I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

PING & tracert tests

We would like to see the results from the following Ping Tests - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to save/copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.
If you do not have another PC
Do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the photo/image in a reply

For Windows 8 or Windows 10
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.
Use Windows + X Keys together and choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
Latest version of windows 10 , choose Windows PowerShell (Admin)
Or Right click on the windows icon - bottom left hand side - A menu appears - choose Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin)
Hold the Windows key and press R
Now type CMD

For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R
Now type CMD
Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, copy/paste or type the following command:

echo > 0.txt & PING 192.168.x.x >> 0.txt & PING 98.138.253.109 >> 0.txt & PING google.com >> 0.txt & tracert google.com >> 0.txt & echo [/php] >> 0.txt & 0.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Lets try using the following DNS (Domain Name Servers) on the computer
Google public DNS
Note using google public DNS servers from outside the US may actually slow performace - so use the following as a test to identify DNS issues - if these resolve the issues , then we need to investigate further to optimise the use of DNS.
However, I use google dns in UK ok
Google public DNS
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
The Google Public DNS IPv6 addresses are as follows:

2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844

Theres also a link on how to setup those DNS IP address up on a PC
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

Then once you have set up those DNS entries

Flush & register DNS

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands:

Ipconfig/flushdns
ipconfig/registerdns

If you receive the message
The requested operation requires elevation.
Then please open the command prompt as administrator
Start> All Programs> Accessories and then right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

now type the command again

I have found these to be a useful tools to use for DNS testing

Ok so my gf moved to FL. I'm moving down with her in a couple months.

I gave her my brand new laptop with built in webcam to take and set up Skype so we could video chat.

Well internet came on Monday with the cable company, Comcast. Well she doesn't have a router or anything so she plugged the computer directly into the modem with ethernet.

Everything worked fine. She turned off the computer, then next day she turns it on, internet won't work.

Weird thing is Skype is working, we just had a video chat but he can't go to any sites or use AIM only Skype works.

I had her ping everything and everything is fine except the Default Gateway sends 4, receives 0 and 4 Lost.

What could be causing this problem?

Alright I've tried everything I can think of with my computer and for the life of me I can't get it to connect to the internet/ the default gateway. It will ping the other computer on the network just fine but wont ping the router or any website. I have tried reseting the router, tried disabling the firewall on my pc to no avail. All the IP's are statically set, never had a problem with them for a few years until today. The only way I'm getting internet on my pc now is over a wifi adapter but I would prefer to have it wired like I did before because it is faster. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd try using DHCP to see if you still have connection problem.

I had a problem with my Dell inspiron 1420. My laptop was showing that the strength of my network is strong but it was not able to get connected. It was like showing "Identifying..Identifying".....

I have tried many ways to solve this problem. I have followed few threads also but was not able to solve it.

But I solved it. My solution was this

Open Network and SHaring center -> View status -> Properties -> select on Internet protocol Version (4) TCP/IP -> properties

The uncheck the 'get automatic Ip address and enter the static ip address of your wireless (see it from other laptop if it is getting connected). Also uncheck the "get automatic DNS address" and also do the same.

Try this guys, the problem might get solved. I know it pisses a lot when we have no wireless...

Thanks

Hello, I have set up a wireless network and ive got to the stage were file and printer sharing works and i can ping every part of my internet connection as well as my routers ip but i cant connect to the internet!

Heres my setup:

I have a US Robotics 125mpbs DSL Router, (192.168.2.1) and it can be pinged. Plugged into the router i have a DSL connection which is fuctioning and is detected by the router, (i know the DSL works due to the pc wired to it can connect to the internet).

The problem is connecting to the internet wirelessly via a laptop, (the laptop has printer sharing and file sharing working fine as well as pinging servers).

Do i have a wrong setting on internet explorer?

Many Thanks!

Alex

A:Cannot connect to access point's internet but can ping it as well as DNS and GATEWAY

Not sure I fully understand your setup yet. If I'm reading this right, you have a DSL Router, but your DSL Router is plugged into a DSL connection?
Does this mean you have 2 sepparate boxes, or is your DSL connection and router the same box? And so is this a DLS modem/router/wireless all-in-one?

Anyway, I would take a look in the wireless setup area of the router for any type of security measures, like MAC filtering or encryption keys and so forth. And make sure all the data is there for the laptop.

