Preferred Solution: microsoft visual c++ setup failed access denied

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Since it's a cracked version of Sim's the possibilities are endless. Plus this site does not support this type of software/program.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

You have two anti-virus programs running, which will cause trouble. Uninstall one of them. Restart the machine and post a new HJT log.

Download this tool to your desktop:
http://www.uploads.ejvindh.net/rootchk.exe
Run the program. After a short time a logfile will turn up. Copy the contents of the log into the thread.

Notice: Some security-programs prevent the creation of dummy drivers with certain names. This may cause false positives. If the log of rootchk contains a lot of hidden drivers, you may want to turn of your security programs while rootchk is scanning (you should then unhook your network connection as well)

I have a C++ project I've been working on on Visual Studio 2017 with a .cpp file downloaded from my class site and moved to the project's source files. Every time I try building the project, it gives me an error like this:
"LNK1104-cannot open 'file path to project .exe file'"
I go to the file and try running it from there, and even deleting it, but it says that it cannot be accessed and that I may not have to appropriate permissions to access it. I only had one account on my laptop when this started and I don't know why it won't
let me see my files. I've tried rebuilding the project and running it on another computer and it works fine. I've tried going into the files' properties to change the permissions but it wont let me. I've even tried going into my secret Administrator account
activated through DOS and running it from that account. I've also tried disabling any antivirus programs and re downloading the file, but also nothing. I'm about to pull my hair out because I'm gonna need to be able to use files like this with any future projects
for class on my laptop but whatever I do I can't seem to find the problem and fix it. I would be forever grateful if someone could help me out here.

A:Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Assertion Failed

The author of this code (was it you?) committed a coding "sin" here. The purpose of 'assert' to check logical assumptions, not to deal with error returns. Calling a routine from an external library and asserting that it returns success is just a bad thing to do -- as you can see here. The program should have caught the error and retrieved the error code (along with any other available information) and displayed it so that you'd stand some chance of figuring out what went wrong.

In any case, you should be about to Google OCIEnvCreate to get some ideas about why this method might fail; you might even find some info in the Oracle documentation.

A:xp denied access to setup.exe

It maybe that Quickbooks was not designed to go onto XP. The specific error message your getting would be helpful. Anyway a possible work around it to 'right click' and select properties on the setup.exe. Then go to the 'compatibilty tab' and select 'run as' a different OS..i.e. 2k. I have had limited success with this but its worth a try.

Alright, before you point me to some Autodesk troubleshooting site, please hear me out - this isn't the run of the mill problem.

I'm trying to install Autodesk 3Ds Max 2015 on my computer. I have everything in order, but as soon as it starts to install, I get about 3 minutes of a loading bar before this happens:

Naturally, I looked in the log to see what went wrong and found this:

"Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603"

I looked that up and apparently I'm not the only one with this issue. However, the one fix for it (or at least, the one fix that I understood) involved uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x86) from my computer, rebooting, then redoing the installation.

Sounds pretty clear-cut to me, it's just that there's one problem...

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable is apparently not even on my PC. Even though I literally installed it from the Microsoft website about 10 minutes ago, just to be sure, it won't show up!

So, I can't remove it, because I can't even bloody well find it. I've installed it around 3 times now, every time the installer for C++ 2005 gets to about 70% and then closes without so much as an error noise so I don't even know if it's working or not.

Somebody, please help! The official troubleshooting guides are useless to me and most of the alternate solutions involve all this complicated nonsen... Read more

I'm using Belkins Easy Transfer Cable to move files & settings from WinXP-SP2 to Vista Home Premium. The Windows Easy Transfer Companion for programs seemed to work OK. The Easy Transfer for data appears to work OK up to about 95% finished. A message pops up (on the 'old' computer) saying, "Migration failed: Access is denied". On the screen of the 'old' computer is what I assume to be the last file attempted. One try showed: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell no roam\bags\999\shell Another attempt stopped at: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\RAS Phonebook. I can go into the registry and observe the contents of each and highlight any of the keys without any 'denial'. Neither of these locations exist in the 'new' computer. The file shown on the screen of the 'new' computer is not the same as the one shown on the 'old' computer. So I assume it is the last one saved and the 'new' computer appears to be waiting for more data. It appears that the transfer up to the point of failure is OK. For example, I can open Quicken in the 'new' computer and the transactions and $$ seem to be all there. I've done some extensive googling and have found only one instance of this same thing. The only posted 'solution' was to change a setting on the 'new' computer (?) which I tried, but it didn't make any difference.

A:RegCreateKeyEx failed code 5. Access is denied.

This sounds like corruption of the hive - you *may* be able to correct some of it, but there's almost inevitably going to be some that you either won't find, or can't fix.
As a result, I think your best option is going to be a repair install.

I have four partitions on my hard drive, viz., C, E, F and G. Partitions C and G are NTFS whereas E and F are FAT32.

I downloaded wxRuby Setup to the partition E. When I tried to execute the Setup, Windows 7 displayed an error: "Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied"

I tried to execute it as an administrator by right-clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator". It again displays the same error.

