Im using my phone to post this and every device i have can connect to wifi except for computer that i system restored

Preferred Solution: Cant connect to wifi after system restore

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Recently after downloading and running AdAware I have lost the service for print spooler and can no longer print from my laptop. I tried to do a system restore and got the message that system restore was not turned on and I am unable to get it to turn on. My computer is running very erratically and is unstable.

This is the message that I get when I try to print something:

Our home PC cannot communicate with the net. It is connected by a LAN cable to a Netgear MBR 1210. Our netbook however works fine wirelessly, using the MBR1210. While it seems like a virus, MSES turns up nothing. I will insert a HJ file below. Tried to restore PC to an earlier point, but restore is disabled/corrupted and no matter which restore point I choose, I get the message

I did get an email from a friend travelling in China a couple of days ago, which I would suspect, except that it arrived two days prior and things were fine yesterday. Is this something simple, or will I have download a specific tool to clean? Thanks.

I wiped my Samsung R540 laptop with Samsung Recovery Solution 4 which came with my laptop. On board WiFi was working fine before the restore, however now I can only connect using an Ethernet cable or a USB WiFi dongle. I used Driver Pack Solution to update all the drivers so I don't think tat is the cause (although I could be wrong). Also I cannot find the WiFi card under 'Network Adaptors' in the Device Manager.

So I've just installed Windows XP Proffesional on my old laptop. The thing is i cannot connect wirelessly to wifi. Through cable it works just fine.
Im 99% sure I installed proper drivers.
'Wireless Zero Configuration' is set:   startup type: automatic   Service status: Started
In 'network connections' tab it only shows 'Local Area Connection' and '1394 Connection 2'
No antivirus, only basic windows firewall
I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the card itself as on linux it worked just fine (for anyone wondering why I switched to XP it's that this PC couldn't handle linux very well and linux does not support most of the games)
I already tried resetting network adapters and their drivers
Card: HP Compaq 2210b Wireless WiFi Card 441082-003

A:Unable to wirelessly connect with wifi on new system

Before going online with wireless or ethernet, make sure all Windows Updates are installed.
You need an antivirus program installed.
1394 is a Firewire card, not a wireless network adapter.
You still need to set up a wireless network adapter.

Today I turned on my computer to be met with a blue screen which it says was a registry issue. After looking on forums I found out that people have previously done a startup repair to fix the problem. So, I did this and it asked to do a system restore. After starting up again it refuses to connect to the Internet. It also came up with a message saying that 'Event Log Service is Unavailable'.
I really don't want to wipe the computer and start again because I really like how I've set it up, plus I have managed to lose the disk with Windows 7 on it.
My computer has a wired Internet connection. Restarted the hub, still doesn't work.
Wondering if you could help me.
Thank You,

After changing my Unicode to Japanese(to run a VN) and restarted my computer it loaded up a repair screen. It ran the repair and windows started up normally again. Once in windows I noticed my internet no longer was recognized, all my anti-virus software stated my computer was unprotected. I switched back to English Unicode but the problems continued. I tried reinstalling my drivers but that did nothing.

I fear that I downloading a virus somewhere and that repair screen actually had something to do with the virus. I have run malwarebytes, superantispyware, and MSE none have returned a virus using the quick scans. I will probably run a full scan over night. I have run out of ideas and have come to you guys for help. I saw that the instructions listed ark.txt for 32bit but my computer is a 64bit, do I need to include the ark.txt file?

I tried system restore but I was getting error 0x80042302. I think the virus is preventing me from restoring or even changing several things in Windows 7.

A:cant connect to internet after system restore please help!!

Your Default Gateway is not showing up in your IP Config file. Your Default Gateway is your Router. It should be listed as the same as the DHCP and DNS server. Unplug the power plug to the Modem and the Router. Plug the power into just the Modem (unless you have a modem/router combo) When all the lights come up, plug in the power to the Router (unless combo of course)
Now Go to Start/Run and type inetcpl.cpl and press enter/Connections/LAN Settings. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked. Now go to Start/Run and type ncpa.cpl and press enter. Right click the Local Area connection/Properties scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP-IP)/Properties. Make sure Obtain an IP Address and DNS Server Address Automatically are both checked. Now go to Start/Run and type CMD and press enter. IN the Command Prompt type ipconfig /release and press enter. the IP Address changes to Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew. Now type ipconfig /all. You should have a new IP address try it again. If you still cannot connect please include the text output of your ipconfig /all in your next post

So. This is a weird one. Today I started getting a strange error message pop up that stated "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." It seems to pop up at random. First couple times, I ignored it. When it persisted, I googled it, only to find most people with this error are having issues with links in outlook. I do not use outlook or IE, and wasn't doing anything browser related during any of the errors, so, lazily, I ignored it again. Finally, when one of these errors kicked me out of my Portal game, I decided I had to do something about it. I decided to just system restore before I went through any huge hassle before I tried figuring anything major out.

