show the Message Bar ... ..."
Re-open the Access File in exclusive mode
Now click on the yellow message bar on to to enable macro..... ..... problem solved.

Welcome to TSG and I appreciate the pro-active post.

A another solution is to learn the Trust Center. In there you can enable all macros.
