I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

As of today, I can not send or receive mails when I access two of my e-mail accounts on outlook through my browser. The error message:

"Something went wrong and we haven't been able to send your message yet."

I'm using Windows 7 on my pc, but it doesn't work on my phone either. Neither firefox or chrome makes any difference. Cache is cleared, cookies were eaten, internet refreshed, inbox made slightly roomier. But still, whenever I press the send button, my mails go directly to drafts.

Both of the accounts are @hotmail.com

I am using outlook 2007 and it configured my yahoo mail account for me i just had to enter the id and password. it recieves e-mails... that's perfectly fine but it keeps on trying to send messages but is never been able to send even one.

this started recently, I changed my password on my server hoping to fix this issue, and in Outlook and iPhones and iPads. Every thing works fine except desktop. I have sent an email from outlook.com and it receives just fine. The send and receive box runs through al the checks with no errors.
I can send from a Gmail address but not my regular yahoo account. I have checked everything I can think of but to no avail.
I started getting asked for a password every time I sent out an email, checked remember and then OK and everything would continue, but now I just get email stuck in the outbox.

Hi, pls help......
I can now only receive e-mails in Outlook 2003, but cannot send. Error message reports that my Port 25 is blocked (error message: 0x8004109).
Checked the same account on an XP machine using the same POP3 and SMTP servers and router and no problem - can send & receive OK.
Did the same on another VISTA machine and e-mail works OK.
Added a different account to the non-operational VISPA PC and it reports the same error. Problem is definately isolated to my VISTA PC. (32-bit / Packard BELL).
The problem started about a month ago, and prior to that, all systems worked perfectly.
Unisntalled AVG10 completely.
Disabled Firewall. Uninstalled all Windows updates for last 2-months. Created inbound & outbound rule to open PORT 25 (using mmc.exe). No change e-mail still does not sned!

Port 25 does not show using the "netstat -an" command.

ISP reports all systems working correctly on their side.

Computer connected to a hub - router via ethernet cable!

Any suggestions before I take a hammer to the PC?

It used to be that when I did an intentional Send/Receive (as opposed to Outlook doing an automatic timed one) a window came up showing me progress. I think it defaulted to just showing the progress on the right-hand side of the status bar at the bottom, but if I used the menu option Tools -> Send/Receive -> Send/Receive Settings -> Show Progress, it would immediately show the progress of the last Send/Receive. It would also then always pop up that window for subsequent Send/Receives.

Now, however, nothing I can do will cause it to always show the Send/Receive window during intentional Send/Receives. It only shows it on the status bar.

Not sure what I have done that has changed things.

I'm on Windows XP, SP2, but I'm sure it was OK after the install of SP2.

Open Outlook and Click Tools from the top menu then click Send Receive/Send Receive Settings/Show Progress.

That will restore the Progress window.

I just installed WLM and ..... I can't believe it:
Is there no Send/Receive button like in Windows Mail and Outlook Express ?
I composed a test mail and Send puts it to Outbox as before. OK. But what is the trick in WLM to do Send/Reiceive ?

I have a generic PC in my lounge and an acer netbook upstairs in my office.
I have configured Outlook ( 2000 downstairs & 2003 on the acer) with two new e-mail accounts.

I have tested both accounts and no error messages appear.
When I hit the test an e-mail is sent and received on the generic PC.
When I hit the test on my acer it sends but there is no incoming.

When I send to the mail account from a remote location it only arrives at the generic PC

To cap it all, there is no evidence of any incoming mail on my kualo webmail account.
I have disabled all security on the acer with no effect and I am at a loss as to what to do next

No problem at home, but whenever I am away, I can receive but not send emails.  Every time I try to send, I get the message
Sending of the message failed.
The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.orange.fr for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.
What and how do I "correct" the settings?
By the way, same thing whether I use Thunderbird or LiveMail

I am running Windows 98SE, Outlook Express 5.50.4807.1700
I am able to send e-mails as borne out by my friend. I know of several e-mails which have been sent to me, but nothing, not even the usual junk stuff.
Could there be some setting which has decided to switch to another choice?!
I am getting my mail at yahoo via Outlook Express.

Yahoo mail via Outlook Express went to a paid service. In other words if you want to continue to get your Yahoo mail you have to pay them to forward it to your Outlook Express.

Have you set up this option with Yahoo and paid them, if not you will not get your mail.

