Summiting New Samples to Bleeping Computer

Q: Summiting New Samples to Bleeping Computer

If I come across new malware samples, then How can I summit them here for analyzing purposes?

Preferred Solution: Summiting New Samples to Bleeping Computer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Summiting New Samples to Bleeping Computer

How to Submit Malware Sample to Bleeping Computer for analysis. Generally we use this procedure when Helpers request members to specifically submit a file sample but all staff experts have access to such submissions. BC MRT Experts also have individual channels where they can request members to submit samples directly to them for analysis. For most folks we advise that anytime you come across a suspicious file or you want a second opinion, submit it to one of the following online services that analyzes suspicious files:Jotti's virusscanVirusTotalVirSCANIn the "File to Scan" (Upload or Submit) box, browse to the location of the suspicious file and submit (upload) it for scanning/analysis. If you get a message saying "File has already been analyzed", click Reanalyze or Scan again.

My computer is a 10 month old Windows 7, 64 bit emachine with AMD Anthion 2850e processor, nvidia GeForce 6150SE Integrated, 320 GB HDD, 2GB DDr2 memory, has slowed to a crawl. I hope this is enough information because my pc refused to download the TSG SysInfo!

I'm a college student and had saved a lot of papers which may have started it all, I copied those to a memory stick, uninstalled all programs I don't use, a few I use infrequently, run AVG, CCleaner, and several registry cleaners which worked for about 15 min., and then back to running slower than dial up. My internet speed is 6.0 fiber optic and it takes an hour to do anything on the pc.

I tried to download the bleeping computer links for over an hour and am unable to do so. I am tearing my hair out in frustration because I have been late on several college papers becuase of the pc running so slow.

HELP! ok, now I cannot do an attachment for the Hijack This, which also would not copy by itwelf onto notepad I had to copy and past myself, so following this I will paste it again.

Anybody who can help or has any other suggestions, I would appreciate, I am supposed to be completing my BS in psche and am driiving myself crazy...I may be my first client!

I am a relative novice to computers. But my is driving me mad. A friend designed the computer for me. About 12 months ago i downloaded a free 1 hour game from Incredigames. Half way through the game my base unit suddenly started intermitant bleeping which became more regular until it was constantly bleeping. So i deleted the game and everything went back to normal. But over the past 12 months i will go on different internet sites or my daughter will go on the Disney site and it starts again. It seems to start randomly but drives you mad when it does. Please can anyone help

I have bleeping Computer stored in my favorites. When I clicked on Bleeping Computer this morning the site came up. Instead of seeing the discussion forums above my name all I see is a red X at the top of the page.

In another words I have no access to the different forums on the opening page.

I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and clicked on discussion forums. When that page showed up I had another red x on the top of page and next to it was the word forums.

Everything was fine yesterday.

Could someone please tell me whats going on and how to make things right again ??

(Windows XP Home, SP-2, IE Browser)

Thank You for your time.

A:computer bleeping

Could be a bad memory chip, processor problem, or a board is loose. Open the case, and make sure your video card is firmly pressed into the socket.

If you have more than one memory chip, remove one and try booting. If it still beeps, replace that and remove the other one.

Click here to download ewido anti-malware - it is a trial version of the program.Install ewido. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.The program will now go to the main screen. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click updateThen click on Start UpdateThe update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. Then:Click on scannerClick on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folders or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress). While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OKWhen it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save reportClick Save report.Save the report .txt file to your desktop. Now close ewido.Rescan with HJT and post a new log here together with the ewido log so that any remnants can be removed manually.

You may want to look at Everest Home Edition as it is a great system diagnostic tool(and it's free too!).

I thought this would be a cute forum to ask this question in. For some reason, my computer tower recently started making a single beep noise every time any sort of invalid action was performed. I think it was the type of action that normally received a Windows beep audio, through my speakers, not from the tower itself, whereas, now, it comes as an annoying beep from the tower. Not a big problem, but I was just wondering if there's a way to turn that off? I never turned it on in the first place.

A:Bleeping Computer

If beeps are coming from the system...and not from speakers...chances are those are BIOS beeps or warnings of some type built/incorporated into motherboard.

I think I'd try to find out why that's happening and what those beeps might mean on that system.

First google chrome dies then MSIE got slow. Then I got the dreaded XP Defender Pro popups....this was disapointing.
I was running McAffe enterprize and it aparently performs virus detection under the "even blind chickens find the corn now and then" concept.
What I have done...
Ran unregistered Spyware Dr and it found trojan keylogger and Rootkit.TDSS along with a couple hundred other lesser problems.
Ran Malware bytes several times and it removed trojan.
Purchased Spyware Dr. (from work computer) and ran again, got fid of lesser probs and the rootkit (I think)
Ran Ad-Aware
Ran Spy-Bot
Performed disc cleanup
uninstalled many unwanted programs.
Installed Webroot Spy w/ AV (registered), fount 100+ other problems and removed.

