Yoga C930 Pen Pressure

Q: Yoga C930 Pen Pressure

I recently purchased the Yoga c930 to mainly draw on the go and do artwork in various apps and programs (mainly Photoshop, SketchBook, and Krita). However, this 2 in 1 is unable to download the wacom feel it driver ( I get a message saying that the wacom driver is not compatiable with the computer/tablet, which is wierd because the pen uses wacom aes technology) and I am having trouble with getting pressure sensitivity to work in almost everything I have tried to draw in. I even tried to change setting within the programs themselves, but the only one that really worked was Photoshop. Krita and Sketchbook still have no pressure sensitivity. There is also a Lenovo Pen Settings control panel for pressure sensitivity, but it does not really seem to make a difference in sensitivity when I change the settings there. Any suggestions as to how to get the pressure sensitivity to function properly on this computer would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to return the laptop and get the Yoga 720 13" becuase this computer is really nice otherwise, but I'm starting to think that may be the only option if I want to have a better drawing experience.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You are using a Yoga Book c930? Or a Yoga c930? Doesn't sound like you have the Yoga Book (This is the Yoga Book forum) based on the replacement laptop you would get.

Hi, I am looking for a laptop with a 4K screen. According to the specs, the X1 Carbon Gen 7 and X1 Yoga Gen 4 will have 51W battery. Does that mean even they will get the latest cpu (which some said there is not much different), they will have shorter battery life than the current Yoga C930 which has 60W battery? https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24380-2019-lenovo-thinkpads/https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24458-lenovo-yoga-c930-review/

I?m currently experiencing issues with inconsistent digitizer pen pressure/sensitivity.When painting within CS6, the strokes will suddenly and randomly grow thick and bold, despite brush settings for opposite results, and without a change in the pressure I apply to the screen. I am running CS6 on a Lenovo ThinkPad S1 Yoga, with a Windows 10 64-bit OS.Is this an issue with my Lenovo, Photoshop, Windows 10, the pen, or something else? What steps can I take to resolve this matter once and for all?

Hi

Maybe you can try updating some of the driver related to the Pen.

There is the Wintab Driver for Windows 10. Check if you need to update it.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds041384

Other thing that also may help is doing some "trial and error" with other pen related software, link using Inkscape and configuring it with the pen just to try it out.

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the pen pressure for the pen that comes with the YOGA920? The sensitivity works fine on Paint3D so I assume it would work on other drawing programs as long it is adjusted. (Similar thing happened for my Windows Surface, I had to download an app to adjust my pen sensitivity and it all worked. I'm assuming Lenovo would have a similar process) The drawing programs I use are PaintToolSAI and/or ClipStudioPaint, I have tried on both programs and there's no pen pressure.  If you can help please do, thanks in advance!

Hi,I've just bought the Yoga 530 laptop along with the Active Pen 2, but the pen is displaying some weird behavior:Often, when I touch the pen to the touch screen the pressure sensitivity is ignored so it just draws an even, fat line as if you were drawing with a mouse/trackpad. If I keep the pen pressed down for a while, f.ex. drawing a long line, the pressure sensitivity will kick in after a while - in other words, this doesn't seem to depend on how you "click" the touch screen. The pressure sensitivity usually also stays active if you make several quick strokes right after each other. Then if you stop drawing for a few seconds it disappears again. Here's an example:  I've tested this in Clip Studio Paint and Krita with the same result.I'm running Windows 10 v1809 Some things I've already tried:Enabling and disabling Tablet Mode (makes no difference)Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (Active Pen Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 530-14IKB, Flex 6-14IKB)Enabled "Ignore touch input when I'm using my pen" in the Pen & Windows ink settingsDisabling all buttons (and hover click) on the pen via Lenovo Pen settingsChanged the pen tip sensitivityAny ideas for what else I can try?

Hey guys, I'm having some issues with pressure sensitivity. Does the Lenovo yoga 3 support pressure sensitivity? (I thought it would, being a touchscreen laptop)I am using Adobe Illustrator CC with a stylus - the Adonit Jot Pro. I can't seem to use the pressure sensitivity functions on illustrator. I tried downloading a few Wacom drivers, however they did not make any difference. If the Yoga 3 Pro does actually have pressure sensitivity functions, how do I enable them or which drivers do I download.. basically, how do i fix this??Thanks!

A:Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro - Pressure Sensitivity - Stylus

Good day and welcome to the community.

The Yoga 3 Pro has a multipoint capacitive touch screen (vs an active digitizer).

If you need Wacom-style functionality (pressure levels, fine-point control, etc) you'll need a suitably equipped machine, such as a number of ThinkPad Yoga models, the ThinkPad Helix, or the ThinkPad Tablet 10.

Hope this helps to clarify.
Regards.

I bought a ThinkPad yoga 12 with wacom display about 2 years ago and from the beginning I had problems with the pressure sensitivity in Photoshop cs6 extended. Definitely related to air pressure, which is pretty funny and annoying ... I mean, I don't think I am being picky given that every one else on the air plane is playing with their laptops...

I bought my ThinkPad X1 Yoga for around $1600 CAD with 2 years on-site warranty. The Yoga C930 is usually around the same price or more expensive, but the yogadays promotion right now made the base model $200 cheaper even with 2 years on-site warranty. Would you guys say that at $200 cheaper, the Yoga C930 is worth it? It has dual fans and a bigger battery, those seem to be the main advantages.

