I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

can the flex 2 14 inch wifi card be user upgraded to 802.11AC compatible wifi card, and if so could you tell me the compatible part?  is it dual band? Thanks in advance, that is the thing holding me from making a purchase before the April 1st deadline of current sale.

A:can Flex 2 14 wifi card be upgraded to AC compatible card?

Three years late.  The answer is "Yes!" The Lenovo Flex 2 14/15 can be upgraded with a compatible wireless-AC card. The card detailed below can be installed successfully in the Flex 2-14 and it's pretty much a plug-n-play device under Windows 10. Drivers are installed automagically so that the 2GHz and 5GHz wireless and Bluetooth can be accessed. I have two Lenovo Flex 2 laptops each running this exact wireless card. Make sure the wireless card you install matches the details listed below. Or else you'll get an "incompatible wireless module detected" error message when you try to boot the laptop. Name: Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 3160Model: 3160NGWFCC ID: PD93160NGUTA: H45043-003FRU: 04X6076EC: 770009 A genuine "Lenovo branded" Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 3160 wireless card can be purchased from: http://us.eetgroup.com/i/04X6076-Lenovo-Wireless-Module I've attached a picture of the correct wireless card.

I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter and I've been searching online but can't find definative info.

I checked online where I could check this and everywhere I founds seems to say check the advanced section of my Wireless Driver, but I can't tell if it is or not. It doesn't look like it is.

So I bought my laptop, a Pavilion 17-f113dx a little over 3 years ago.  I am swapping the drive for an ssd drive and I thought while I go to all the trouble of disassembling the laptop that I would change out the wifi card with a dual wifi/bluetooth card to improve wireless performance. I understand that there may be a whitelist in the bios of compatabile cards for a laptop this old.  Where would I be able to find that list?  Or is there a solution short of installing a hacked bios?

A:Compatible wifi dual card for 17-f113dx

Hi: There is no whitelist, but there is almost a bigger problem... 1. The notebook requires extensive disassembly to get to the wireless card.  If you can overcome that, then #2 is the killer. 2.  On most of these newer HP notebooks with single band wlan cards, there is only one antenna connected to the card, and there isn't a second one present. A dual band card such as the Intel 7260 N or AC requires 2 antennas to work. It will take even more disassembly including the display panel area to run the 2nd antenna. Do not rely on the picture in the service manual which normally shows two antennas. You will need to physically inspect your notebook's situation before buying a replacement card. If it has two antennas, then you are good to go. I would recommend the Intel 7260 dual band N or AC card for your 3 year old notebook.

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Hello everyone,

I just bought the Wireless N PCI Adapter (TL-WN851ND) from TP-LINK for my Windows 10 PC. It says that it's compatible for Windows 7/Vista/XP but it doesn't say Windows 10 on there. I thought that since it works on Windows 7, it will probably work on Windows 10 aswell, but since I inserted the card and have it running my computer freezes randomly and gives me a blue screen sometime later. The blue screen also says MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. Sometimes when I turn the PC on it will freeze and go to the blue screen while loading Windows 10.

Is there any possible way to make this adapter compatible for Windows 10 without it freezing all the time which leads to me having to reboot the computer over and over again?

A:Making a hardware for Windows7 compatible with Windows10 (Wifi card)

When I tried to install the driver that came with the hardware it said that it doesn't work on this operating system (Windows 10).
I installed a different random driver that I found in the internet, but it still freezes every now and then.

Hi Guys,

I'm currently trying to work out a problem regarding my WiFi card on my L670-14M.

The old Wifi card died on us, so I decided to buy a Intel 7620 card to replace it. This installed fine, and is recognized by the device manager, and I can now find the wifi card in the adapter settings menu.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to go any further. The wireless logo in the corner appears, but with a red "X" through it.

I've tried:
Disabling and enabling the cardUsing the FN+F8 key combinationUpdating the BIOSRunning the troubleshooter (It tells me to switch on the WiFi capabilities via a switch on the computer or the FN keys. I have no switch and the FN key combination doesn't work.I've also attempted to clear the TCP/IP stack to no avail.

All I can guess now is that the card is either incompatible with this laptop, or maybe there's something in the registry that could be changed/removed to help? I've tried several different cards too (as this is a work laptop and we've bought the cards in bulk) and it's not due to a faulty card.

