I add xtra paper tray (tray3), now I can't print to tray2 unless I pull out tray3!

Q: I add xtra paper tray (tray3), now I can't print to tray2 unless I pull out tray3!

I have a nice LaserJet 2500n, it has a dropdown tray labeled 1, and it has a 250 paper paper tray labeled 2. Everything is fine and dandy. I purchase an extra paper tray, unpack it, and set my 2500n on top of it. Now it keeps defaulting to the extra paper tray no matter what tray I specify in my apps, AND no matter what app I use (IE, Word, Notepad). The only way it will print to Tray2 is by pulling out Tray3! I've tried reinstalling the printer, then going into device settings and selecting 'installed' for tray3. But still nothing. I know the default is always tray 1,3,2. But I would think this gets overriden by the print job. Does this sound normal? Or should I be requesting an RMA? many thanks in advance!

Preferred Solution: I add xtra paper tray (tray3), now I can't print to tray2 unless I pull out tray3!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: I add xtra paper tray (tray3), now I can't print to tray2 unless I pull out tray3!

It sounds like normal hp printer operation to me. If one of the trays has a different paper size installed then it should switch automatically between the trays.

Hey guys, I've noticed that the sim tray can be pulled out with some pressure pulling outwards with my fingernails in the red part of the picture. It also ejects normally as is should when I use a paperclip. The tray isn't loose or falling out by itself, but it does feel a little easy to pull out the tray with just my fingernails. I was curious on whether it was something I needed to get fixed. Thanks.

I have had an HP 4L Laser Printer for a number of years and it has provided me with excellent service up until today.

The printer was working perfectly yesterday, but when I went to print a document today, the printer, instead of making the usual warmup noise, gave off a louder noise (almost like something was vibrating), as if something was jamming, and then for a second went quiet before it repeated the louder noise as it went to lift the paper (I could also hear the noise it is meant to make as it lifts the paper). The printer then stopped operating and the orange 'Paper' light started flashing.

When I opened the paper tray, the paper had barely been lifted out of the tray and the left hand corner of the paper, where the printer lifts it from the tray, is slightly crunched.

I have checked out the printer and there is no paper jammed.

It seems that there must be something wrong with the paper feed mechanism so I'm hoping for some advice on how to fix or adjust it.

I have a HP 500xi that I am disassembling to clean ink that has run all over the bottom of the metal printer base. I have taken the unit apart to the paper feed/tray assembly which needs to be removed to clean underneath. It is not obvious to me how to remove this assembly. If anyone can help with some instructions I would appreciate it very much.

I have a year old HP computer with Windows XP. I have a Lexmark Printer Platinum Pro 905.
Lately, when I go to print, and then click on "Properties" and select "Tray 2" for paper, my printer still uses Tray 1 for paper selection.
Any ideas?

A:Problem with LexMark Printer Paper Tray Selection

That usually happens when no paper is detected in the tray you selected, the printer will then automatically switch to the tray where paper is detected.

If you are sure there is paper in 'Tray 2', make sure it's loaded properly.

Hi,

I'm trying to print a Word 2010 document to a Xerox WorkCentre 5225. Whenever I go to printer properties of the Word menu, the default paper source is always 'recycled'. So instead of using Tray 1, it is using the tray with recycled paper. If I choose the correct option, it works. The problem is that it's quite annoying having to select each and every time the right one.

How can this be solved?

The last time it printed was at 9:38 PM yesterday. I have used system restore to backdate to 4 days ago and still can't print. I have stopped and started the print spooler, no help.

Hello:I am running Windows 2000 pro, with all service packs installed, including the final service pack that was issued in place of the service pack 5 that was canceled. The problem is fairly easy to describe:- I open WordPad, type a single space, then use the File pull-down menu to print a blank piece of paper.- The Print dialog box, pages entry has 1-65535 in it. If I go ahead and click on the Print button, I would need more than 13 cases of paper for the job to complete! This is a new phenomenon, as I have used this technique for quite some time to ensure proper connection to the printer and that other programs will be likely to print correctly and never have had the printer spit-out more than one sheet of paper.I can highlight the "1-65535" value and delete it, which will allow me to print the one blank page I want, but I shouldn't have to do that extra step (and the print dialogue box should not show anything in the "pages" box). I would like to know if perhaps something in the configuration files for WordPad causes this to happen and, if so, what it is, where it is, and how can I change it to get things back to normal.I did run Avast!, Spybot, SuperAntoSpyware, and the free Trend Micro scan to see if there might be some malware that contributes to the problem. Nothing was found.Since I run Win2K on of my other computers, I thought a simple approach would be to locate WordPad and its associated files on one of the other computers and simply ... Read more

