I tried to uninstall, reinstall Adobe flash player, chrome but to no avail. I think it's an overheating issue but I don't know how to read the figures from CPUID Hardware Monitor & Core Temp (Screenshot http://i44.tinypic.com/291nq0i.jpg ). I've disabled "Hardware Acceleration" on Chrome and Flash Player. Fans are running but I couldn't find any software to read the temperature of Hard drive or Processor as the ones available doesn't support the above processor. I'd appreciate if anyone could help me with this as the restart happens every 5-20mins (sometimes even during a reboot). I couldn't find any google chrome crash report although it's enabled. I also tried to disable (and uninstall) manually installed adobe player & use inbuilt adobe player in Chrome to isolate the issue but it doesn't work at all. I have installed HijackThis but I don't know how to read or use the log files. Please Help!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there, I am new here, I have searched the net for an answer to my problem but have been unsuccessful so have decided to post here...

My computer starts stuttering (audio and video) for about 20 seconds every 2-3minutes when I play microsoft flight simulator 2004 which is highly frustrating. It runs fine on 24frames/sec (which I have locked it at) then it goes to 1-3frames for about 20seconds then returns and is fine for 2-3mins. This is a recent problem, I run it on a reasonably capable laptop, it worked perfectly fine for 9months, and it has been like this for the past few weeks.

I've opened the task manager during the stuttering fit and the CPU was running at 98%-100% then after dropped to around 30%.

Specs: Laptop, AMD Turion x2 2.2Ghz, ATI Radeon HD3200, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD

Hope that is comprehensive enough info, I'm not great with computers, but I can't think it is a hardware problem as it worked fine for a good 9months.

Thank you all in advance

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I honestly don't know what I'm doing. My Vista's not playing any of the music files on my computer or my iPod on any music player I use (iTunes, WinAmp, the Rhapsody that came with it), though it plays anything else that's online. Other sounds on the computer are also playing (MSN, AIM, system sounds). What it does exactly is, upon clicking any song in the media library, it shows intention to play it but then stays at 0:00, while recognizing the length of song, name of artist, etc. Did I miss something?

The error message is something like "kernel page instack error" or something to that affect. It doesnt happen when i play movies from my windows media player or vlc player. I think it has something to do with my drivers, but i really dont know. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

I've installed the latest driver 4 my gfx card (integrated) , I've scanned with kaspersky, panda, avg, ad-aware and windows defender and I've cleaned up my registry and disk with Ccleaner.

I've got 223 MB RAM, which seems to get eaten up as fast as heck during start-up and afterwards, so I downloaded XP FreeRAM Pro or w/e. It got 4 stars on download.com and IMO it works well. Computer temps are within safe levels (40 -55c max) and it makes no distinct sounds when frozen. When it freezes, the screen stays still and sound turns off. Basic functions like turning on the CAPS lock light are working. I've got my PC tuned up for fast performance, no desktop BG, no window effects (it looks like windows 98) only 4 desktop icons (including the mystring thing). I only got ZoneAlarm firewall, AVG and FreeRam on my taskbar. Still slow, sometimes. I dunno what else to do.

I'm running on an AMD Duron, with VIA motherboard (with S3 Unichrome integrated gfx)
and VIA AC97 audio controller (which i haven't found an update for).

Any suggestions? Thx in advance.

Oh, and it freezes on low-end games. Pharaoh only needs 32 MB RAM and I can't run it w/o freezing it's maddening.

Hi everyone,

A few days ago my computer started freezing whenever I watched video with any media player or online. The video will play from anywhere between 30 seconds and a few minutes. I'm getting no error codes, no BSOD, no screen tear or blocks, the video and audio just freeze and I get no keyboard or mouse response so I have to restart the computer. I get no problems just being online or using word processors, seems only problem is when I play video or play games.

I've had issues with my graphics card before so I'm guessing that's the problem again, but I'm not sure so that's why I'm here.

My computer specs are:

Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge
ASrock P67 Pro3
8GB G.Skill Ripjaw
ASUS nVidia GTX 560Ti
650W PSU

I just ran FurMark stability test on fullscreen and I was averaging 100fps and 75C for 60k frames with no problems. Don't know if that helps at all.

If you need more info I'll do what I can to get it for you. Thanks for taking any time to help me out.

I went on my computer yesterday (Windows XP) and was having problems playing videos. I only get a few seconds of choppy video and then it goes black. (YouTube,Yahoo, etc)

I then tried playing a video file on my computer and it worked fine, except there was no audio. I tried .wma in Windows Media Player and .mp3 songs in Itunes, no sound.

I scanned my computer with MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware and it didn't find anything. I then restarted the computer and everything was working fine.