System restore went swimmingly, didn't seem to have any issues. But.. My keyboard and mouse, both wireless and usb, weren't working upon reboot. Okay. Different port. Nope. All of them are dead. All. Even the motherboard ones in the back. NO usb device I plug in works, or even registers. To make it weirder, I see that my wireless isn't connecting (the internet is fine) and my sound is muted. Sound was on when I started system restore. It's like all input into my machine is no longer accepted. I know the CD drive works, because inserting a CD even brought up the autoplay window, even though I can't actually input anything.

I haven't messed with it too much, as I'm very tired and annoyed, but if anyone has some clues, please tun... Read more

- going into Safe Mode (rapidly tap the F8 key just before the Windows splash screen shows up.
- going into Startup Repair and using System Restore from there.

I have an HP 735n Desk PC running Win XP Home with SP 2. It reached a point of only starting under "Safe Start" so out of final desperation, I used (F10) System Recovery. The computer is starting AOK now and I have recaptured a lot of data by uninstall/install of programs where I'm told "Your Data Has Not Been Affected". However, when I reached the point of needing to reconnect to the internet VIA a wireless home LAN utilizing a D-Link DIR-615 (ver 3.21) Router with (1) computer connected thru a USB Adapter WUA-2340 (all working fine) I reinstalled a USB Adapter DWA-125 (ver A1) {Which had been working OK} and I get message "No Internet Connection Available" altho' all other indicators are "GO" The Device is working properly and net work indicators are all showing the D-Link USB Adapters on both my Compaq (with Win 7) and the HP (with XP) are working. I have worked on computers for years and never needed to do a System Recovery before and I have NEVER had any trouble getting on a network nor the internet before. After 3 full days of hair pulling frustration, all I can truthfully say is, "'I Want My Mommy!"" At least she would say, "Well bless your little heart" Can anyone out there do more??? REMEMBER, the HP W/XP CANNOT BE USED TO DOWN LOAD. It won't go on line! I can use my Compaq if we can make CD's, DVD's, or Flash Drive copies of anything needed for transport to the HP. HELP!!

About 3 weeks ago, I was using a public WIFI connection. *something* went wrong, my computer froze up, and ever since, my system icons have been disabled and I can only connect to my home WIFI connection - by going to the control panel and manually connecting. Since I no longer have my connectivity icon, I can not view the available networks, and therefore cannot select one to connect to. Only my home WIFI connection works.
This is bad, since I will be moving soon and leaving my home network. I have tried every tutorial I have found.....my last resort would be reinstalling the OS...but I'm not even sure that would work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Any ideas?

A:Can only connect to home WIFI, possibly due to no system icon access?

Do you have more information on this *something* that went wrong? Could it have been a virus? What antivirus do you have? Is it, and windows update ... all up to date?

Have you tried going into network and sharing center and using it to find another network (should be something there that says connect to a network). You might try first downloading the wireless adapter driver from its correct website and saving it to your computer, removing your current one, and then installing the newer one you just downloaded. You will have to reenter the network password (if you have one, and you should) for your home network, but hopefully this will solve the problem.

Let me know what wireless adapter you have and I can look for the correct download for you

Pllease help...is this free or there is a cost? Let me know..

A:multiple problem..please help!!! cant connect to internet , cant do system restore

The 0X80042302 error may be caused by windows system files damage. The corrupted system files entries can be a real threat to the well being of your computer.
There can be many events which may have resulted in the system files errors. An incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovered from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer. All the above actives may result in the deletion or corruption of the entries in the windows system files. This corrupted system file will lead to the missing and wrongly linked information and files needed for the proper working of the application.

Novice Computer User Solution (completely automated):
1) Download (0X80042302) repair utility.
2) Install program and click Scan button.
3) Click the Fix Errors button when scan is completed.
4) Restart your computer.

