Lenovo Z 50-70 hinges issue

Q: Lenovo Z 50-70 hinges issue

I have recently visited Lenovo service center to fix an issue with my fault keypad, as my laptop is under extended warranty a new keypad was fixed as a resolution. Service executive reported that the hinge has a problem and need to get it fixed before getting worse. After fixing the new keyboard the hinge issue became more annoying as the left hinge thread completely released and now when I re-visited the store and inquired for a fix they informed that hinge repair will not cover under warranty and forwarded a quotation for 10000 rs approx to replace the lower and upper case completely. Its hardly 2 years that I used my laptop and ran into multiple issues, before replacing the keyboard the threads are available and has a minor issue but after fixing it, threads got completely released and started making sounds, the same has been reported but there is no proper response from the executives.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey all,  I have loose hinges and want to replace them on my t61. I red the instructions on that link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T61-and-prior-T-series/How-to-replace-loose-broken-hinges-on-t... Just to make sure - In order to take off the lcd front bezel - it's only 5 screws and just pull it up gently all around? Is that glued or latches?  No need to get the back cover of the lcd too? Cause on HMM it seems I have to take back cover too.  Thanks in advance

Hey everyone, I'm beginning to have issues with the black hingest on my laptop. It happens when I open the laptop up and you'll see on the picture (hopefully) what I'm talking about.  I tried to research this issue and found a few posts and youtube videos but it looked like the issues involved something inside of the laptop while this appears to be a bit different. Any help on how I might be able to fix this is greatly appreciated.

Hello,I have an HP m6 that suffered from constant hinges breaking, despite getting them replaced, they break in 1 year max. Normal usage and no going outdoors I swear.I then got yesterday a Dell 5558 that im returning due to its touchpad and screen's washed colors. Now I'm here, about to get a G50-80 or a Z51, so my question is related to the G50-80 here: 1- What are the known issues? Everythin got issues, i'd rather know them before buying than after. 2- Hinges... anyone experienced or heard about problems related to them breaking and so on?  Thank you

A:Lenovo G50-80 Hinges and Known Issues?

hi,I have purchased Lenovo Laptop G50-80 on Nov 1st last year. I did face the issue. First the hinges become  tight.Even for Normal usage, the two bottom screws peeled off.  The bottom case is being pulled apart near the hinges. When I approached the Lenovo  service center , they said the whole case is to be replaced. They charge me USD 80. They said it will not be covered under warranty. In my view, they have made plastic support , instead of metal. Any justice ?

Now I am seriously considering to stop importing lenovo Laptops. Lenovo must improve their quality for sure.

I have been having an absolutely MISERABLE expereince dealing with Lenovo with this computer.  About 2 weeks ago, the left hinge on my pc notebook began sticking and with routine opening and closing, which has forced the separation of the casing from the screen.  It was under waranty until 12/28/2016.  I placed my first call on 12/27/2016 to get the process going and have gotten nothing but a runaround with each call to India I make.  Each time, I get a guarantee that I will get a call back within "3 business days" to no avail.  I am told that my case is escalated and I should expect an email from a "case manager" and should get an email within 24 hours, and NOTHING.  I have taken out an extended warratny with Lenovo based off the suggestion of my call on 12/27/16 in order to get in home assistance, and nobody want to aknowledge anything to help with this case.  Any help that anyone can provide to help expedite this process, whether it be a strategy to get someone in America to actually call me back, another number beyond the one on the website to spreak to someone "higher up," etc.  I am beyond frustrated with this case and am about done with Lenovo...

Seems there are some design issues and manufacturing defect with the way Lenovo Egde 2-in 1 touch screen works. The right hinge somehow has come loose and then it forces the screens to separate. When you close the laptop it seems to aggravate the situation.  I have certainly not dropped it and mishandled it. Searching on the internet it seems to a very common issue. Wondering how should I go about getting this fixed. Does anybody have some fix and something? is there a recall? Its a fairly new laptop with good specs. See attached pictures.everything still worksClosing it seems to split the screenskeep the laptop open at all time to prevent it from falling apart. The laptop screen is seperating due to hinge issue.

The other day I was closing my ThinkPad Yoga, and I noticed a bad-sounding crunch. I tried opening and closing it again, but there didn't seem to be a problem. But I noticed today that something definitely has happened. Now, my hinges are out of alignment with one another. The right hinge looks OK, but the left hinge looks kinked forward. This causes the screen to be lopsided when in laptop mode, but it it also noticeable when the laptop and screen is flattened out. See in the the following image how the right hinge is flat, but the left hinge is kinked up?  Is there anything that can be done about this?