If you plug the laptop into the router using Ethernet, does it get online then?
From what you say, because file and printer sharing works, and you can ping the router, I am assuming that you have a proper IP address and so maybe that is not the issue. In other words, there is nothing WRONG with your wireless connection. But instead there is something wrong with your laptop.

The other all to common problem is with antivirus/firewall software such as Norton Internet Security. The firewall is notorious for blocking everything whether you want to or not, and whether the firewall is turned off or not. It just does what it wants to I guess. So check your software.

The last thing I don't get is, you said you can "ping servers". Does this mean you can ping external servers like google and ebay and yahoo? Can you go into command prompt and type "ping www.google.com". If it says unknown host, try pinging an external IP address instead, googles wou... Read more

Hey,

Before continuing, this is a thread that I currently have going, if you want extra details on what's been going on. I'll try to explain it quickly here:

My laptop won't connect to wireless Internet. Doesn't matter where I am, so it's not a router problem.
I've tried many things (can be seen on the other thread), and still can't get wireless Internet connection.

Before I go any further, I'm not great with computers, so any instructions, please, eaassyyy!

Now the weird thing is, when I'm in Safe Mode with networking, Internet seems to be working fine!
As you can see in the title, my Ping test is showing something is wrong.

I have no idea what to do here. I've been going through forums, tried the following:

- Changing wireless channel
- TCP/IP stack repair options
- Calling Dell (what a joke that was...)
- ran an ipconfig /all (see on the other thread through my forum link)
- removed Mcafee (using Windows Essentials), and when I did that, Internet worked for 5-10mins then crashed again.
- checked the Mac filtering settings on my router settings

Also, my computer crashed the other day (got a blue screen, shut itself down). I posted the details in the thread.

Finally, my great friend the moderator Etaf asked me to post this to see if I have a problem that this forum could help me with ... I read the 1st post, here is the mentioned information (I couldn't do #3 because I run on 64-bit):

Hello all,

Well it started yesturday when I got home. I couldnt connect to the internet, tried restarting everything (pc, modem and router) and still nothing. It says "identifiying...no network access" the whole time on the bottom. Roommates all connect wirelessly perfectly (embarrassingly im supposed to be the computer person) and wired to the one that would be going to my pc.

I also have a asus mobo with "express gate" so when I boot up I can use the mobo and software on the HD to access the internet (which works, so I know that my hardware is fine) but when I boot into w7 it doesnt let me connect! These problems started last night!

This morning I need to check something for school, did a system restore to 2/4 and still didnt work.

I tried following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18203-internet-troubleshooting-guide.html and ipconfig/all, noticed I have a IPv4 (says preferred after the ip), subnet mask, dns servers, but no default gateway to continue the tutorial.

I then hard reset my router and still wouldnt work. Im out of ideas now. I dont have a dvd drive anymore so dont know if I can reinstall windows (dont have time now have a test tommorow!) so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advanced!

Also note:
In internet options, the lan settings are set to auto connect.
Windows firewall is off
I uninstalled AVG thinking it had something to do with it

I am using this connection for past 6 months and it's working fine. all of sudden from yesterday I am not able to connect to internet. I am getting yellow Warning symbol on the network sharing icon in task bar.
When I connect the same connection to my friends laptop, are bale to connect to internet.
I ran diagnostics and it's not able to run "local network communication test".
Error Reason : the default gateway is populated with 0.0.0.0
I had checked in cmd prompt for my adapter settings. there also Default gateway is empty.

I had tried Following things
1.DHCP is enabled
2.Turned off my AV(microsoft essentials)
3.reset WINSOCK, IPv4 TCP/IP, and IPv6 TCP/IP stack.rnet
4.Unistalled &installed the driver(n/w adapter : Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E gigbit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20))
5. n/w trouble shoot report says "local area connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration
Nothing worked. What doesn't make sense is till yesterday everything is working fine and I didn't make any changes on my system.

Hi guys, so I have a HP mini and for some reason it suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet!! I've clicked repair-- no luck. I've done that ipconfig/renew thing--didn't work.

My IP now starts with 169, and that is new. Could that be something to do with it?

The network detail thing doesnt have any default gateway, DNS server or WINS server, if that is relevant.

I am computer illiterate and I'm really really hoping someone can help me! Thanks so much you guys!

Hey,

So I'm somewhat of an idiot when it comes to computers, and I'm having quite a hard time here.

I currently have 3 laptops running on a D-Link DIR-615 wireless router.

2 of them are running fine, but the 3rd one can't connect to the Internet. Well, sometimes it will for a few seconds, but most of the time, it will time out, and Internet's always dropped.