I am currently unable to connect my desktop to the internet, and using the troubleshooter tells me that the issue is the deactivation of the Diagnostics Policy Service, but it is unable to fix it. I found this thread from several years ago, where OP's issues seem pretty much parallel to my own:

[SOLVED] Diagnostics policy service wont start

I tried every one of the possible remedies given in the linked thread, but none of them worked. To review:
I tried starting the Diagnostics Policy Service via the services.msc menu, but it returned an 'error 5' telling em I lacked permission.
I tried a system restore to an old update point, but it failed, and the error message told me it may be due to my antivirus. I uninstalled both Malwarebytes and Bitdefender and tried again, twice, once from safe mode, but it still failed both times with the same error message.
I tried uninstalling all my ethernet control software from the devices menu, then undoing it via the "check for hardware changes" command, but it had no effect, even after a restart.
I tried the method given in the microsoft forums, where I use the regedit tool to manually change the permissions of my account and allow it edit access to the DPS programs, but even after restarting and going back to make sure I still had the permissions, it had no effect.
Finally, I tried using the cmd menu and using these commands:

I had to do a system restore last night and haven't been able to connect to Internet since then. I've done all of the unplugging, swapping and rebooting that my Internet provider suggested. The HP rep said it's a provider issue. The wireless I have hooked up to it for my phone is working, just not able to connect on my desktop. I don't need/want wireless at this point so I just need my desktop to connect.

I've looked at other threads and I'm just not sure what to do.
I've run the ipconfig through cmd.exe and that is as far as my knowldge goes.

To start with, I'm running XP and Firefox is my primary browser. I had Adaware installed to deal with malware, however it never found anything and the infection first appeared while I was browsing a site I know is clean, so I suspect it was lying dormant on my system for awhile. I also have CCleaner. Both Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware were downloaded in the process of trying to cleanse my system. Adaware and Malwarebytes are both deleted now, because I was told not to have more than one antimalware program at one time.

On to the problem. It happened very suddenly. I opened a page in a new tab, and suddenly all the links went red. A message popped up from the system tray. I can't remember the exact wording, sadly, but it went something like "Your computer is infected! Download antispyware now" and I believe it claimed to be from Windows security, though the icon was a red circle with a white x rather than the usual shield shape. There was also a red link at the top of every page I navigated to saying something similar "Too many errors were detected on your computer. Get antivirus now!" or something to that effect.

I ran first Malwarebytes and it found and cleared several problems. The pop up from the tray stopped and the false link was gone, however, my computer was now crashing every few minutes. I then ran SuperAntiSpyware and it also found and cleared a few problems, however, now my computer couldn't connect to the internet at ... Read more

A:cannot connect to internet, add/remove programs or system restore

Sounds to me like a few things happened here:
1. You were infected with a rogue(fake) Anti-Malware program with a possible Trojan Downloader which keeps reinfecting your computer.
2. During the cleaning process you may have accidentally removed something which allows your ability to connect to the net, but I cannot be sure.

Do you still have your logs from the MBAM and SAS scans? If so please post the latest ones from each.

I'm not sure what techinal mumbo jumbo info you need, but I do know that you at least need that I have windows XP Service pack 3

The system restore is simple. I start it up, it runs, I log back in, and then I get a message without any error codes that it could not be compleated, and that no changes were made. When checking what is affected (since, when attempting a system restore, I get a message that says "Changes made to drive(s) E: after this point cannot be reversed because the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off or removed"

In any of the lists I find, it seems system restore only affects C: anyways.

I have a feeling that if I turn the restore points off then on, therefore reseting them, or create custome restore points, it would be fine, but I also have a feeling that a good system restore would fix my other, more complex problem. And if I can do a system restore in the end and fix this, I need those old restore points.

I believe my PC has a virus or some sort of malware on it.
I recently recieved a large amount of threats which i thought BitDefender had delt with but now i have the following problems.
- my computer fails to detect any wireless networks (i know they are there)
- I have tried to use system restore but i get a error msg after reboot which says 'Cannot restore. No changes have been made to your system'

I have used BitDefender, AVG and Spybot Search & Destroy to scan for viruses but they fail to find any problems

My PC is running Microsoft Windows xp home edition version 2002 with service pack 3.