Hey there, Both hinges of my Ideapad 300-14ISK are now broken after 6 months of light use. The right one started to freeze after less than 2 months from the purchase date. It has resulted in breaking the LCD cover as a result as I opened or closed the lid. About a month later, the left hinge did the same. I can't open or close the lid at all now. I am now looking for a replacement for those hinges since I gave up on trying to resolve this with the support team although it is still in the warranty (however I bought it from outside the US. They're claiming that's why they can't help me). The Lenovo website has 2 parts for the hinges for this model but I can't understand the difference between them. First one is "5H50K14044 - HINGE L+R LIMR L300-14IBR" while the second one is "5H50K14032 - HINGE L+R L300-14IBR". I can't figure out the difference between both parts. The only difference in the name is the "LIMR" word in the description of the first one. Does anyone understand what the difference between both parts is? Thanks!

I've owned my HP laptop for almost three years now, and up to this point it has worked great throughout it's use. Recently, it seems like the hinges to open and close my screen have been putting some stress on the screen frame. Every time I open my laptop up, I have to take about 5 minutes to open it carefully so the frame doesn't come loose on the bottom left corner. Closing it is an issue too, as I usually have to close my fingers on it to keep the frame from going loose, resulting in it coming loose despite my hardest efforts, in which case I have no choice but to close it and snap everything back into it's rightful place. I took my laptop over to Best Buy for their input, and the only thing they suggested was superguling the frame to the screen. I took their advice and tried it, letting it sit for 2 days open while it set. (You can never be too careful!) The superglue did nothing and my frame is still loose, and I now have an ugly line of superglue on the bottom of my screen that sets off my OCD every time I need to get work done. If anyone has any idea on how to go about fixing this situation, I'd appreciate it.Thanks!

Hello HP, my name is Karl, i'm from Ireland and I'm posting in regards to my HP Envy m6. My name is probably in your books for repair and replacement on a couple of different occasions all pinpointing towards the same problem, the exterior of my laptop. Through researching different websites for selling second hand laptops such as eBay, donedeal  etc  in each case for the HP Envy m6 they all have the exact same issues and are being sold for a reason in order to get some sort of money for the poorly crafted laptop they bought for X700 plus. I enjoy the performance of the laptop, I've had it for four years and had it repaired with warranty I had, but no longer have. I'm not the only customer who has had this issue, proof lies in the forum search; http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=HP+Envy+M6+Broken+hinge Speaking for all of the unhappy HP customers, a recall on this extremelly common issue is much needed, i'm fully aware that there was a recall stated on the HP website, but I was never informed. For those who aren't as well off as others, repair costs for the hopeful 800 euro laptop in which was presumed to last by most customers who were capable of coughing up this money, is far too expensive. I would just like to squeeze as much time as possible out of this laptop as I'm currently low on funds and am facing the life changing exam referred to as the Leaving Cert. Side points;-life expectancy of the lap... Hello everyone! I'd like to tell about an issue with a laptop and seek your advice on the problem I have. I will start from the beginning in order to present the whole situation. In 2015, on the 16th of August, I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Y7070 laptop from Russian vendor. I also live in Russia (St. Petesburg), so I tried to get support there. After a little while, a registered at Lenovo Support site and found out that my laptop is covered by warranty that ends on 2017-03-18. I though that was good to know and went on to using a laptop. Everything was good and fine until one day in November, 2016 I opened a lid of a laptop and it went with a loud cracking sound ? the hinges were torn out of the body of a laptop and it seemed like plastic that held the whole thing together was broken. There were no prior issues with a device, so I wrote an e-mail to the vendor I bought it at, described the issue and they replied that that is not of their concern what Lenovo Support site says and that their warranty was only 1 year and it ended on 2016-08-17. Okay, I thought, and went to Lenovo Support site again to find service providers in St. Petersburg. I found one and took a laptop there. Indeed, they said that I have to pay for repairs and they have to change both screen and bottom covers in order to fix the problem. And as they have no parts in stock, I have to wait from 1 month to indefinite time for the parts to arrive. I brought the laptop the... Read more

Have you tried using parts lookup?  Choose "Mechanical Assemblies" on the left under commodity type.  Dont post your serial number here but if you put it in parts lookup you will find parts for your laptop.  I just looked up Generic u530.

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-u-series-laptops/ideapad-u5...

With that part number you can get at Lenovo Encompass store.  Please verify part numbers before buying.

The above are for the hinge.  For the hinge cover  choose "LCD parts" on the left side under commodity type.  Below is hinge cover.

