I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Maybe someone using a Laptop could have a look for me. I`m using Windows XP Home edition(desktop) and in my attachment shows the "folders files and tasks" list. Of course when i click on a picture/s the list expands and shows in particular "email this file". On a Dell laptop is the wording of the task the same in the "folders files and tasks"?

A:Picture tasks-My pictures-Laptop

Yes the wording here is determined on the operating system installed and not whether it is a lap or desktop.

Hope this helps!!!

I'm trying to help my sister out. When she opens "My Pictures" in XP Home, she sees her Picture Tasks>Print Pictures option. When she opens another folder in "My Pictures" (they are stored in folders by date) she loses the option to "Print Pictures" under Picture Tasks even though picture files are present.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to what could be going wrong?

I have Windows XP SP2.
A couple of days ago I was changing the folder types (from Documents to Pictures) for numerous subfolders in the "My Pictures" folder.
Somehow this caused many of the other directories/folders (C:, Program Files, Windows, etc.) to start using the "Picture Tasks" panel ("View as a slide show", "Order prints online", "Print pictures") on the left side of the screen, instead of the default panel for that directory/folder.
Does someone know how to recover the default panels by a registry change? (I don't use System Restore)

My Power User Tasks Menu is not totally functional. Only the "Run" task launches. None of the other tasks work from this menu. I'm running an account set as administrator, and have tried the separate Administrator account to no avail.

I have an issue with one user where task can't be added to Outlook 2003 Tasks.
I was able to create a subfolder in it and I'm successful in adding tasks to that subfolder, but not in the main Tasks folder.

When ever I try adding a task, I get the following message:
"Please save the task order by clicking Save Task Order on the Actions menu in the "Tasks" folder. The view must not be filtered or grouped for Save Task Order to be available. Could not coplete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid"

I've gone through every possible setting. I went as far as uninstalling and reinstalling Office and recreating the users Outlook profile on the PC.

Any other suggestions?

Its been about a month or so ago that i had to reinstall XP with SP1. Later added up to SP3. Now for the first time, i needed to burn a file...but i do not see the typical notices that says ''do you want to burn these files now" or something to that effect...so i just tried to copy those files and at one time dragged them to my cd drive and all i get is a message that says "windows encountered a problem trying to copy this file. What do you want windows to do?" Huh? Try again, skip or cancel? I do have the ntldr when i did a search. I also used Send to" to no avail. Any clues?

I like to shut down all the tasks running in the back ground for better gaming performance. Well i used to run Windows ME and all you had to do was Ctrl Alt Del and end each task ecept explore ok. But now i got XP and there i usually nothing under tasks its all under process's but when i try to shut them down i crash my pc. How do you shut down all that stuff and is lower CPU usage better than Higher CPU usage??

A:Solved: Shutting down background tasks

When in doubt, just google the process that's running and you'll find an answer quickly of what it is, and how vital it is.

CPU usage should be as low as possible -- however, do not try to close the System Idle process (which takes up 99% CPU most of the time), as this is an essential process that doesn't actually take away from performance, it just keeps the CPU busy during non-peak usage.

You can also download programmes to set what starts when windows loads, which will save you time having to close them all down. Can't think of any off the top of my head, though.

Recently, I cannot add or delete any scheduled tasks. The "Add Scheduled Task" wizard is missing in the CONTROL PANEL - SCHEDULED TASKS
folder. I can change the properties of existing tasks, but cannot delete them: the DELETE menu item is grayed out.

I am logged in as administrator. I have previously entered scheduled tasks and all of them are running as scheduled. All the scheduled tasks are owned by administrator. The only changes in the schedule that I can make are from the Windows Backup program, which has its own schedule that automatically changes the Scheduled Tasks entries for backup.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is it possible to get tasks on left of screen like XP in vista. In my pictures in XP I could get get from scanner, slide show etc. Would like to have this in vista.

A:Solved: folder tasks in vista

In short, no

The task pane—which appeared on the side of the folder in previous versions of Windows—has been replaced by the new toolbar at the top of the folder. Many of the tasks that used to appear in the task pane now appear on the toolbar.Click to expand...
Slide show is on the tool bar. I don't have a scanner or camera, so don't know if that would appear there as well.
Print and Email will appear if you turn on the Preview Pane (Organize | Layout->)
If you turn on the Details pane, you can add tags to the currently selected photo and edit the Date Taken.

Hi! I've just recently built a rig for gaming. It's my first build and everything has gone perfectly until now.

Whenever I try to do certain things it completely freezes up. Can't move the cursor, open task manager, nothing. Dead. And it does not come back, I let it sit for 8 hours last night and nothing. It happens during (but not limited to) the following tasks:
- Downloading.
- Changing my screen resolution.
- Viewing certain sites (Tried to visit the Sapphire homepage).
- Moving some files from a USB to the hard drive.

The only thing I can think is that I have some old RAM in my PC right now that is currently just there until my Crucial Ballistic sticks come in. I removed two sticks (there's 4x2GB sticks) and I was immediately able to download Steam. Then I tried to download a game.. nada. Any ideas? Thank you guys!