When I ran a Intel PROset/Wireless Manual Diagnostic, all the test pass except for the Ping Test. Sometimes, it will say "Response: Default Gateway, No Response: DHCP server", although most of the times, both have no response.

Here's the interesting thing: I have the laptop for about 6 weeks now. At the beginning, it worked perfectly well. After 4 weeks, Internet kept crashing. Did a system restore, and Internet worked for a few days ...then, out of the blue, started crashing again, and now I can't connect ever (even though I always show a strong signal reception on my icon).

I have no idea what to do here. I've been going through forums, tried the following:

- Changing wireless channel
- TCP/IP stack repair options
- Calling Dell (what a joke that was...)

I just don't understand why one laptop doesn't connect (even though it did 3 weeks ago without problem) and the 2 other ones work great ...my roomates are getting tired of me borrowing their laptops, so I need to figure this out!
PLEASE HELP !!!

Thanks !!

and welcome to the Forum

Is yours farther from the router than the others? Have you installed the newest driver for the wireless adaptor?

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

First:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Then:

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

How to Remove Stored Wireless Network Profiles for XP, Vista, and Windows 7

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

Then:

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

then please Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you ge... Read more

My mom has a dell inspiron running windows 7. She has DSL network and everything was working fine, then all the sudden it quit connecting to the internet. I hooked my laptop to her 2-wire modem/router and was able to connect. I then took her desktop to my house and connected it to my network. Same problem. I have it wired to both routers. I can do ipconfig and receive all the correct IP, subnet, gateway and DNS as on my pc, but it will not connect to the network, I can also not ping the gateway from the pc. I have also made all the entries static and still no luck. I have ran malawarebytes and CCleaner. Still no luck. Any ideas? When I run troubleshooter in Windows it states "The default gateway is not available". I have also tried running it back to a previous install point, reinstalling nic driver and logging in with a different users. I have exhausted all options that I know to do. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a small network with a multi-homed server. The 1st NIC on the server has an IP address of 192.168.2.1 and the default gateway was set to 192.168.2.7. The Second NIC card has an IP of 10.0.2.7 and no default gateway given. The client PC's are configured for DHCP, and when they log in, are successfully given an IP address and the default gateway I assigned on the first card.
However, here is where my problem lies:
The server can ping both cards
The clients can only ping the 1st card.
Neither the Server or clients can ping the default gateway.

I have RIP installed, and IP Forwarding marked, so I can't understand why the default gateway is not working.

Anyone know anything on this?

A:{Solved} - Unable to Ping Default Gateway on Multi-homed Server

Greetings

Ok... since you have not given all the information, let me make a guess at what it is:

192.168.2.7 = IP address of a router to the rest of the world
10.0.2.x = Internal network

Ok... here is the problem:

You have given the client's the IP address of the router as their router... however, it is NOT on their network.

This is what you need to do:

Change the default gateway settings on the client's machines to the IP address 10.0.2.7 (and add the 198.168.2.1 address as the default gateway on the server).

So... this is how the routing works. I am on a client machine, and I want to talk to the world. I send my packet to my Default gateway (the server). The server then routes it from itself (on the 10.x.x.x network) to that network card's default gateway (the NIC on the 192.168.x.x network). It then goes from that NIC to that NIC's default gateway, 192.168.2.7, and out to the world.

I hope this helps

Hello, the ping test is entirely useless if you are not actually connected to the network Please describe your issue in more details, including any messages or errors that you receive when you try to connect to your wireless router; what kind of wireless security is on the router, what make and model, if you are able to connect any other computers or devices to it...you get the point.

Both my laptop an desktop have stopped connecting to the internet through the router in my house. Both are connecting to the network but without internet access.
The laptop is a hp pavilion g6 running windows 7, and the desktop is an older hp running vista.

I've seen on other threads that the first thing to do is ipconfig /all
and then to ping the default gateway and then trying other sites, so below is all of that stuff from the desktop.

I live in a student house and no one else in the house is having any problems and my phone and xbox are both still able to connect through the wifi no problem. I've tried using an ethernet cable to connect my laptop but it made no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

A:IE 6 or 7 won't connect to my default gateway but firefox will

It sounds like there is an advanced setting in Internet explorer that is not enabled. im not sure specifically what it might be but that seems most obvious. When you install IE 7 it is supposed to mimic your previous settings from IE 6. So if you had problems with IE 6 then its normal to have problems with IE 7. Have you always had this problem or is new?

