Storage Manager disappeared in Computer Management.

Q: Storage Manager disappeared in Computer Management.

Disk Management disappeared in Computer Management.
anyone have tips for bringing it back out

Preferred Solution: Storage Manager disappeared in Computer Management.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For he past 3 days my Slimtype DVD player was not noticed by my laptop at all. Even worse, my device manager does not recognize the DVD drive even though the drive is in working order (i.e. it can still open and close). This drive has worked well enough for the past five years and has been working properly until I installed some updates from the Windows update center. But I don't which update(s) caused my DVD drive to disappear. So after numerous attempts to fix the problem through Microsoft's Fix It Service (Boo!) I decided to restore my computer to its factory settings (OS: Windows Vista 32-bit) hoping that would restore the functionality of my DVD Drive. Alas, that did not even work! The only remnant of my DVD's functionality with Windows a registry key :

as shown by the following image but nowhere else. I have tried everything to fix this problem from the removing the upper filters and lower filters to reformatting my computer. Is their any other possible problem with my DVD?

Thank you

So my issue is ... I had a HDD specific for "extra storage" for games/music/pics.. etc..

it was working fine, but seems to has just disappeared...

CMD - disk part - list disk (only shows 2)
Manage - rescan disks - shows the bus where the HDD is located but (uninitialized and OFFline) but shows other 2

Disk partition from windows - only shows the 2 i have...

aside from, removing my computer cover and actually disconnecting and reconnecting..

does anyone know of another way to scan for the connected SATA HDD?

I need  to use NT backup on windows 7 machines, there is an NT backup utility from MS that I have downloaded but I need removable storage management to install the download(RSM). RSM is not available on Windows 7 and I need to know if there is a way

Previously, I had installed Windows 7 on a new SSD and also installed a new 1TB hard drive for file storage, photos, and programs. The SSD crashed and I had to get another one. I just installed Windows on it and then added my hard drive, which still has files on it when I ran the first SSD.

The hard drive shows in BIOS but not in My Computer. I went to Disk Management and it was listed as Foreign. I read that I should choose the option, Import Foreign Disk, which I did. I kept the same drive letter it had the first time around, and which showed this time, W. It is now listed as Disk 1, Dynamic Online, & Healthy. Now what do I need to do to continue to use it as I did previously, while keeping my data? I don't want to lose my files and photos, but I can always download the software again if I lose the programs.

A:Windows Live Mail storage folder disappeared

To restore these storage folders, simply choose to unhide them from the Windows Live Mail layout options.

Use the Alt-M key combination to bring up a small drop down menu.
Select ?Layout?.
Choose ?Folder pane? and put a check mark in front of ?Show Storage folders?.
The disappeared / missing storage folders will be restored in the Windows Live Mail program.

During a six week holiday I've been accessing my emails from a Kindle and pretty sure I've not deleted anything, but returning home I opened Windows Live Mail to find all the storage folders intact, but the subfolders have disappeared.

i.e. If I open a folder I find all the emails under it. But if I open a folder marked 'Groups', under which there were four sub-folders (e.g. tennis, bridge, etc) then there's no emails in them. The emails under those folders are nowhere to be found.

So, going on the Internet to Hotmail, and opening my email account there, I find the storage folders intact with all of the missing emails (phew!).

How can I restore them to WLM on my PC? I've tried 'synchronisation settings' and doing manual 'send/receive' but no joy. I've checked and they're not in the 'deleted' section.

But they exist on my PC when I did a search for .eml files. In fact under App Data\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Hotmail I then find all of the sub folders entirely intact with contents. How can I restore them to the Windows Live Mail application?

So I manually created the missing sub-folders in Windows Live Mail and then tried a 'send/receive' but still no joy.

Baffled ... all advice most welcome and gratefullu received.