I have a brand-new Yoga C930 2-in-1 with a 1TB SSD and 16 GB RAM, which I'd like to run Ubuntu Linux on. I can't manage to boot from a USB (type A) pen drive yet, though. I managed to enter the BIOS (via this hint) and the "Boot from USB" option is "Enabled". When I exit the BIOS, though, saving the changes, having the USB pen drive plugged-in into the USB-A slot, Windows is booting up just normal. No USB boot happens, no boot menu is shown. Also, the usual pressing of buttons such as F2, F11, F12 or Del doesn't result in anything being shown from the BIOS. How do I boot from a USB drive then? Obviously, when there is a related option in the BIOS, it should be possible, shouldn't it?

Hello everyone! So after going back and forth which laptop i wanted i finally ended up getting a Yoga C930 which feels MUCH better compared to the 730 i had for about a day. The only concern i have for it right now is the fan noise is noticeable. I updated all of the drivers and did all of the windows updates, but it seems the fan is much more audible compared to the 730 i had. (I used the windows app and Driver Easy to do this) It's not entirely annoying but i do notice it. I also notice the laptop tends to get a bit warm. I know its only been a few hours but still its something i've noticed.  This is the exact one i purchased from Best Buy I've also noticed the Dolby Atmos Speaker System app apparently isn't compatible with my device? Also looking if anyone has recommendations on which usb c dongle to use so I can connect extra USB, display, and memory card reader? Some of the ones I?ve found on amazon don?t exclusively list if it works on the yoga c930

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga c930 last week and it got delivered today. I have been experiencing issues with the sleep and power options. As soon as I click the button to eject the pen, the laptop goes into sleep mode where I have to sign in again. The situation gets worse because sometimes the laptop would shut down randomly when the pen is ejected out or it is inserted back into the laptop. Does anyone have a solution for this issue or anyone faced a similar issue? I have checked the power options and I have set the power and sleep option as never.

Its set usb boot to enable .And ive turned off secure boot. Please help!

A:Yoga c930 unable to boot off USB

Hello and welcome,

If you're trying to boot in UEFI mode, your setup isn't correct.  I've never messed with enterprise before but to verify how it is installed (same as 10 non-enterprise) I just pulled down an eval ISO. Use a 64 bit ISO.

Use diskpart to configure your flash drive: select disk, clean, create partition primary, format fs=fat32 quick, assign.  Not NTFS, don't set it active.  Use your favorite archiving tool - the free 7zip or just Windows 10 Explorer - and extract the contents of the ISO to the flash drive.

BIOS can probably be at defaults.  Ssecure boot on or off doesn't matter.  Get to the boot menu (Fn + Power Button IIRC) and select the flash drive directly.  That should do it. Booted just fine on the first Lenovo laptop I tried.

[edit to add] Is this  a Yoga C930 or a Yoga Book C930?

So i have a Yoga c930 with 8gb ram and an i7 8550u. And i also have some old linux OS's on my USB thumb drive. I can successfully boot to my desktop pc from that same drive. That pc supports both UEFI and legacy, and since the OS on the thumb drive can only boot through legacy i cannot seem to boot it on the Yoga C930. I've updated to the latest bios (8GCN32WW) and i've tried to both disable secure boot, and intel trust platform technology. Both unsuccessfully, and both disabled at the same time. Is it just not possible to boot from a legacy drive, or am i doing something wrong? Best regards, Mads.

I just purchased a Lenovo Yoga C930, and the Pen doesn't charge in the dock unless I push the pen all the way to the bottom of the dock (and only if I'm putting the pen in, not taking it out), and even then it only charges up to 50%.
The battery lasts a while after I do this, and it takes 15 seconds for the battery to charge from 6% to 50%.
The charging contacts on the Pen itself seem straight and fine.
The first day I used the pen, I used it heavily for a few hours and did not encounter a problem.
Any suggestions? Is this most likely a problem with the Pen or with the laptop itself?

Today I recieved my new C930 laptop from Lenovo and right off the bat I knew that the touchpad felt bad.   The main issue with it is the imprecise touchpad.  When trying to make small movements or adjustments the cursor on screen does not reflect the movement I am making on the touchpad.  The cursor either doesn't move at all, moves in a different manner than my hand, or jumps randomly.Another major issue for me is trying to two finger click (right click).  Often times when I attempt the two finger click, it is registered as a single finger click resulting in a left click.  This problem doesn't seem to appear when I do a two finger TAP though. There are other minor issues im experiencing, but they are so minor that I would be willing to just put up with it. I've tried updating the HID-compliant touch pad and HID-compliant mouse drivers, but I am told that I have the latest drivers even though the driver versions are 10.0.17763.316 and 10.0.17763.1 respectively. (these drivers are from 2006)  I've also tried uninstalling these drivers and restarting my pc to download new drivers. Anyways, any help to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

It also feels weird and it is kinda loose and imprecise! -KeyBoard acts weird and there is a noticeable input lag that I just can't stand since I am a programmer. -Hibernation/suspend/who knows who causes the impossibility to Wake up my laptop from sleep. When it happens I can only hard shut it down. - I've found some strange stats in the battery report that makes me think that I've received a testing unit with all of these malfunctionnality. My EMEA casw manager does no longee respond to my emails and I am willing to sens back this laptop and receive a refund or a new replacememt ( BUT NO MORE IDEAPAD LAPTOPS).