But today (about the same time as yesterday) I had the same problem. All of a sudden, online videos stopped working and audio was gone.

Restarted it again and now it's back to normal.

What could the problem be?

For about the past 2 weeks I started having a very annoying and strange problem watching videos and listening to any music files on my computer. When watching streaming internet videos, at random moments, for example, for 2 seconds in a 15 minute clip, a loud audio/video stutter will occur, even when the video has completely buffered, if someone is in the middle of saying something one syllable will be repeated 3-5 times, video will hitch, and then things will continue on as normal. At first I thought it was just on one site but its happening on multiple sites, in both flash and divx players, both of which I have up to date.
Now I don't think its even an internet issue, because its happening with video and music files I have on both internal and external hard drives. At seemingly random intervals the video will hitch, a syllable of dialogue will stutter, for 2-4 seconds, and then things will continue on. I have a new Gateway laptop that is running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP1. It has Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 @2.16ghz and 4GB of RAM.
I didn't have any of these issues prior to the last few weeks. I have broadband wireless internet, and other computers on the network play media files fine. I have kept up with windows updates, run regular malware bytes scans that have come up empty, and everything else is running fine and normal so I don't think its any sort of virus or malware causing this. Something went badly wrong with my computer since yesterday. I was deleting files in my Local Disc C (I didn't touch anything on system32 or anything that sounded important BUT there must have been something that I have touched and I don't know what it is.) and the next day, I couldn't play a video I was supposed to be watching on the internet. I tried playing my movies on my computer and it still doesn't play. It seems to be kind of stuck since the unmoving shots of the movie is there. Same with YouTube videos. It just keeps buffering and buffering and showing an unmoving shot. I've tried doing a sfc \scannow but it didn't work. I don't know what to do. There's no start-up sound, it seems like something is disabled. Can someone please tell me what to do? It would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried downloading my Flash Player again which I stupidly deleted because I thought replacing it would do the thing. But it only made it worse. I could not download my Flash Player. Sucks. Also everytime I want to install Java it gets an error. I really need some help on this.

Hello,

I've recently have began having problems with BSODs. On occasion now, i get these unexpected blue screens whenever i'm playing League of Legends, or just relaxing to some music. I haven't been able to pinpoint the possible specific driver responsible, and i have updated my graphics drivers but to no avail. Hopefully you guys can help me out here. Thanks .Each bluescreen i've had all had the description IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Bugcheck code 0x0000000a. I've run the windows memory diagnostic for 7 passes around 3 times, all with no errors. I've ran Norton NPE, Norton system scans, and Malwarebytes scans as well. No viruses or malware either.

When listening to music or watching video online, is my experience of having the process interrupted periodically by buffering what I should expect? Or is there someway to avoid that? I have just downloaded RealPlayer in order to see some videos on ABCNew.com and then to listen to some music on Netradio.com. After doing more tinkering with controls and buttons than if is was flying a jumbo jet, all without the benefit of an owner's manual, I find myself wondering if all those people out there who listen to music and watch videos online suffer the same faith I do, i.e., getting more interruptions than I got on my home grown ham radio back in the thirties during an electrical storm.

Also, if you're still with me, is there any need to have both Windows Media Player and RealPlayer? Since I will use either very little, I want as little resources used and as little chance for problems, as possible. I now have version 4 Windows Media Player which I have thought about upgrading to version 6 (because I read that version 7 takes up so much in resources), and also uninstalling RealPlayer on the basis that with Windows Media I don't need RealPlayer for my minimum uses.

Any thoughts?

Yes that's normal. It's happened to me too before. The connection doesn't always stay constant. It cuts out from time to time depending on how busy the net is.

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>...is there any need to have both Windows Media Player and RealPlayer?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

That's up to you. I have version 6.4 which works well. I've seen lots of people who have had problems with upgrading to version 7 so i'm not going to upgrade to that version and take the chance of running into those same problems.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have been Googling all over the place last couple of days and looking through hundreds of regkeys but cannot find the answer.

We have 1800 PC's using Offline files to a NAS location. Even though the Group Policy is set to force PC's Offline no matter what the latency value. I have noticed some PC's that have Offline files enabled but are set to work online. Maybe set manually
before the GPO was applied. Anyway I was wondering if there is a way to detect on numerous PC's whether a PC is set to work Offline or Online? I have been looking to see if a regkey changes when the Work Offline / Online button is pressed on the file menu
of the redirected folder.

I have found a key that changes if you hit the button Work Online/ Offline button
manually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\NetCache\OnlineTransitionLog Value - (name of nas share) but this clears when the PC is rebooted or logged out and does not reappear unless you do the switch again manually.
This will not work when I try to scan all the PC's.

Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi and welcome

By the talk I assume you mean the peoples voices. If that is so you may have the sound control panel configured incorrectly for stereo instead of 5.1.

We need a ton more info before we can help. what sound card, etc

I'm talking about videos on the actual sites, not that play in popup windows media player, etc. Maybe some sort of app or shareware? I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.3. Thanks.

A friends PC keeps crashing after a few hours of usage (watching movies, listening to music). I've been attempting to troubleshoot it but I'm not to sure about how to find the cause of the problem. Based on my google search, which led me here, it's caused by either RAM, HDD, Drivers or overheating. I unfortunately can't get the dump right now, but I did get the info from the event log.

The computer has rebooted from bugcheck. The bugcheck was 0x00000124 (0x000000..., 0xfffffa8003560038, 0x00000000b2000000, 0x000000001040080f).

Problem Event Name: Bluescreen
OS Version 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 256_1

Does this info narrow down the issue, or is it just generalizing the problem down to what's been stated before?

This is not a "must have", but it is a lot of fun. You can play a video as desktop background which is especially nice if it is a music video. For that you need VLC. If you do not have it yet, you can install it from e.g. here ( Download VLC Media Player 1.1.2 - FileHippo.com ). And here are the few easy steps:

1. Open VLC and go to Tools > Preferences
2. Click on the icon called Video on the left (3d icon from the top)
3. Change Output (which is set to Default) to say Directx Video Output
4. Click on the Save button (important)
5. Now select the video you like to play -> Media > Open File
6. Right click on the VLC window where the video plays and go to Video > Directx Wallpaper
7. Minimize the VLC window and enjoy your new desktop

If you want to get out of it, right click on the VLC icon in the taskbar and Close VLC. In case you later want to use VLC for "normal" operation, you have to reset the Output to Default and Save it.

Ok, let me get to the point, lately whenever I play a music file on my system or watch an online video, all I get is sluggish and choppy sound. I am running Vista Home Premium SP1. My specs are as follow :

AMD Athlon 64X2 TK-53 1.7Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM
120GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

I've got all of the latest drivers
I ran various virus scans, yet no avail. I am running with all the latest OS updates. Now I am at my wits ends and baffled as to why suddenly it does this.

I also check my hard drive for errors using chkdsk yet it reports nothing bad.
However now that I think of it, I did update my BIOS last week I am running a PHOENIX AMD BIOS with version 3.13 Date : 08/22/2008.

Perhaps this caused some odd behavior ? But as far as I'm aware of, nothing else is wrong with my system.

My only problem is choppy audio while the hard disk drive is active. For example I could be copying a file while listening to music and all I hear is choppy audio. Unfortunately this is a pain in arse while playing games from the hard drive. All I get is choppy/sluggish audio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am getting rather tired at the moment, don't mind my ****ty grammatical errors in this post. All I want to do is get my point across and hopefully get this problem fixed.
Thanks
Jordan
PS : If anyone would like to contact me further regarding this problem please don't hesitate to send me a Private Message or post in this topic.

Ok, I restarted my computer from a fresh boot this morning and when I opened up iTunes to play a song, I clicked the play button. It then proceeds to keep the song on 0:00, no audio no nothing. No attempt to even start the song.

Thinking it was an iTunes error I tried to play something in WMP. It did the same thing....clicked play and the song stays on 0:00. Now I tried to play a video in WMP to see if that worked, and it played extremely slowly and laggy with no audio. VLC media player is doing the same thing.

Some background on my system, it doesn't lag. I have an i7920 and the hard drive the music and audio is stored on is extremely fast. I also tried moving the music to a different HD on my system and it does the same thing. Any help is appreciated. I am going to try a system restore.

A:Music/video not playing (Not an audio problem)

A system restore fixed it. Looks like a windows update was installed. Thats the only thing that could have done it. I haven't installed anything for over a week. If you know what might have done it specifically, let me know.

I have a Dell inspiron 1545 w/ 4gb ram, 250gbhd and I am running windows vista. Whenever I watch any movies/shows online the sound comes out perfect but the video is like snapshots. It doesn't matter if I go to abc to watch free shows or youtube it all plays like snapshots. My dell is almost a year old and should not have problems with playing video. I checked my internet speed and it ranges from 10mbps to 18+. Video plays fine on my macs but not the dell, so I'm pretty sure it isn't my internet. Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice.