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. I have also been successfully using an HP Photosmart B209a "all in one" printer with a wireless connection. I began getting low ink messages, so installed new HP cartridges. When I try to align the new cartridges, I get a message that says the alignment failed, but I can still use the printer. However, when I try to print any document I have generated on my computer, the printer picks up the paper and goes through the machinations of printing, but when it spits out the paper, it is blank. When I print a test page, it works. When I print a page from a website, it works. It will copy a document. It simply won't print anything I generate using my word processor or spreadsheet (I use Microsoft Works).

HP's Monitor program says that the computer is ready.

I have used HP Solutions Center, but nothing it suggests has made any difference. I have checked my wireless connection and it is working, obviously, or the printer wouldn't be getting the message to print, as it surely is, since it starts, picks up the paper and goes through the whole process of printing. However, nothing comes out except a blank piece of paper.

Hope you can help.

I have a HP photo smart B110 series printer, and recently when I send a print job to it that has multiple pages and is quite detailed it always gives a paper jam error.
It occurs when printing PDF files, long word documents... basically anything that has a lot of info. As it is going slowly through once the first page is about 2/3rd printed the Jam error occurs. The next sheet has not moved at all so clearly isn't causing an issue.
If I set the quality to Fast Draft it prints with no problem, but obviously it isn't as good a copy.

Can any one shed any light on this issue please?

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!

I preparing a display that requires printing very light ink on black paper. I have tried white, although a lack of ink makes sense on white paper, yellow and light orange. Looking very closely at the finished sheet I do not see any evidence of any ink being deposited. However, I can see evidence of black being deposited. The printer is a HP PhotoSmart Premium C310a. Incidentally, my Hp series D2600 acts the same way. Both printers print all colors when white paper is used. Any ideas?

A:Trying to print light fonts on black paper

To get even a light gray text you would have to use black ink on white paper. The "color" white is actually the complete absence of any color at all, so most consumer printers have to turn of all the color cartridges and rely on the paper to produce the "white".

You could buy a printer that uses actual white ink, but I bet they're expensive!

But at $276.99 for just the cartridge you might want to consider a white crayon...:-)

I arrived on site to a client who was trying to print a letter-sized word document 2010 to their network Xerox printer.

When the client hit print, the job failed saying tray 1 was empty and tray 4 was empty.  Tray 1 is 11x7 and tray 4 is never in use. The printer's settings are to use tray 2,3,1,4. I checked to make sure trays 2 and 3 had paper and they did.
I checked the printer properties>ports and the ip address was Xs. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. I also rebooted it too since the client had a power surge earlier that week and a separate printer of the client had been failing until it was rebooted.
When I tried to print the document again, it failed again trying to send it to the wrong trays.
I checked to see what trays were selected in the document and it was set to auto.
I set them to tray 2 (the primary) and it still failed for same reasons.
I tried a random word document on the client's desktop and it printed properly from tray 2.
I tried printing the word doc to another network printer and it failed that job too stating wrong trays for that printer.
This is when the client told me that this word 2010 doc had originally been a pdf. He had needed to edit a pdf so he opened it in word, made his edits and this is the word doc he wanted to print.
I saved the word doc back to being a pdf and it printed correctly from tray 2!
Luckily, the client was fine with it returning to a pdf and as long as it printed it was fine.

Reading up on it, I found that this printer has an auto-duplex feature, which lead me to the question:

How damp is the paper going to be after printing duplex, especially if I print with 50% - 100% coverage?

My initial conjecture is that it wouldn't be wet or curled, as it would be counterproductive to Epson's image to provide a printer with an auto-duplex feature that would drench the paper.