I recently restored the whole system on my sister's HP because of a virus that I was unable to remove manually.
The system restore went fine until it reached the point where it was going to reinstall Windows. The computer just turned itself off and the software install was not complete. Nor am I able to reinstall it again. Therefore I have to hold down ctrl+alt+del, go to task manager, click on audit.exe and end the process to turn the computer on. But I can't do anything with it in safemode. The main problem is: I can't connect to the internet! It won't find my wireless network even though Network Discovery is on. What can I do about the internet? And is there any way to install Windows again without a CD?
Thanks in advance!

A:Unable to connect to the internet after system restore and Windows install

whats the model of the HP by tapping F10 or F11 as it boots you may get into the recovery manager

i confused is the software now installed on the PC ?

is this a restore going back to a previous date - or a re-install

when you re-install the software you may need to download drivers - lets see a device manager

Device Manager
Post back the results in device manager
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

About a week ago, our cable internet connection went out. Before I had a chance to reboot the modem & router, my 11 year old decided to completely reset the router to factory settings! Ugh! This caused several issues: my home network is now gone, only a unsecured factory network is available. When I try to plug my laptop into the router via ethernet cord (in order to login to router and setup secure network) my computer will not recognize the router and won't connect to internet. I tried troubleshooting with my cable provider and they say it's in my computer (IP address will not reset) and he recommended I replace my network card. However, today when I brought my laptop to work, it will instantly recognize the wifi at work. So is it really my network card that is causing issues? Please help, I'm desperate and not tech too tech savvy!

I have a Dell inspiron and it has Windows vista on it. This morning I had a virus, it was called antivirus soft. I had Norton protection but it had expired. Stupidly I updated the norton when i had the virus attack and dowloaded the updated version. I ran the norton but it said no virus detected. I then decided to do a system restore. I did it in 'safe mode' not knowing that I couldn't go back to the original settings. Now that it has restored there is no more virus. everything seems fine except I don't have internet activity getting to my computer. It works in the rest of the house but not my computer. Before I did this the internet worked smoothly, no problems. Comcast is my internet provider. Also, the norton program, well, windows doesn't see it anymore, it doesn't exist on the computer except in the uninstall folder. when I try to uninstall it it says it can't find the path. I tried to restore to another date and it's the same thing. What do I have to set so my computer sees the internet again?
thanks in advance!

Try uninstalling Norton with the Norton Removal Tool. Traces of it are most likely blocking your Internet access.

Recently, I found myself unable to connect to the internet on my home computer (I'm posting from my laptop). When I try to "troubleshoot problems" from the system tray, I am told "The Diagnostics Policy Service is not running." I am given the option to "Try these repairs as an administrator". However, no changes are made when I do.

The service is set to automatic. If I try to start it in MMC, I am given the error:

"Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service service on Local Computer

Error 5: Access is denied"

In addition to this, Windows Action Center began displaying an alert that the Windows Firewall is off. If I try to start it, I am given the error "Action Center can't turn on Windows Firewall." If I try the option "Turn on Windows Firewall manually", and click "Use recommended settings", I am given the error:

"Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings.
Error code 0x8007042c"

At this point, I suspected a virus might be possible, so I ran Avast! (Free). The results said windows\syswow\64\wdi\perftrack\AltTab.ptxml was posibly corrupt, but found no viruses.

I tried to run system restore, but I was given the error:

"The disk Local Disk (C:) has errors.

Windows has detected file system corruption on Local Disk (C:). You must check the disk for errors before it can be restored."

I scheduled a chkdsk scan for n... Read more

I've picked up something on my PC that is proving ridiculously hard to get rid of, and I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give.

I was surfing the web and had googled a few things, and some of the links I clicked on were taking me to strange search sites. I thought nothing of it at the time, since some of the google links were working, but now that I've read a few comments from people suffering a similar problem, I realize that was probably another symptom of this problem. At any rate, I restarted my computer, and that's when it all went bad.

I'm getting an error message on startup titled "svchost" which reads 'The instruction at "0x75606eb5" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.' I cannot connect to the internet. I can see wireless networks, but when I try to connect it tells me that it can't renew my IP address.

I've run Spy-Bot, Symantec, Ad-Aware, Malewarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, but the problem persists. I wasn't able to run any of the anti-spyware software until I changed the name of the exe file. I've tried to do a system restore, but it wouldn't work. I was able to open system restore and select the day to restore, but when I hit "next" to start the restore, it did nothing.