Upon start/restart of infected computer, said computer would over-utilize CPU performance to the point that other software functions on the machine would not be able to reasonably initiate at startup.

In actuality, the malware was creating multiple IEXPLORE.exe instances running as background tasks. These instances were then creating randomly named .EXE (0 bytes) and .DLL (22K bytes) files. These files were located on the local HDD under the path C:\Documents and Settings\"Login Name"\Local Settings\Temp and had the filename prefix characteristics of "Tnnnnnnnn", where nnnnnnnn was a randomly generated number. These files were children of the background IEXPLORE.exe tasks and could not be deleted until the respective IEXPLORE.exe task was terminated from the Task Manager utility.

This malware had initially gone in and found all non-critical executable references in the machines HKLM and HKCU Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run registry keys. The malware then went into those directory locations for ALL executables found, created a .BAK subdirectory moved the real executables into the .BAK subdirectory and then replaced the original executables with a malware executable of the same name. In my case, this had happened about a dozen places. This malware can be determined by sudden loss of certain software-based functions on computer, in my case it was enhanced mous... Read more

This looked like a no-brainer... but I just can't get it going in WinXP Pro. I'm trying to schedule a task to start radio VCR software from Standby.

Here's what I've done:

* Created a scheduled task setting the radio VCR software to start at a specified date and time. I enter the password for my account that has administrator privileges, and clicked the box of "Wake the computer to run this task."

* Put the system into Standby

The system wakes up, but it gets stuck at the login window that wants a password to be entered. If I enter the password, the software pops up and does it's job. Here's the error message I get on the login screen:

Each time I set up XP, I run "CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2" and untick the setting for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."

Also when you "Right Click" a exe file or icon and you select "Run as Administrator", the Administrator account will be used for that program this one time.

Would any of you tell me what program you would use to take full-control over the services/programs you have running on Windows XP? There are complicated programs & services, which cause amatuer-administrators on Windows XP to get "Access Denied messages"whenever they try to disable services like RPC by using MSConfig.exe or Task Manager. Even when using the Component Services program (Dcomcnfg.exe), there are certain services, which do not allow you to stop, disable, or remove them from your Startup & Services-list.

I've already tried Autoruns, WinPatrol, and Task manager to kill programs & services, which continue to run without my permission. Online Amor is 1 of many programs like RPC, which does not allow end-users to disable or stop them from automatically, running.

So if any of you have any time, please name the program(s) you would use to have full-control of your Windows XP system so you can disable, unlock, and get rid of programs, files, & services, which become difficult to remove even if you have "admin privileges".

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

Watch YouTube? videos in the corner while browsing the site, just like in the mobile apps.
* Videos will continue to play in a picture-in-picture window when you navigate away from the page

* Start videos in a picture-in-picture window with the right click menu

This extension is a proof-of-concept and is still in beta, with a few known bugs. Playlists don't work correctly, and sometimes videos don't load right. If something goes wrong, opening a new video usually fixes things. If not, try opening a new tab.

I was wondering if there was a way I am able to bypass using the HP Picture in Picture software. The HDMI Inputs do not show up in the 'Sound' window through the Control Panel in either the Playback or Recording tabs. Thank you!- Bubbyfong

YouTube? Picture in Picture (Beta)

Users of this extension have also used
Watch YouTube? videos in the corner while browsing the site, just like in the mobile apps.
* Videos will continue to play in a picture-in-picture window when you navigate away from the page
* Re-open video page at any time without interruption
* Start videos in a picture-in-picture window with the right click menu

This extension is a proof-of-concept and is still in beta, with a few known bugs. Playlists don't work correctly, and sometimes videos don't load right. If something goes wrong, opening a new video usually fixes things. If not, try opening a new tab.

I have figured out how to download pictures from the Verizon Samsung Gusto. I saw pedroguy asked about this November 2010, but the thread died.

1) Download BitPim
2) Under "BitPim Settings", for Phone Type, choose "SCH-U750 (Alias 2)"

I don't know anything about BitPim, I just played with the settings until it worked.

It turns out that if I download a picture file to the photo app in 8.1, without putting it in a particular pre-existing folder, the file goes into the general area of the app displayed alongside several other non-related pictures. Okay, no problem. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to then move a single image file into one of the pre-existing folders I had created at an earlier time. If your suggestion is to open both the folder and the picture file side by side on the screen and then click and drag, I have no idea how to do that. Is there no way to right-click the image and find a way to select "move to", or something along those lines; or is there a pull-down menu that I can't find with the app open that contains a command to "move to"?
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,
San Francisco

A:How to move a picture file on 8.1 to a picture folder...

Well, you have many options. What you are looking for is this:

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums

But you can just copy the pics and paste them into the folder you like.

The side by side is easy too. Just open the source folder and press WIN + Right arrow. Then open the target folder and press WIN + left arrow, Now you can drag and drop from one folder to the other.