I brought the slider level of UAC to the lowest level to turn UAC off and restarted the PC, still I am getting the same error.

I have created Windows Temp folder in the partition E by changing the Environment Variables. I did this to avoid fragmentation on the partition that contains OS. I have even changed the path of the Windows page (swap) file. I right-clicked this Temp folder to check the rights. I changed the ownership and allowed all rights, still the problem is there.

I changed the Windows Temp folder location to Windows default and restarted the machine. I get the same error when I try to execute the Setup.

Here please note that I am logging in as an Administrator. It is not a Guest account.

How to get rid of this problem?

A:Setup execution fails with Access Denied error

Right click on it and choose properties, go to the sharing tab, it will probably say not shared, either click on the share button or the advanced sharing button, in the top space type everyone, click the permissions tab and select full control, click apply, apply again and OK. the partition should be shared now.

I've tried to create a backup of my computer files on an external hard drive three times but I get the same error message each time. Microsoft Security Essentials pops up and tells me that it caught a Trojan (Karagany.G) lurking in one of the shadow copy files. I'm the administrator, no other user accounts on this laptop, so I don't understand why I don't have access to all my files as the error says.
This is the directory that always pops up: file:\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy61\Users\cjlanc\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\55\63ca7fb7-144752c8 It's driving me insane. Some help please?

A:The Group Policy failed the logon. Access Denied

Here are instructions on how to fix it, or at least, how I fixed a computer at school once.

1. Logon to the machine with a machine administrator account (assuming this issue is with a domain account, if not logon to the machine using another account with administrative privilege).
2. Move the machine to a workgroup from domain. (If it was part of one workgroup then change it to another one or join a domain.) You could do this through Control Panel\System and Security\System and then Change Settings.
3. Restart the machine and logon with a machine administrator account.
4. Delete your user profile data (or move it a different location) completely from c:\users. "C" in my case is system directory but if you have a different one then use that one.
5. Join the machine back to domain account (or to workgroup that the machine was originally joined to), and restart the machine.
6. Logon with your domain account that you were having trouble with. Keep fingers crossed.
If all goes well, you should be logged on.

I am sorry in advance if this post is located in the wrong forum. I am quite young and am not sure where this post is supposed to go.
Anyway, as the title states, I am in need of assistance. Does Microsoft Visual Studio get access to a lot of files in your hard drive? And if so, is it safe?

Thank you in advance. :D

Hello Sir,
>> Thanks first for the help about the damaged flash. Its working fine at least.
>> Secondly, my windows media player still skips when playing music files stored on cd.
I guess I might start using non-microsoft software again.

1. I created a database in Ms Access (Office version XP) and wrote code in Visual Basic 6.0 to connect 2 d database
but it returned the following error
Unrecognized data format ("File name")
Also converted database to Access 2.0 and 7.0 mdb but didn't work. Can you pls help?

2. Secondly, I'll like to inquire about a common occurrence with some flash drives.
After copying (usually large) files and/or folders into some flash drives, and you check the states of the copied files or folders, sometimes
they seem to not copy well. I give some evidence here
a. If web pages, they appear empty when opened.
b. If executables, a dos window opens up and either complains of low memory or some silly stuff (also when opened)
What do u think might be the problem? How can it be rectified?

Thanks.

Hello, I was wondering if any of you might be able to help me.  Today I opened my laptop and saw a message that read:  Secure Boot   Image failed to verify with *ACCESS DENIED*  Press any key to continue.

I can enter BIOS w/F1 when I press the power key, but that seems to be the only place I can go, and most of the options are grayed out.  I pressed F11 on startup in an attempt to restore the system, but all I'm able to get is a stationary white cursor line in the upper left corner of a blank screen.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

(Background:  My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, and I was running Windows 8 until the free Windows 10 upgrade came out a few months ago.  I haven't installed anything in a while except Windows and Lenovo updates.  I've had a bit of a heating issue, so eight days ago I replaced the thermal paste.  The machine's been running much cooler, but I've been experiencing random hibernations--usually once every 3 hrs. or so, but occasionally two in 15 min.  A few of those times, I had a message that said something about my battery not being detected, and this happened both when the computer was plugged in and when it wasn't.  It still charged like normal.)

A:Help! Secure Boot Image failed to verify with *ACCESS DENIED*

Have you tried disabling SecureBoot in your UEFI/BIOS? You are currently running Windows 10? I would disable fast startup as shown here if you get the computer to boot by disabling it. This will at least let you recover your files with a linux disk in case the computer fails to boot.

I am not sure why you are getting random hibernations. You can change your power profile it disable hibernation.

3 computers, desktop running Ultimate and backing up to AC-powered external drive and 2 laptops running Professional and back up to USB-powered external drives.. Backups set for full data and included system image for all 3..

No problem with desktop (which backs up daily), but unable to successfully back up either laptop since Windows Update installed SP-1. Fails as below:

Error: 0x80070005 - Access denied

Both laptops were set to run backups once a week (since the external drives are not plugged in at all times).. and, never had a problem with the backups failing before..