After doing a little bit of research, it seems that it's largely going to depend on the ink itself. According to macworld.com, "pigment inks...are made up of tiny, encapsulated particles that sit on top of the paper, instead of being absorbed into a paper’s fibers, which is what happens with dyes." The article further goes on to state that pigment inks are primarily for the purpose of longevity. Well, I'm not particularly concerned about it's longevity but I am interested in whether it's ability to dry faster than dye ink is justifiable for an investment in pigment inks?

A little more research revealed that paper quality is also a major factor (duh). Only issue is, I've already purchased a bunch of cheap 20 lb, 96 bright white paper and don't want to purchase paper separately for this additional printer (when I mean "bunch", I mean that I possess cases of paper in the double digits). Another reason I'm hesitant to make any move towards better paper is that it seems that the higher quality paper is designed to ... Read more

I have a REALLY bad paper jam... My printer is MF4350d. The paper jam troubleshooting outlined in the manual did not help. When I opened up the toner area and the back end of the printer, I can't see see the paper at all. It looks like the paper is jammed in area that I don't know how to access to (if I can, aside from taking the whole printer apart).

Does anyone know any way to fix this problem? :/ The paper that got stuck was a label paper. I know for sure it is stuck because the paper did not come out at all. The WHOLE paper got stuck. The label paper half half label peeled off. I am assuming that the reason it might have curled up in the printer is due to the disappearance of that half label? :/

The label paper is a regular size paper with 2 labels divided evenly on the paper.

Is taking the printer apart the only way? (is that even safe/good to do on my own part?)

Please help thank you very much.

Not sure which sub-forum to post this; apologies.

I want to print this image, 1:1 precisely: http://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-conten...hone-scale.pdf

In Europe we use the A4 image size; and I guess the original was formatted to US paper size (different). I am not a printing expert; do I need any sizing or adjustments?

To add insult to injury I even do not own a printer; I have to bring this thing to a print shop and possibly instruct them accordingly. By the law of large numbers, the print shop will likely use Windows; the 7th.

A:How to print image from US paper size to A4 size 1:1, precisely?

The print shop should have no problem adjusting the print size on there equipment.
The adjustment are not made with Windows 7 they are made with the printer program that came with the printers they use.

I'm running Windows XP with all updates. For the last 100 years or so, I have very carefully loaded used paper (printed on one side only) in the back tray of my printers. I'll use clean new paper from the front cassette only for my more important jobs. Saves a tree and a few bucks. My brand new Canon Pixma MX860 allows me to select Rear Tray when I go to print, but if I have chosen Plain Paper and 8.5x11, it overrides and sends to the front cassette. (I'm trying not to grumble too much - my old MX780 had a nice little button on the printer that would simply switch trays. No such button on the MX860, an otherwise great printer.) Can anyone figure out a workaround so I can continue to recycle good used paper? And yes, I know, no one in their right mind except me would send used paper through my printer, and it's not recommended, and yes, I did once ruin a printer this way, but I've grown very careful, and it works for me. So ... any help?

A:Solved: Canon Pixma MX860 won't print 8.5x11 from back tray

Figured it out myself. Simple solution: set Paper Source default to Continuous Autofeed, and then when you want to print recycled from the back tray just pull the front cassette drawer out a bit. The MX860 thinks you are out of paper in front and sends the job to the back. Presto, recycled 8.5x11 plain paper from the back tray. Only drawback - you have to override the default when you go to print a photo or something in the back tray (which I don't do that often anyway).

Recently I updated my Nomad Zen Xtra's software and driver, at the begining it worked fine, syncing my device was way much easyer and efficient, but a few day ago, I noticed that my computer was no longer detecting my device when I pluged it, I was not even able to acces from "My Computer" because the "Zen Xtra´s folder" was no longer there, normaly I decided to uninstall everything I install everuthing again but that seemed to be useless bescause my computer continues in failing to detect my Nomad and anything that I update, reinstall and install does not seem to work.
As for window everytime I plug in my Nomad a window titled "MTP Media Player" pops up and asks me if want to sync my device through windows media player, but when I choose to do so WMP is no able to detect my nomad, this is totally poinless exept for the fact wich tells me that windows is in fact detecting my device but for some reason unable to use it through any program.

Thanks in advanced I really hope someone can help me bring back from the dead my Nomad Zen Xtra