It connects to the wireless box and has full signal but an exclamation mark is present
I have run some tests and the IPv4 and IPv6 say they have no internet access
I also run a full test and everything passed except the ping test which failed and it said:
no response:default gateway
response: dhcp server

it suggested disabling security firewall but i'm not sure if that's the correct thing to do or even how to do that!
Any help would be much appreciated

Ok, new problem my boss encountered today, actually it was three times at three different customers:

Computer cannot get out to the internet. I would list hardware, but all three machines are different, laptop, desktop, dell, hp, lenovo, etc...

IE comes back with a DNS problem whenever a web page is accessed. seems like its a DNS problem, but pinging www.google.com goes through, so there must be something activley resolving the dns. No programs can access internet for updates or for program functions, except email can be received, not sent.

Tried everything, all the ipconfig options, winsockfix, new NIC etc.... Keep in mind all three of these machines were connected to routers where there were no other problems on the other machines on the network. Ran smitfraudfix and combofix, and came back with nothing infecting the machine as far as their scope goes.

So after trying this all for hours at the customers place, he finally decided to try it in safe mode with networkng, and it worked as if there was no problem. When msconfig was looked at to see the startup items and what could have been causing it, nothing peculiar stood out.

So any thoughts, i personally think its a new virus or spyware that is not on the def. list yet. So aside from a reinstall, what other things could this be? do i have to change msconfig one line at a time and reboot X amount of times to isolate it? HELP PLEASE!

-Tenz

A:No internet, yet ping works and Internet gateway says connected

have you tried connecting any of those computers directly to your modem, its very unlikely for 3 computers to have their outgoing blocked as you said only thing that works is mail incoming. but then again if all there computers have the same problem, you might want to try re-registering their dll's..

if it's really a dns problem, it wouldn't even let you ping the website itself other than using their ip's

Hi guys,

I am having a problem setting up a network. I am attached to a work network with intranet and from previous experience, I should be able to connect to any of the other computers using a program like VNC viewer. The problem is that while I can ping all the computers on my own modem, I cannot ping a computer using another modem. I can ping the default gateway of this other modem, but whenever I try this computer on that network, the connection times out. At first I thought it was due to the subnet mask, which was different under DHCP, but when I set both computers to the same subnet mask (on static ips). I still was unable to ping the other computer. Please Help.

-i am able to see the gateway's address (12.228.222.1)
-an ipconfig/all reports that i am connected
-i CAN'T access the internet (or anything else over the network)
-i CAN'T ping the gateway (times out)
-it doesn't seem to be a network issue because no one else seems to have this problem at the hotel or even in my room.
-i don't think it's my wireless card because i CAN connect at work, starbucks, and pretty much everywhere else.
-it is NOT a password protected network so it's not an issue with that.

i am set to automatically receive an ip address so i don't think that's the problem. i have also tried letting windows manage my WiFi but this hasn't helped. so, there it is. i'm really at a loss here.

any ideas?

Hello everyone!

Not so long ago, my girlfriend had a power outage and after that, her net never returned.
I've been looking to find the cause of the problem, thinking it was only Comcast network that had died for a little moment.
The internet was lost yesterday around midnight. It gives no Wifi Signal, nor ethernet, so I am guessing it is not only a computer problem.

So I checked around the internet to find what could be the problem. Since I cannot be there physically to check it out myself, I had to monitor her. Suposely unplugging, waiting 30 seconds, and replugging the power into the modem did not do anything. The lights are on, and seem fine.
Plugging the modem straight into the computer also dosen,t work.

On the computer itself, there is no default gateway, and when she tries to type ipconfig /reset, it gives an error message: "An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket."
So I was thinking maybe it could of been a Winsock error?

I'm rather confused of what to do right now to solve the problem.
Thank you very much for your consideration and future help!

A:No default gateway nor internet

Is the following summary of my interpretation correct?

She has Comcast internet service, a modem and router or a modem/router combo, and no more than one device (a computer) with ethernet or Wi-Fi capability.

When connecting an ethernet cable between modem (or modem/router?) and computer does the ethernet LED light on the modem? On the computer?

In Device Manager under Network Adapters does the ethernet appear as "OK"? Same question for the wireless.

It would probably speed trouble shooting considerably if another device could be used to check the router's ethernet and/or Wi-Fi or if the computer could be tested on another network.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem which has got even my ISP stumped!