I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, and nothing appears to work. Symantec and Walewarebytes found a... Read more

Can someone provide some detail about the differences in
content between Win7 system repair disc, system restore point and system image?
And perhaps I should add Dell ISO recovery image to the list.  I don't know (yet) if that is different from the Win7 system image option, or if the latter invokes the Dell ISO recovery image program instead.  If it matters, I have a Dell Precision
5510 laptop.
At the very least, is each option a superset of the other, perhaps in the order that I specify above?
Ideally, what are the folder names that each contains, if indeed their content can be described by complete folders?
I am trying to determine which of those options I need to create in order to have
complete recovery capability.
I have read the following support.microsoft.com articles:
Those descriptions are indequate for my purposes, in part because of differences in terminology.
For example, the System Recovery Disc option "can help you repair Windows", whereas the System Restore (Point) option "restores your computer's
system files".
In that context, are "Windows" and "system files" synonyms content-wise; or is one a superset of the other; or do they have some non-overlapping content?
I suspect that the System Recovery Disc contains only "Windows"... Read more

I have an HP Pavilion g6. This laptop used to run fine with no issues. Now no matter what I do I cannot get the computer to connect to any wireless networks. I can still connect via direct LAN eithernet cable. There is only a LAN Network symbol where the Wifi symbol used to be. The wireless key's light remains solid orange and does not change. No message appears when it is pressed. The divice manager only lists the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and does not list any Ralink driver as it should. I have tried everything. Reseting does nothing.  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have a HP Notebook 15. I restarted my laptop this morning and when it came back on, all options for connecting to the internet via WiFi were gone. I am able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable, and everything works this way. There are no options whatsoever to connect to WiFi or reset the connection or anything, however the WiFi itself is working because other devices in the house are connected to it. I followed a HP technical support online page, which provided step-by-step instructions of various ways to reconnect to WiFi but nothing worked. I tried restarting the computer, updating the driver software, making sure it wasn't in airplane mode, and troubleshooting. Nothing worked. What should I try next?

I am ready to give up on HP AND Windows 7.  My laptop worked fine until a week ago - did all - reset router, plugged HP 15 laptop into router....wireless has stopped working - low signal sometimes if I spend hours removing and reinstalling, etc.
Reinstalled network adapter - have Kaspersky 2017 - tried turning it off.  Using Windows Firewall - tried turning off.
Keeps saying network adapter has invalid IP config.  Laptop of my husband next to mine is working fine!  Same settings.
Have done EVERYTHING.....running HP Network Diagnostics....same errors - problem w/wireless adapter or access point and "wireless connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration.
Previously I used to see my neighbors wifi network names in the bar at the bottom where the wireless strength shows.  Now only see my computer/homegroup (which I also deleted and reset umpteen times)....is this a clue?
Thank you.

Okay, so my desktop is connected to the network by wifi to the wireless N (plus B and G) router. It connects to the internet fine and dandy. My iPhone can connect to the router, but drops the wifi signal most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to hold the connection because of either distance or interference from the wall or whatever.

What I want is to connect the iPhone's wifi to the computer for a stronger connection. But I don't want to move the router because it's centrally located and my office is kinda further away from it.

1 computer
1 802.11n wireless USB adapter connected to computer
1 802.11g wireless PCI adapter connected to computer
1 802.11n router connected to internet
1 iPhone with 802.11b/g connectivity
Is it possible to do this? I know what people have done it with one wired connection and a wireless connection from the computer. But can it be done with TWO wireless adapters connected to the computer?

Thanks in advance for any replies....

PS...I know it'd be easier to just use the computer to browse the internet since I'd be in the office anyway...but I work as a 3D modeler and alot of times I'm testing renders for scenes and such and can't stop the render without losing the progress. If I browse while it's rendering, it's possible I can crash the computer because of the heavy resources the 3D engine is already using.

A:Possible to connect iPhone's wifi to computer that is connected by wifi to the net?

Doesn't hurt (except maybe your time) to try. Get an ad-hoc wireless network working between computer and iPhone (using dynamic addressing). Then in Network Connections bridge the two wireless connections.

If it doesn't work, show the following for the computer before you bridge and when you have the bridge.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hi there @Dee85 Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having troubles with connecting to your home network; I am happy to help. Have you tried connecting to a different network with this notebook?Does the wifi (available connections) show up on your notebook at all?Have you tried resetting your wireless router? The error you are getting sounds like the router is not passing on a local IP address to your notebook. The problem could be on either side of that. Try working through these.Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8)Also, you can look at the power management for your wireless adapter:Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:1.