The first problem is that there are about 537 e-mails which date from august 2007 to December 21, 2007 which I cannot delete. I get the same messages when I gighlight it and click delete, open it and try to delete, or try to drag ir from the inbox to deleted box. The message says" The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook". I've restarted Outlook several times, I've used the Inbox repair tool, (which indicated that it had repairs to make in the .pst file). No clue how to delete these e-mails.

If tried installing Outlook over itself but no joy. I'm using WEin XP Home and Office 2003.
The second problem is that I cannot get e-mail delivered. I can send out but cannot receive any. I called my local cable provider and he had me log in to e-mail through their website and low and behold there were all my e-mails in the inbox on the server but none are coming to me. The cable guy said that this is an outlook problem and not a cable problem. When I start up Outlook, I go into e-mail accounts and verify the passwords, I click test connections and they all say okay. When I log into the e-mail account through the cable website, there in the inbox are the test e-mails but they do not come to my computer. Why can I send out but not receive? Any suggestions?

I would delete the email account out of Outlook and recreate it again from scratch. Also make sure that if you are running a software firewall that the appropriate program rights have been given to your email client. Do you have important emails saved in your existing installation? If not, you can always completely delete your .pst file and let Outlook create a new one for you.

One more thing, who is the email provider (Comcast, AT&T, Charter, etc.)

Hello this is my first post. Me and my wife have separate user interfaces with XP and I had to run a system recovery starting fresh with all of my back ups on a separate drive. When I reinstalled my outlook 2003 I followed all of the pop-server info on both my and my wifes accounts and I am able to send/receive mail but my wife can only send but not receive.

Because of some problems with my CD drive a representative of my provider (orange.fr) instructed a system restore (last known good configuration). Unfortunately it didn't solve the original problem but even worse I cannot use Thunderbird anymore. The addressbook is okay but all my e-mails are gone and I cann't receive/send one.

Accounts are okay.

Any suggestions?

The title for this topic isn't quite correct.
I can send emails on all my email addresses. But as of March 25/2016 I haven't been able to receive emails on my main email address. Except for one email over and over again, but its send date is stuck at March 25/2016.
I can read the emails I'm not receiving, by going to my ISP website. However, as of yesterday I have re-directed those emails to come to me via another of my emails. Both come to my PC with Thunderbird.
The only email I am receiving on my main email address, is in itself neither spam or bogus. In fact it is, or at least it started out being sent from a credible and responsible source. They are a reputable online petition company, one that I have been signed up with for some years.
My thinking is that this is a fault or glitch in Thunderbird. I could uninstall that particular email address, then re-install it. But my concern is, would I lose all my other data and drafts and then not regain then after the re-install. Bit worrying.

I have a buddy who has a new dell laptop connected wirelessly to a linksys router. He can only receive mail when using send/receive. Outbound mail sends automatically. I have checked the send receive options and is set to automatically s/r every minute.

I am having a hard time with this,I had a windows error when I replaced some ram, it corrupted my Outlook ( don't ask why)...So I ran the Repair option from the disk. After that the send and send / receive buttons are missing. (send from email messages also). The Send receive button appears for a second when it loads and then dissapears.

I tried deleting the outcmd.dat and restarting outlook but it did not fix it.

I have a unique one! -
I cannot find my accounts on Outlook Express. As such I am not getting any eMail (since April 14th) and I am waiting on my eReturn confirmation!
I cannot even see the "Accounts" link on the "Tools" Drop Down Menu next to "View"
Please help if anyone experienced this before. How do I not only get my accounts link back, but how to restore my 32 email accounts that worked fine for years! I still have the eMail Inbox in OE, but the last one received was the 14th. When I click on Send/Receive it looks like it is checking and get approvals and all seems fine... but no eMail comes in!
By the way, I do see that there IS mail in my mail servers that have not been gathered by my Outlook Express!

I'm unable to receive mails in my Outlook, I've tried everything but nothing seems to work.

I also did try to find a solution on Tech Support and came across the same problem which someone else was facing but the solutions to that problem don't seem to be working.

I tried going on my webmail but the website does not seem to work. Do you think there is a problem with the webmail guys (Globat.com)?

Can you guys try to solve my problem as it's been 2 days and I'm unable to view any of my incoming mails, my outgoings are working perfectly ok. I'm slowly loosing a track of my work which is so important.

well it's hard to pinpoint if it was working and all of a sudden stopped? Did you install any new software...like firewalls? Have you checked with your ISP? Maybe they made changes to the server names, or Ports? I is easier to get help from your ISP first.