Windows 7 64bit SP1 Retail
Fresh install (cleanness debatable - I will elaborate later)
Latest drivers from motherboard and graphics manufacturers website.
No outstanding windows updates
Latest Flash Player
Latest Firefox
Full DirectX install

My problem:
As far as I have noticed it seems to be when viewing videos online I get regular BSOD, I have not noticed if that is the only time they are occurring and have failed in taking note of the errors, but then I remembered the amazing BSOD Team here and thought it'd be worth a post to shed some light.
Also firefox just seems to randomly crash a lot, it so far has always recovered my tabs though.

Here is the required data, what an awesome tool, nice work jcgriff2!
Attachment 179057
Further information on the recent install:

I initially used RT Lite to strip out a load of stuff prior to install, needless to say I took too much away and ruined the windows experience. So I stuck in my retail disk from the live OS and ran the installer in upgrade mode from there. Putting back all of the windows functionality I have come to know and love (such as thumbnails) and removing only IE, Media Player, Media Centre and Movie Maker.

Since then I have installed the driver again using nvidia's "clean install" option in the setup.exe

Many thanks in advance, I know you get busy in this category.

Hello,

Over 2 weeks ago my girlfirned's computer was infected by Win Defrag. I had attempted to remove it, althoug hthere wasn't much information about it available. I thought I had succeeded as it was no longer reappearing, and the system seemed to be running fine.

Last night, my girlfriend informed me that the computer turned itself off automatically and wouldn't turn on. When she did get it to turn back on it said "Windows was unable to start." The computer (Dell Inspiron 1564) then ran the Windows Startup Repair utility and said it found problems to repair and attempted to repair them. She was able to get the computer up, and as she started to do a MBAM scan, it turned off again without notice. Also SOPHOS Anti-Virus detected Troj/Agent-PPD in her Temp files which according to SOPHOS has been "Cleaned Up."

The AC adapter is fine, the battery is charged. Her old desktop computer (Dell Dimension 5100c) had the same problem which was caused by many hidden viruses and overheating.

I was able to get the computer on long enough to run a MBAM scan (no malicious items found) and a HiJack This scan, and below is the log.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Could be an overheating problem, the PC is protecting itself from damage by shutting down rather than damaging it self. Check the PSU, all the Fans esp. the CPU on the CPU itself. Also make sure all the PCI cards are slotted in securely.

If possible install a tool the monitor PC temperatures to see where the issue is.

hi guys. well i reinstalled windows 2000 professional on my desktop. for some strange reason, the computer shuts down automatically for no apparent reason. for example i'f i'm listening to music and doing something, the computer will just reset itself. my analysis is that it is right next to a wireless router. i had a prior experience that there was a cell phone on top of the desktop and as soon as it start ringing, the computer reset automatically. so i was thinking that the desktop computer is sensitive to the wireless frequencies that is coming from the wireless router. tell me what you guys think....

i guess my best bet is to try and move the desktop away from the wireless router...

We attempted to boot-up computer 1, and after about 10 seconds, the monitor went blank and the computer sounded like it was shutting down - it froze. We attempted to turn the computer off with the power button, but to no avail. After pulling out the power plug a couple of times and retrying the above, we gave up and put the working fan back in computer 2. However, when we turned computer 2 on, the above scenario with computer 1 repeated itself with computer 2. The fan is still running, monitor turns off, computer on, but not doing anything. Did we trigger something moving the fan around? Is there some kind of reset button? Did something get unplugged? Not really sure what we need to do....

Hi, I am having a problem with Media Player and have tried everything I can think to remedy the issue short of reinstalling Windows XP.

Whenever I try to play a video file in Media Player 10 I get an error that says "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
There is no error code that I can tell. The error signature says
AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3250 ModName unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: e991403

The weird thing is that it will play audio files fine. I also have media player 6.4 on the computer (it seems like it is installed when you install Media Player 10) and if I go into the MediaPlayer directory and open that program and open video through it then the video works fine. Video also works fine in every other video program that I run. I also tried rolling back media player to version 9, and I still get the problem.

I know I can use other programs for video but I have a hard time playing internet videos since Media Player isn't working.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Audio is always on a shared Interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. Depending on the shared device, it can "interrupt" the audio and cause skipping.

If you have the HP supplied IDT audio driver for Win 7, it is also compatible for Win 8. However, check the Device Manager and see what devices are listed in the Sound section. You should ONLY have the correct IDT sound driver and possibly HDMI audio (if your system has this) and nothing else. If "HD Audio Codec" (the generic Windows installed sound driver) is also listed, or any other sound, except the IDT and possibly HDMI, uninstall those as they can cause conflicts and other audio problems. Restart the PC if you uninstalled anything.

If you only have the correct entries in the sound, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDG and then LEFT click "Uninstall" (do not uninstall the drivers). Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This will fix any potential corruptions between Windows and the sound and sometimes will put the sound on a different shared IRQ and fix or mimimize any interruptions.