MSIE is still nearly unusuable because of CONSTANT redirects. I still get a report of MAL/FAKEAvJs-A being on board but I cannot remove or find it. I am just about ready to go in and wage war on the registry but I thought I would beg for help here first <on my knees>

We were running trend micro smb server client for networks. We were hit with the infamous winfixer virus aka virtumundo. It disguised itself as winshow.exe and tons of other fieles. I would remove this in the registry numerous times and try to combat it in safe mode.
However, in safe mode this virus took over. The crazy thing was that I was surfing on cnn.com is where I picked up this virus. It came from one of those ads that pops up when you scroll over it. I have never seen something do this ever. It opened a command window and started executing files. After that adds were all over the cpu and this cpu was inoperable for some time. I came here, followed your virus instructions and we are much more confident in our virus clearing now. We really wanted to thank you for such a thorough explanation and guidance for helping us remove this nasty virus.
If need be, after all this scanning is complete we will post log files. But this virus went through trend micro like it didn't even exist. I have never seen a virus do something like that before. I caught it as iit was happening but it further infected everything. We are now at a point where it is not popping up anything.

A big thanks!

My computer contracted the "Windows XP Repair" virus yesterday and I was able to handle it swiftly and completely using the information here. I am very grateful and will devote some time each day during the next several weeks to read here and develop a best practices to follow to keep my systems as clear as possible in the future.

From what I've gathered so far, it looks liek a good start is rkill, unhide.exe, malwarebytes, and combofix. If there is a best practices recipe that you prefer, please let me know by link (I will search, although there is a lot of great information to go through).

Also, although I am using Microsoft Security Essentials, it looks like the full version of Malwarebytes would be much better to real-time protect my systems. Thoughts?

Thank you in advance for your help and thank you to Bleeping Computer.com for the great server to the computing community!

A:Thank you Bleeping Computer.com

Hi there, bcfan2011, and welcome to BC

We're certainly pleased when people find our work here to be useful, and are encouraged greatly when people are nice enough to stop by and tell us so
rkill, unhide.exe, and ComboFix are not intended for regular use but rather for addressing specific issues during the cleanup of an infected computer. Tools like Malwarebytes Antimalware or Microsoft Security Essentials are, however, specifically intended for regular preventative use. Think of ComboFix and its friends as brain surgery and of MBAM and MSE as a regular physical exam: getting a physical keeps you healthy and has little danger whereas having brain surgery is not something you want to have done to you with any regularity.

As to which of either MSE or MBAM to use for real-time protection, I'd say it's pretty much an even ballgame between the two, though I've only ever personally used MBAM.

I am hoping that you will be able to help me where the customer service techies have screwed up.

I contacted CS for assistance with a program - what I needed was a program reinstalled and what I go was a wiped hard drive. So... the proceedure that they took me through did perform a back up before wiping, only God knows what.

If I look at my C drive I have about 59 GB used (which was about what I had on my computer before the help from CS). My problem is restoring the information from the backup (do you know they created the stinking problem, but it is not covered for them to help me restore the back up and they told me to take it into a shop. I LIVE IN UKRAINE THERE IS NO SHOP!!!!!!!!! Ok, I feel a little better now ).

So, my need is help to restore the back up made before my hard drive was wiped clean.

A:Bleeping computer is how I feel right now!

What is the make and model of the computer?
Exactly what procedure did you use to make the backup?

Hi Guys

I hope someone is able to give me an answer to my problem. (I have a Dell Dimension 8400 with Win XP on it)

I recently had a virus called "System32like!generic" it was followed by "Nuwar B" (my PC was bleeping on start and it was taking about 10mins to get the PC on). The first system 32... seemed to stop my anti-virus and spyware software from running (it would freeze during the scan).

At that time I had the following protection:-

*Windows Defender
*Ad Aware 2008 (free version)
*PC Guard

Anyway, I decided to use the option on Dell PC's... which was to use the built in system restore (which took it back to factory settings). Basically, it was as it was when I got 4 years ago.

Now... I have reinstalled all the about software.... all my scans are clean, but I am still getting the bleeping computer upon start?

Any suggestions

I received a new computer as a Christmas gift, my brother installed Windows XP home edition on the computer for me and copied all my old files to it. However, work took me out of town for a month and a half so I didn't get a chance to use for a more than a couple of hours. Now I'm back and I'm stuck with this bleeping computer that keeps crashing like a drunk at Mardi Gras.

To be specific the eb browsers are what seem to be crashing--I've downloaded everyone I can find, I don't think Internet Explorer has crashed, I use Firefox so I thought it was the problem, I went through their forums, turning off extensions and what not, but it still kept crashing. So I switched to Opera, still crashing, Seamonkey the same thing. I'm going to start bleeping in a minute, anyone know what's going on here?