Hi Guys
We now use Office 2016 with Win10. Our incoming e-mails seem to be stuck at our ISP. I can see them when I go to WEB MAIL. But they are not arriving at Outlook on our computer.
I have gone through the e-mail set-up protocol with our ISP more than once - and everything appears to be correct. Is this a Microsoft issue?

Usually, it would not do so immediately, but rather on a schedule per your settings.
To get email upon startup, just click send/recv to get the first downloads for the day.

HI all

I've just got a new computer running Windows Vista Business. It came with Microsoft Office Small Business pre-installed. I thought that I'd set it Outlook correctly but I have a problem.

When I reply to e-mails they get to their recipient with no problem. When I manually enter an address in an outgoing mail, it gets stuck in the outbox and goes no further! Any help would be much appreciated.

Also while I'm here... If anyone can tell me how to transfer all the data in a Contacts file to the address book in Outlook I'd be grateful.

it sounds to me like you're entering the address wrong. If the reply works then your outgoing mail is configured correctly as you've already proved so I'd look again at exactly what you're entering?

What type of contacts "file" do you have? You should be able to do the following:

open outlook
click FILE
choose IMPORT FROM (and pick they type of file you have)
follow the wizard through

Please help me, I have right settings and everything is checked and written in the right way (I know because another person is using the same settings as me and sends messages without problems) but the Outlook 2007 simply won't send out my messages. This is the error:

If you would please take the SMTP-address and write that down, and try if you can get any connection whatsoever with it by sending test packages to it.

1. Go to Start > Search.
2. Type cmd > Hit ENTER.
3. Type:
"ping smtp.mail.com" > Hit ENTER.
(Replace "smtp.mail.com" with your SMTP address).

I use "Microsoft Office 7" and I use "Outlook 7" for my e-mail. Approximately a week ago; the e-mails that I was sending stopped sending and just land in my "Outbox". I didn't notice this at first; I do not receive an error message until I noticed the e-mails sitting in my outbox and attempted to send them from that location. Using both Outlook and Outlook Express on new HP a1310n system with Windows XP Home, Charter cable internet.

When we originally set up the system two weeks ago, everything was fine; but, just yesterday, we suddenly cannot send mail. Outlook and Outlook Express both indicate successful send and receive; but, no one is receiving our mail Also, when we send mail from ourselves to ourselves, we get a message thet the send was successful but, we do not receive the test mail. We have also checked the mail server through IE and the mail we are sending to ourselves doesn't make it to the server.

Out SMTP and POP settings are correct. I am a tech and I know well what Charter's in and out servers are.

We have uninstalled and deleted the folders for all antivirus, antiadware and antispyware and turned off all firewalls.

I've just started using Outlook 2010 instead of WLM 2010, because it is getting too slow and really bugging me.

I'm able to send/receive mail from a web account (from a website I administrate), my Gmail and ONE windows live account, but my main email (the second windows live account) just wont process.

Attached a screenshot of what happens.

Like I said, it's weird this is happening to just one of my Hotmail accounts, but it's so annoying to have to use two email clients, or one client and one browser.

This seems to be a very unreliable thing Outlook Connector does, but is there any way to fix it? I've tried repairing/re-installing Connector, repaired Office, re-added the account, and deleting the OST files. still no luck.

I'm on Win 7 Home Premium SP1 Running Office 2010 Pro.

Assuming you are using the 32-bit version of Office you also need to use the 32-bit version of Outlook Connector and vice versa.

How do you set up Outlook to automatically recieve when you click on it, like in Outlook Express?. Right now I have to open it up then hit the send / receive button.

In Outlook, Tools/Options/Mail Setup/Send Receive
Tick the box Send Immediately when connected.

If you click on the Send/Receive button in the same place, you can set the frequency of automatic send/receive as well.

May vary slightly according to the Outlook version, but we don't know what version you have. Above is for Outlook 2007.

When I use send/receive in Outlook, The box that appears says that "6 of 7 tasks have completed successfully".

This used to say "1 of 2 tasks etc" and I assumed the two were send and receive. The program then takes ages to actually download any incoming emails, and sometimes aborts the task. I tried reinstalling Office 2010, and for one or two "send/receive" episodes all was well, but then it reverted to "6 of 7"

I only have one email address registered on Outlook, and run Office Professional Plus 2010 with windows 10

I am a new user of Outlook.
I was adding my gmx.com accounts in Outlook with no problems, but I am not able to add gmx.fr accounts in outlook.