Basically, I'm using a broadband modem, which appears to be connecting fine, with all the required lights being on. My ISP says that, from their end, everything is perfect. Even my laptop shows Local Area Network as connected.

However, for some reason, I am not able to access the internet. I was able to use it till last evening, but suddenly the internet stopped working. On Google Chrome, it says that there is no DNS or something.

Subsequently, when I tried to access my modem settings, it shows as 'webpage not available'. I then noticed that there is no default gateway! I was able to access it the day before, but now I can't.

A tech guy from my ISP had set the IP address and DNS manually (just mentioning this, in case it may help).

Can anyone please help in this regard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If additional information is required, I can provide it.

Thanks a ton in advance!

Hello

I have a Toshiba (Windows 7) laptop with a Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E network card.

Lately I have returned home after travelling for a few months only to find that whenever I'm in my bedroom, my Internet will disconnect for no reason and whenever I troubleshoot problems it fixes itself and says the error was "Default Gateway was not found" Only to happen again 30 seconds later!

Sometimes it is fine for almost an hour and sometimes it disconnects 10 times in 5 minutes!

This hasn't happened anywhere else (and I travelled all around the US/Canada using various WI-FI connections) and it only happens in my bedroom! If I walk into the next room it works perfectly without disconnecting at all.

Does anyone know what the issue could be?

- I'm pretty sure my network card is updated

I own a 2 year old Toshiba Netbook and am having problems with connecting to my university's internet. When connected to the wireless I am constantly disconnected. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the default gate was is not available. It resets my wireless adapter and I can connect for 5-10 minutes before I have to repeat the process. Needless to say this is very frustrating. When I asked my university's tech support they suggested a full system restore. I would rather not have to deal with that. please help

I'm wondering why your not using a private address range and why your router is subnetting a class b address. If this is a personal router for only yourself that is not needed. If its the universitys router for everyone to connect to then that's a differnt story. I will check the subnerting tomorrow.

Post the ipconfig /all for when you have connection and when you don't. Specify which is which.

Also I noticed your running a ipv6 to ipv4 tunnel.

update

I need more information. The subnetting looks fine, but i need to know if you're running off a campus router or your own personal router. If this is a campus router and you're getting DHCP from them then there's not much i can do for you other then trying to disable your IPV6 to IPV4 tunnel. Also do you know why you're running on a public IP address?

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc

try the following pings

Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

For Windows 8
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. My Internet connection keeps getting dropped, and when I run the troubleshooter, I can get two different messages: "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding" or "The default gateway is not available." When I get the former, I might as well give up getting on the Internet. When I get the latter, the problem can be fixed. Any amount of time later, my connection is dropped again. It can be a day or just a couple of minutes.

I used to have a router, but when this problem happened, I wired it straight from the satellite to the modem, from the modem to the computer.

I contacted my ISP, and we ran through several steps all for nothing. I connected my old laptop, and it works just fine.

You've got a slew of tunnel adapters in there that may be interfering. Try running this from an elevated command prompt:

So I have a 64 bit of windows 7, and since yesterday I started having the default gateway problem. My computer will connect to my wireless for about a minute or two, and then fall to limited network access. I can troubleshoot the problems, and it will come up with several different responses after fixing the issue. The repairs will last about a minute or two before falling again. I have read on other threads about very similar problems, but I don't understand how to fix the issue. I have a shared CISCO DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 router serviced by Cox broadband internet. I do not have AVG or McAfee (I heard those were common issues here,) and I had just restored my computer to factory settings today, hoping to fix the problem, to no avail. The problem persisted before and after the factory reset. (though it has only been an issue, as far as I've noticed, since yesterday.) I had been connected to this internet with no problems for weeks now previously.

I looked on another thread about this and they said that wifi miniports and tunnel adapters aren't helpful, both of which I have, but I don't know how to get rid of them, or which ones to get rid of.

I am able to connect to the internet on this computer via tethering from my phone so I'm not sure whether it's the router or my wireless adapter.

I don't know much at all about the deep inner workings of wifi so if you could make responses as simple as possible, I would appreciate it alot. (sorry in advance, haha.)

A:internet keeps getting lost. Default gateway is not available

Try power cycling your equipment first. Unplug both the router and modem for about a minute or so; then reconnect the modem first and let that boot; then do the router and let that boot. Doing this should hopefully refresh all your connections. If that does not do anything; check for firmware updates for your router and possibly the modem as well. Try these things and report back if it doesnt do anything.