No changes were made before or after SP-1, checked permissions, all set to Full Control, log in as Administrator with UAC off (only one using the computers).. Ran chkdsk on both laptops and both external drives and no problems found.. Ran sfc /scannow and also clean for both..

Tried disabling all non-Microsoft services except for anti-virus and bluetooth (mouse is bluetooth) on one laptop and backup still failed with the same error.. Seems to get to approx 97% - 99% before it fails..

Have found older posts referecing making sure the D: drive is not set for backup or system restore.. Have never used it, backups have always been to the external drives (L: on one laptop and H: on the other).

Other than a problem with the fingerprint reader on 1 laptop after the SP-1 update (had to go back and install the original HP driver), SP-1 seems to be fine and do not really want to un-install.. Not sure if I even... Read more

I have a z580 and as of 4 days ago I get the above message when I start it.  If I press OK then it boots correctly and seem to work OK but the message scares me.  How can I sort out whatever is causing the message? 1. I tried system restore but it failed for each of the last 3 restore points. 2.I have a disk image from last week, but restoring the image did not change anything.3. I tried to get into the BIOS but it can't be accessed.  I can get a menu with options but when I choose one the same message appears and if I press OK the computer boots normally.4. I tried restoring the disk image to a spare HDD and it booted without the message.  So there is something on the HDD that is causing the problem.  It is a Seagate Momentus Hybrid if that makes a difference. Anybody know how I can solve this and regain access to the BIOS?

A:secure boot: Image failed to verify with access denied

If you search the error message there are quite so many experiencing it. One link (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-system/image-failed-to-verify-with-access... indicated that the only way is to use, in your case, the NOVO button and run OKR system restore to factory default. If you plan to follow this do a backup of your data first.

Now what?
Tried system restore, again. At least once a week now.
The real question is WHY!!!??? Why at all? Why all the time. Vista has been the MOST frustrating operating system we have owned. Almost 20 years with computers, and I can't believe I keep buying Microsoft. OMFG....
At least once a week we have issues. Compatibility, profiles deleted, uploaded files just gone for no reason, login failed. Our frustration has finally peaked.
How do we get this POS working again?

Good Evening,

I have an issue that I hope someone in the land of Experts will be able to help me with. I have searched Expert’s Exchange as well as Google and I seem to have a bit of a unique situation.

Yesterday, I began an upgrade of a Windows SP2 computer to SP3. The install appeared to be going well, but after about 75% completion, I received a generic Access Denied message. The computer began to rollback the installation. When the rollback was completed, I allowed the computer to reboot. Upon logging back into the computer with my Domain Admin account, I received the following message:

“Windows cannot load the profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Profile will be erased at logout.”

When began to move around the computer, I found that I couldn’t really do anything. I was not able to create any new files or modify existing ones. My first reaction was that the drive permissions were messed up. I ran secedit:

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose

Result: “Unable to read from or write to the database.”

I was able to open the secsetup.inf in Notepad. I figured the problem as in the creation of the secsetup.sdb file. I then modified the command to point to a network drive (which I could write to):

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db Z:\secsetup.sdb /verbose

Result: Same as before - “Unable to read from or write to the database.”
I then attempted to run System Restore. I found that ... Read more

I have an acer laptop which came pre installed with windows vista basic so I have no disc... It is a home computer so the only logon we use is the profile named 'aver valued customer' which doesn't require a password.

I can get as far as this icon but everytime I click it I get the above message. I have tried running in safe mode and have also tried system restore but keep getting back to this initial logon screen which doesn't work.

Can anyone please help??

Hi DarkAngel_
Without knowing what problem you fixed (maybe you can explain that), check something real quick.
Navigate to the encrypted files, right click one and select properties.
On the general tab, click the advanced button. With encryption enabled, the "Details" button should be available. If it is, click it. Do you see your user name in the list?

A computer was handed to me to fix. Well it's a Windows 7 laptop. I'm not actually by it right now so I can not tell you the manufacturer at the moment; but I'll try to explain everything I can.
I usually am very good with this stuff but the thing is, I've only came across an error like once before and I had to wipe the hard drive clean and re install everything. However my friend, she doesn't want me to do that. So. I have to try to save it all.

I've tried a lot I guess. It won't boot in safe mode, obviously, and it won't log at all, obviously. There's no second account. So now you know this. I'll continue on with what I've done.
I've done a couple things, actually. Before I tell you what I've done. I just so happened to be able to get in once. It logged in and said desktop could not be found and all that jazz. I was able to run SuperAntiSpyware and it got tracking cookies and like probably 1 or 2 Trojans and I removed those. Then it restarted and locked out with the same error.
I booted up with Kasperky CD I made a while ago. Didn't help, not really surprised. I went to go do system restore multiple times and none of which worked. There's other things I tried but can't remember at the moment. Honestly. I'm lost on what to do right now. I have no idea how on earth I would fix this.

I can't tell you on the specs on the computer because I can't access it so I can't get them. Also I do not have a disc from Microsoft for windows 7 recovery. I just read that doing t... Read more