Thanks,

YoYoMachete

hello there, i have recently upgraded my service to 200mbs with a dual band smart router, modem and router capable of 1000mbs, after upgrade i come to find my wifi card only recieves 2.4ghz channel, its pitiful that my cell phone can get 140mbs on 5ghz and my new laptop can only get 100mbs via ethernet and less than 20mbs wireless, i took it to the local computer store and he did not want to touch the machine because this model is extremely hard to get into and i have read that if it only has One antenna i would have to disassemble the display aswell , so i am basically asking several questions, (1) can i upgrade to a card that is 2 x 2 A/b/g/n/AC 867mbs  like the intel 7260 or 8260 (2) does this machine have the required 2 antennas so i do not have to take apart the display?. i find it ludacris that this machine came out in 2016 and is not capable of reaching passed 100mbs, i would have never purchsed it, i intend to keep upgrading speed as long as my ISP keeps giving me good deals on service, i pay $60 for 200mbs.....card is realtek RTL8723benf Single band 2.4ghz 100mbs......thank you in advance

I have an Inspiron N7110, which came with an Intel centrino N 1030 wireless network card. Intel just updated the drivers for the 1030 on all OS's except windows 10. My internet connection goes on and off constantly. I found a pretty short list on intel.com of windows 10 supported drivers:
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260
Intel® Wireless-N 7260
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7265
Intel® Wireless-N 7265
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (64-bit only)
Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265
Intel® Wireless Gigabit 11000
I'm hoping someone knows if any of the above wifi cards would be fit for a replacement of my 1030.

A:Must Upgrade Wifi Card

If your N7110 uses a Mini-PCIe slot, the best card you can get is the Intel 7260AC, but make sure you get the HMW version, not the NGFF version. If your system uses an M.2/NGFF slot, I would recommend the Intel 8265.

I just recently bought an Intel 3160HMW because I've upgraded another PC of mine with it with good success.  I installed it in my 8560w and when I boot, I get an error saying that there is an "Unsupported WLAN Module" and it will be disabled. I was able to install it with it booted and running and it installed and it worked perfectly but when I rebooted, it gave me the error and disabled it without an option in Windows to enable it. I didn't know until after my issues about the HP whitelisting for hardware and I'm guessing that this module is not on that whitelist. I really want to upgrade to a card with Bluetooth and Dual Band Wifi to keep it up with the latest networking.  I saw in the manual that there are like 3 or 4 "approved" wifi modules and none of them have built in bluetooth or dual band. Are there any more modules that are approved that are not listed in the manual on the HP website? Also, I don't want to mess with USB dongles.  I already have a 4.0 Bluetooth dongle and want to get rid of it for a built in module.

A:Wifi Card Upgrade

Hi: Unfortunately, there aren't. Your notebook has the BIOS whitelist, so you have to use one of the wlan cards listed in the manual.  And the wlan card must have the HP part number on it or it will not work.  I usually go on eBay and query by the part number, and only buy an item that clearly shows the white "Replace with HP Spare' sticker with the P/N on the label. Your only option as I see it, would be to get the best intel card listed...the 6300 (if your notebook has 3 antennas), and the optional bluetooth module. Otherwise get the 6205. The 6300 and 6205 are dual band wlan cards without bluetooth. http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-ultimate-n-6300.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-advanced-n-6205.html The problem is that the required bluetooth cable is not sold separately and is part of the cable kit. See chapter 3 of the service manual for the BT module part number and the cable kit part number. http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03424153-1.pdf Chapter 4 has the R&R procedures for the BT module and cable. You might be lucky, and the BT cable is already included in your notebook.

A:Wifi card upgrade

Good news: no whitelist Possible bad news: on HP laptops shipped with "budget" wireless cards, HP often only installed a single wireless antenna which effectively hampers meaningful upgrade.  So, before proceeding we need to have you open her up and count the wireless antennae. Easy to do on your model.  See p. 44 here: Manual Once you let us know (2 or 1)if it's 2 we can find you a 7260ac card to install. About $25 on amazon.com

Hi: Unfortunately, your notebook's BIOS has the whitelist which means you can only install one of the supported wireless network cards listed in the service manual for your notebook. It also must have the HP part number on it or it will not work. The Intel 7260 AC card will definitely not work in your notebook.