I really do not understand how to solve this and stopped finding solutions and sending mails to these Lenovo people anymore and using this lapotp only for browsing and work purpose. I have never been able to solve my FPS issue.  I recently installed PUBGMobile to see if this can run and that game runs at 17 FPS!!!! even a laptop with integrated intel graphics canrun it at betterFPS . Looking for answers, I noticed that many are experiencing the same issues with the hinges. mine have never fallen as well. When I called to support they told me that it was going to cost me almost 300 as an estimate. I don't think that's fair considering that is a poor design issue.

A:Hinges

Just to add more information about the problem: Haven't used the laptop in almost a year since the hinges on my HP Envy Touchsmart 15 began to separate the bottom plastic cover of the PC while opening for use. Like I mentioned previously, the laptop has never been dropped.  This issue started up slowly, but since an external monitor was connected to the laptop for some time, I'm not sure exactly when this problem started. As seen, it seems the hinge has "fallen" out of place and attempting to open the laptop separates the bottom black part from the silver colored plastic side cover (vent?). In addition, the hinge itself no longer supports the weight of the laptop screen, and appears loose inside (hinge wiggles back and forth) and does not have a strong fixed hold. See pictures for more information (the small black piece of plastic seen in one of the pics fell out of the laptop while attempting to open a bit for taking better pictures).

Q: Hinges

I've had my HP Envy for two years. I am the sole user of this laptop. The left hinge broke after a few short months. It was stationary -- on a desk and never transported, therefore never dropped and obviously defective. I was told that hinge replacement is not covered under warranty, so I made the decision to tolerate it since I didn't want to be without it for an indefinite period of time and also felt the estimated $250 in repair was unreasonable. A few weeks later, the right hinge broke causing a significant separation in the case. This past weekend, the keyboard began to fail. Some of the letters do not register and have to be copied and pasted (you can appreciate how long it is taking me to write this!). I took it into a repair shop today hoping to have a replacement keyboard installed and was told they would not be able to help me because they felt they would not be able to put it back together as a result of the damage caused from the failing hinges. They felt the best option, all things considered, would be to purchase a wireless keyboard and resign myself to the idea that what I have here is a desktop. HP... take responsibility for these failing hinges without your normal fee. You created a DEFECTIVE product with a substandard design, rendering an otherwise fantastic laptop useless. This is a widespread problem that should not have to be accepted from customers who are investing over $1000 in this product.

The screws are missing. This board will cost me R3999 to replace and this is without even the labor. My frustrations comes that I have spend over R15 000 on this machine which hardly lasted me two years. I cannot spend another R3999 on it. There were several complaints to this complany of HP. I want to know from HP how they are goign to fix this issue as clearly it is a fault in the product. Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi all,

I bought this laptop 4 years back and since then I have never been happy using this , wasted my money. I want Lenovo to resopnd as responsible as possible for this.

even laptops with lesser graphic cards are running games at better FPS than this one.
I realy lost hope in this laptop and Ican't even sell this to anyone , and ll never buy any product from LENOVO.
worst laptop ever.

I find myself pretty good with computers but my laptop is having an issue that I've never seen, had, or heard of before. And it's something I couldn't find a solution for online at allI own a Lenovo Y50-70 (2016, specs at bottoms) I bought it refurbished with a 1 year warranty almost a year ago on the dot. Saturday night it bassicly ate the dustWhen I power the laptop on, the keyboard light starts up, the power and low battery light work. But nothing else. The fans don't start working either until about 20 seconds after pressing the power. USB items (my mechanical keyboard and mouse) don't receive any power. I tested with an external monitor to see if the display was dead and it didn't even post to the monitor I tried disconnecting the battery and nothing changed with it plugged in, I did a 10second reset with no battery. I have tried checking the fans and making sure nothing came unplugged under the hood and couldn't find anything wrong Another thing, when I unplug it it makes this awful beep noise (single)If anyone has a suggestion or a known fix PLEASE tell me, I'm a high school student that just spent all their savings on a car which I still need to register. I will be incredibly thankful Laptop: i7-4720HQ, 8Gb ram, GTX 960m, 1TB/8GB SSHD

Hi Miingap,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with your system as it reboots.

As you have mentioned that when you try with both the RAMs the system reboots, try to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version and check for the issue.

Hi,I'm concerned about my GPU (960m) it gets over 100 celcius hot(according to superb game boost) while playing Cs:GO.(same with other games) and fps jumps from ~10 to ~130 (even tho cs go should run well with high settings) also noise is quite strong coming from the fan. I consider changing fan to my y50, could it help? and if the GPU is damaged, is it possible to somehow check it?(I have latest drivers installed and 960m selected as primary gpu) -Thanks

When logging on, I am directed to a temporary account that was created by Lenovo in my name instead of the original. I can not delete the account.

Thanks