A:Windows Live Mail - emails disappeared in storage folders

Answered my own question in the end. Went into Windows Live Mail and deleted the email account. Then added the email account, waited for synchonisation to finish with the server and, hey presto, everything is recovered and restored and all the subfolders and contents are there. I have absolutely no idea what happened, what the glitch was, but just wanted to report how it got fixed.

Ok here is a question that probably doesn't need to be asked and probably doesn't have a satisfactory answer:

I save a little time by using the "Search" box to access Drives and Devices. So why is it "Device manager" and "Drive management"? Why can't it be "Drive Manager" and "Device Management"? Wouldn't it be logical to be "Device Manager" and "Drive Manager"? or "Device Management" and "Drive Management"?

Never mind.

I have an Ideadpad Y500 (Model 20193) running Windows 8.1. It has the original/factory 15gb mSATA SSD and ~1tb conventional SATA HDD. The two drives (SSD and HDD) are managed by Intel Rapid Storage, a sort of software RAID management utility. Although Windows Disk Management (via Control Panel \ Administrative Tools) sees the two drives as separate devices (see below), they are in a RAID, so to normal Windows, they just look like a single HDD. I want to remove the SSD from the RAID. It is throwing frequent errors. My Windows Event Viewer (via Control Panel \ Administrative Tools) is full of hundreds thousands of warnings about problems with the SSD. It is nearing end of life. A few times a day the computer will reboot -- but only when running Windows. When I am running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Linux) it will run for a year without rebooting. I suspect that the Ubuntu installation is bypassing the Intel Rapid Storage software RAID and just directly using the ~1tb SATA HDD (ignoring the 15gb SSD).  I can access the Intel Rapid Storage management program in Windows, but it doesn't give me the option to break apart the RAID; to remove the SSD from the RAID. Supposedly there's a way to access it during POST by pressing ctrl-I, but that doesn't work for me. I can't figure out how to access the Intel Rapid Storage management via BIOS and that's the only place where I could (in theory) break apart the RAID and remove the SSD from the equation.  I realize, of course,... think but not 100% sure its either raid configuration software but you probably not using raid or your bios is set to check hard disc for errors, have look in bios on dell press delete or maybe f2 on start up , look to see whats enabled, for example there may be halt for errors or halt for HDD errors enabled or no halt

Is MegaRaid Storage Manager necessary for Windows 7 to function or can it be uninstalled?

A:MegaRaid Storage Manager

Hello Gunny,

That would be part of the driver for your LSI SAS/RAID controller chip on your motherboard. I would recommend to leave it installed.

MegaRAID Storage Manager software enables you to configure, monitor and maintain storage configurations on LSI SAS controllers. The MegaRAID Storage Manager graphical user interface (GUI) makes it easy for you to create and manage storage configurations.

Hope this helps,

Intel Core i7-7560U @ 2.40GHz

(this thread follows this one)
I installed "Dell Command | Power Manager" (v 2.2.0).
In "Thermal Management" when switching between the 4 presets (Optimized, Cool, Quiet and Ultra Performance) it seems that only the first change is working.
For example :
If I boot with Ultra Performance and decide after to go to Quiet to get rid of fan noise, it works, almost instantly. I monitor what happens with my ears  and with HWiNFO64 and BurnIn Test :
In Ultra Performance all Core Clock are not maxed, reached 3792 MHz (that's the Turbo Speed for Intel Core i7-7560U @ 2.40GHz) and Fan at 6100 RPM
In Quiet each Core Clock seems maxed at ~1696 MHz (although in some of my tests I have seen it at ~2395Mhz, perhaps it's Optimized preset and not Quiet) and CPU Fan at 0 RPM
After that If I choose Ultra Performance mode nothings happens. CPU sticks to the maxed Core Clock until I reboot.
Very annoying to have to reboot to switch back to another thermal mode.

currently using Paragon HD Manager 2010 Pro and i'm curious about the Boot Manager feature that it has.

I currently have Ubuntu 10.10 x64 dual booted with my Windows 7 X64. I installed Windows 7 first, then ubuntu.