Hi, From the first manual of the following link:      http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5145704/model/5172313/manuals Your machine was built in year 2011. The chance to upgrade to 5GHz wireless card is very slim to none. There is a list of wifi cards supported on page 5, none of them is dual band. You can use:           http://www.netgear.com.au/home/products/networking/wifi-adapters/a6200.aspx?cid=gwmng or         http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/c/technology/networking/wireless-usb-adapters Regards.

Hello,I want to upgrade my laptop's wifi card to a 5Ghz one? I want to get the most out of my Wifi.I figured that there is a BIOS whitelist that approves the upgrade for Wifi cards. Does anyone know that I can upgrade on mine? And if I can, does anyone know which one is a good 5Ghz card with Bluetooth module?Waiting for a reply.RegardsZarak.

A:WiFi Card Upgrade

Hi,There is no BIOS whitelist in your 5th gen Intel core processor notebookBut you've to make sure your laptop has 2 antennas on the wireless card at present before you can put dual band card. Otherwise you've to do major disassembly of notebook to add another antenna all the way to the display assembly. These are good ones that should be compatible:Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0, HP Part number : 710661-001Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0, HP Part number : 717381-001Page 61: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04409502Needs major disassembly to reach the slot.RegardsVisruth

USB dongles generally come with a little mini-driver disk but they usually use a common chipset like Broadcom or Atheros for which Windows will likely just provide the driver and it will be plug and play

We are experiencing wifi interference between our probook and Netgear AC791 Jet Pack in some RV parks where we stay. The jetpack can use 5 ghz as can all our other devices, our probook can't. The jetpack can transmit on both, but is much slower on dual band than on either 2.4 or 5 ghz. so, how much effort and is it possible to upgrade the wifi in our probook to 5 ghz? Thanks for any direction you can provide.

A:Is it possible to upgrade my wifi card

GrumpyOldTimer Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Sorry, but with laptops, the WiFi is integrated into the system board with a chipset. This is not a customer-replaceable part.

A:Upgrade the Wifi Card in My HP 17-e118dx

Hi: You should be able to, if your notebook currently has two antenna leads attached to the wireless card. Since your notebook has an AMD processor and chipset, you would be limited to installing a Broadcom dual band wireless N card with bluetooth, or a Broadcom dual band wireless AC card with bluetooth. 99% of the time, Intel wireless cards don't work on AMD platforms. If your notebook only has one antenna lead, you would have to be willing and able to take the whole notebook apart including the display panel area, to properly run a second antenna.

I have a Pavilion dv 9750us notebook computer. I've updated my 'elderly' notebook computer to windows 10 (64-bit). However, the dual-band wifi card is no longer supported so I can't get the drivers to work; I get frequent BSODs and restarts plus I loose internet (but not network connectivity) on this computer only. The other six networked devices NEVER loose internet. I have searched forums (fora?) for solutions, and have tried work-arounds and changed settings to no avail. I would like to upgrade the original a/b/g mini pci card to a nice new sexy dual-band ac one. The existing card (intel 4965) is held in with two screws (it's the longer card format, not the shorter one) and has THREE wires connected; the online photos of the new cards aren't showing the antenna wire connectors well enough for me to be sure they have three connectors. Could someone please recommend one or more suitable cards?  I would prefer to replace the card rather than use a USB adapter, since my older computer only has USB 1.0 and would bottleneck data transfer. Other than this one problem, my computer still moves along at a VERY good pace and is super dependable! Many thanks!

Hi George,Manual: Page 21, 44http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04091762Yes you can.I would go for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11ac 1×1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter , HP part number 710662-001 as you may well have only single antenna built in.RegardsVisruth

I have installed W7 X64 Enterprise on my Tecra M5 (PTM51A) , Installed 4Gb of Memory. Now I want to upgrade the WiFi to N300 with a WiFi card that will load the drivers. I tried an Intel 5100 ABGN (not the Toshiba PA3655U-MPC version) but it will not work. I can only conclude the Tecra is looking for their version.

Question for me & others: What WiFi N300 cards will install?

Thanks Johnp4216

A:Tecra M5 - WiFi card upgrade

Problem is that officially WLAN card upgrade is not supported and unfortunately there is no info about that. On this forum you can find many threads with the same theme. If you have some time try to use advanced search option and check if you can find some info about WLAN card upgrade.