I've been having some trouble in M$ Outlook with being able to send and receive emails. Its a POP3 email account. I've checked and re-checked the account settings and they are correct. (As far as I can tell) When I "Test Account Settings," it confirms it can logon to the mail server but when it attempts to send the test e-mail message it fails. The error reads as follows:

I just had to reset my system's configuration jumper (CMOS) due to frequent computer crashes.

While that seems to have corrected my crashing woes, now my Outlook won't send or receive new email. I can load the Outlook program just fine, but when I try to download new email it just quickly goes from showing the total number of emails waiting in que to then scrolling downward to zero and registering an error message that reads:

I use Outlook for email. It has just started acting up by giving me an "Operation Failed" error message when I press the Send / Receive button. I have tried the "repair" tool with no luck. I have reset and checked the email accounts and there is no problem with sending test messages. I have checked all the settings and they appear to be fine. It is only on one of my computers that are networked through a router hooked up to the same incoming cable connection. I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have a fix for this maddening problem?

Check your firewall settings on the PC and if its on turn it off, your router has a firewall. Also you can try to use the IP address of the server instaed of the name. To get the IP just ping the server name, you will need to do both pop and smtp servers.

Example: if your server is pop6.sympatico

Click START, RUN type CMD
At the prompt type "ping pop6.sympatico.ca"

Look at the results the ip will be there, type this into the server name in your account properties.

I can receive but not send in Outlook. Also, this happens on only one computer on the network. The same email accounts (using outlook) works on other computers. There must be something that got mis-configured on this one computer somehow.

Finally, the issue occurs for 2 different email accounts on my computer.

I am new to the forum. I am trying to find an answer to my Outlook problem. This discussion sounded the same until I clicked on the link.

My problem is that Outlook will receive but not send.

The send seems to time out with this message;
Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Things tried;
1) I contacted Comcast and I re-created my account.
2) Performed the repair/install of MS Office from the control panel.
3) Removed unwanted applications.

The only change that took place was a recent install of PocketMirror. I wanted to sync to my Palm V to retrieve my contacts into Outlook. I have sent emails to Chapura, via thier web page, to get help but no replies yet. I plan to call them tomorrow during thier business hours 9-4 CMT.

I searched as many forums as I could--sorry if this is a re-post.

Toshiba lap top running Vista and IE7, on a router, hi speed internet.

PROBLEM: When I open my Outlook at home {retrieve e-mails from work server}, all messages load, but I can only reply to messages. When I try to compose a new e-mail, Outlook closes completly and I lose the message. It also closes open IE7 windows.

I have run Ad-Aware and SpyBot, and disabled Windows Defender {no problems found} but the problem persists. I have Googled this, and have found TONS of people with the same problem, but no solutions. There is a Microsoft "update solution" notice, but its written in computer speek. {I'm pretty new at this, but I can follow directions to the letter :thumbsup: }

When I am trying to send mails through Outlook Express, I am getting a message saying
'Your SMTP server has not responded in 300secs. Would you like to wait for another 300seconds?'
What should I do to get this off? Help me...

From OE - Tools | accounts| mail | increase server timeout to long - break apart message (in case you have a huge message which could be causing timeout.

My Outlook was working perfectly so far. But From today morning I am not able to send mails. I am getting error message as following...

554 Transaction failed : Cannot send message due to possible abuse; please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/abuse_smtp.html for more information
Please help me to solve this. I have tries googling many sites. Everywhere they were explaining the error but no solution for it.

Hey Everybody

I've just installed Windows 98 SE (danish version) on my fathers computer and installed all updates from Microsoft's web page.
After setting up Outlook Express I found out, that I'm able to receive mails but not to send any.
When I try I get the following error message: "The message could not be send. Some of the receivers of the message are not valid. Correct the names. (I'm using the danish version of OE, so this is a translation.)
The e-mail address is correct and the e-mail account is setup correctly too.

So what is the problem? Can anyone help med?

By the way - I'm using version 6.00.2800.1106 of OE (after updating)

hi Friends,
I am having some problem in sending mails from MS outlook 2003. when ever i click on send button an error occur Microsoft office word : The operation Failed. An object not able to found. I have tried everything configuring mails, Re-installing Msoffice, Windows, registries repair installing service pack 3 etc.
I can receive messages, on other system same id is working fine in Outlook (send/receive) plz help