When i boot up my computer it uses GRUB which is the loader for Ubuntu, and i can select Windows 7 from this menu.

What i want to know is, will paragon boot manager basically do the same thing for me? I know GRUB is doing this for me, but when i update the kernel in ubuntu it adds un-needed entries at boot which is tacky and ugly and i dont like it and i'm nervous about configuring GRUB =)

I have my machine backed up so if i mess anything up, i'm safe. I figured i'd post my question here to see if i can avoid restoring from backup or maybe get some insight that will blow me away and make me feel stupid. -Fingers Crossed.-

You can customize the look as well (background image and colors and much more).

Compaq laptop 3000, WinXP, Conexant HDAudio soft data fax modem with smart pc, dialup - basicisp.net.

The laptop and phone line are hooked to a battery backup with surge protection. During a thunderstorm I was online with my cordless keyboard in my lap along with my puppy who was excited by the thunder. She was walking around all over my keyboard. When I finally got her settled and got back to what I was doing, I discovered I had been disconnected. When I tried to reconnect I could not. I checked the phone line at my laptop and do have a dial tone. I checed the ISP properties and under the connecting device it says Modem Removed (it does list the modem, however). Do you think it was fried by lightning or did the puppy step on some key that removed it? It was listed in Control Panel/Phone and Modem Options/Modems until I removed it hoping Windows would reinstall it. I tried Sys Restore, Last Known Good Config, turning off comp and disconnecting power. Nothing seems to work. When I try Add Hardware it says it cannot find a modem.

Searching online someone said to physically remove the modem, boot up, shut down, reinsert modem, boot up again and windows would find it and install it????? If that would work I do not know how to remove the modem in a laptop.

It is under warranty and I do have home owner's insurance. I thought there might be a simple fix without having to replace the modem. Any ideas?

A:Modem disappeared from device manager

You can't physically remove an internal modem in a laptop. The person who said that didn't understand your hardware configuration.

Every time a post starts with "There was a thunderstorm...." the problem could have certainly been caused by an electrical surge.

Try the fix at Kelly's Korner.Restore the Device Manager - #107 on the right.Right click on it and save the .reg file to your desktop. Then, double click on the file icon (on your desktop) to merge it into your registry. You may need to reboot your computer for the changes to take affect. With any fix like this you should create a new restore point and backup the registry first. For backing up the registry I like to use ERUNT.

Can somebody tell me what angle I can try a solution? THanks

I'm not sure it would be AVG... thats a pretty solid AV. Do you have a firewall? It is possible that someone planted a malicious code on your harddrive. Get on from www.download.com and search for Zone Alarm and Ad aware 6 and Spybot Search and Destroy... it's free.

Run scan disk, check for viruses (again) Defragment, clear all temp files, history, cookies... Delete all spyware and adware... back up ONLY the important files... you may need to do a System Recovery. But wait until other suggestions!

I cant enable nor find Bluetooth in device manager. I can see it in the control panel and in services.msc. But it disappeared in PC Settings > PC and Devices > Devices and also disappeared in device manager. It was there before and now its gone.
I tried reinstalling the Intel Pro Wireless Wifi driver to see if that could help but it didn't. How do I get this back?

Last month, after a reboot i realised that i didn't have sound!

I checked at the device manager, but it wasn't listed there!

the problem with this soundcard is that it fits only in same motherboards so it wasn't easy to test it. Finally i found someone with this mobo and tested the sound card, it worked like a charm!

I tried again at my pc, but the soundcard isn't listed at my device manager...

then i decided to try with a different OS, i used a Kubuntu Live CD, i had sound!!!

To sum up, the soundcard works, the slot on the mobo works, but something is wrong with my windows 7 installation.

The easy way was to format it, but i do not want to format my os now.

i also followed this guide, but the soundcard wasn't listed there.

is there a way to fix this?

thanks in advance for your help!