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
Motherboard Model: ASRock G31M-S.
Motherboard Chipset: Intel G31 (Bearlake) + ICH7
Drive Model: Seagate ST3250410AS
My brother said there was some issue with the software that came with this cdrom drive, but he fixed. I wonder if that is the problem?

Need advice!

Hello, first post. My wife's computer is over-run. A number of issues are happening simultaneously. She started having system window pop-ups which were obviously malicious. Also, her computer seems to have spontaneously downloaded a program called Paladin Anti-virus which runs on every start-up and declares it has discovered malware. She was running AVG which did not ever find anything but now has no components active and we are unable to re-activate it.

I managed to install a-squared which I have run several times. It commonly hangs and I have not been able to get through a complete deep scan. I have interupted a number of scans part-way and quarantined several high risk files but cannot get through the whole hard-drive.

I have attempted to download malwarebytes but the installer will not run. I also tried to install spybot and it downloaded the program but then froze the computer.

Not sure where to turn next. I am sending this post from my computer because her firefox will not allow me to go to the "bleepingcomputer" websit.

Thanks in advance!

Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it first.Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file file and rename it to mysetup.exe. If that did not work, rename it explorer.exe.Double-click on the renamed file to start the installation. If that still did not work, then try changing the file extension. click this link if you do not see the file extension
If using Windows Vista, refer to these instructions.Right-click on explorer.exe and change the .exe extension to .scr, .com, .pif, or .bat.Then double-click on explorer.com (or whatever extension you renamed it) to begin installation.Note: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware uses Inno Setup instead of the Windows Installer Service to install the program. If installation coninues to fail in normal mode, try installing and scanning in safe mode. Doing this is usually not advised as MBAM is designed to be at full power when running in normal mode and loses some effectiveness for detection & removal when used in safe mode. For optimal removal, normal mode is recommended so it does not limit the abilities of MBAM. Therefore, after completing a scan it is recommended to uninstall MBAM, then reinstall it in normal mode and perform another Quick Scan.If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files.Right-click on mbam.exe and rename it to wuauclt.exe.Double-click on wuauclt.e... I had looked at the forum topic about Slow Computers and the tips to correct the problem...but was intimidated not knowing what would happen if I actually tried some of the tweaks in the list...anyway...after my post for help to see if my pc was infected...and received advice to re-install the o/s...I opted for the trying some of the tweaks first.

I do perform maintenance regularly..defrag, chkdisk utility, run virus scans from free online sources, (all of which never used to do much in terms of speed), and I tend to collect a lot of data on my hard drive, it's true. I have a 37 GB harddrive that was showing only 12 GB of free space left on it. No matter how many of my personal files I have eliminated in the past, that didn't really free up much space for me. I was confused about why my hard drive was so clogged up and after analyzing the size of MY files as opposed to Windows system files..I couldn't figure out why Windows was occupying most of my used space.

This is what I did today:
I turned off the indexing service, disabled the ctfmon.exe, installed the PageDeFrag program(which told me my system didn't need it right now), I created a new restore point, ran disk clean up utility to remove the old system restore points, and whaddaya know??? My computer is running much faster! I also eliminated the largest personal folder which only accounted for 1 GB of space..but after I removed the old restore points...that's what gave me back my hard drive.... Read more

Hi and Welcome to BC community.
At this point, have you made a backup of your important documents on another drive or not? Were there any changes (add/remove), updates or infections before this happen? Open the desktop side casing and check the brand of your hard drive. It should be tested for consistency and the status by the manufacturing support site.

Orange Blossom sent me a post today and told me to follow the steps but my computer won't let me do much.

I am using someone's else's computer to send this post.

Thanks so much!

A:Can not even get to Bleeping Computer site

Are you search results being redirected to go.google (or go.yahoo)? I found a page on disabling the TDSSserv.sys driver via Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices (Non-plug and Play Drivers) that may be useful.

Hi all,
I’m wondering if the Bleeping Computer homepage coding has changed to a format that no longer supports Windows XP.  This computer is setup as a dual-boot XP/Linux Mint machine.  When I boot to XP, only the Bleeping Computer homepage is totally non-viewable.  Using either IE or Chrome, the homepage appears as posted in my pictures.  However, after I leave the homepage, everything else appears perfectly.  Yet, when I boot to Linux, all pages appear and function properly using Chrome or Firefox.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

A:Bleeping Computer homepage.

It's actually the same for me, and this since last Thursday or Friday. I only noticed it at work, didn't try at home. The issue is that I cannot connect to BleepStatic.com which contains all the pictures, scripts, CSS, etc. I think it's an issue on my end, but I'm not sure.
