I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Does anyone know of a dual band WLAN module that works with a United States hp Pavilion g6 (g6-1b59wm) laptop? I've searched the forums and found a little background info, but was never really able to come to a conclusion on my question. I loooked over the hp Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02829479) and it appears to list two compatible dual band WLAN modules: 1.) Atheros AR9285 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi adapter - hp Spare Part # 580101-0012.) Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter - hp Spare Part # 602993-001 However, when I search the hp parts website for those two part numbers, they both show up as single band WLAN modules. I know there's a BIOS whitelist for my particular hp laptop that only allows hp approved WLAN modules to be used with the laptop. I know I could go the route of getting a USB dual band capable wifi adapter, but I'd prefer to keep the USB ports on my laptop freed up I'm getting the feeling that there aren't any dual band WLAN modules available for my hp laptop. Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Hi: Looking at the service manual for your notebook I see a few mistakes... The Atheros and Realtek cards are definitely mislabeled in the manual as dual band (a/b/g/n) cards. They are only single band cards. But the Intel WiFi Link 5100 should be a dual band card, so i think that is mislabled and should be an a/b/g/n card. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/wifi-link-5100-brief.pdf Unfortunately, the Intel Wifi Link 5100 wlan card will not work in your particular model because it has AMD hardware. The Intel cards will only work in notebooks with an Intel processor and chipset. So, as I see it, you cannot install an internal dual band wlan card in your notebook because of the BIOS whitelist.

Hello, I am looking to replace the wireless modem (631956-005) currently in my HP Folio 13-2000?  I researched a few threads but not getting a complete answer.  Some say the Intel 7260 802.11ac - 7260HMW will work.  Has anyone attempted this upgrade?  I would like a dual band option... the 2.4Ghz band is okay, but I have a dual band modem and would like to take advantage of the larger bandwidth options.  Looking for any insight and feedback.  Thanks!

After Windows update my WiFi adapter (Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165) just stopped working.I tried many drivers, but the official driver did not work, the latest (2017-10) driver from intel's websites is not working either. Rolling back the driver is not working anymore after windows update.I tried static IP, did not help. This is not an adapter issue, because on Ubuntu it's working very well. After connecting to a network, the connection stays alive for 2-5 secs, then the adapter restarts automatically. In event viewer I can see some warnings.WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.Module Path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\IWMSSvc.dll It's extremely annoying because it's a "bussiness" category laptop without wireless connection. Any ideas ? Can I download from somewhere some older drivers for this adapter ? I'm having problems with my pavilion 17-G192DX.  when I have the wifi on, it works for about 10 minutes, then basically shuts down my home network - TV locks up, no other computers can access the internet.  As soon as I turn the wifi off, everything goes back to normal.  HP troubleshooting can find nothing...when the thing is working, that is.  I'd like to upgradethe wifi card with a dual band unit?  I'm thinking the Intel 7260 2x2.  Will that work in this computer?  Any other options?  P/N is V0Q01UA.

A:can I put a dual band wifi card in my pavilion 17-G192DX not...

Yes you can install any wireless card of the right form factor which for your laptop is an M.2 adapter. See the Manual here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655191 The 7260ac is a mini-pcie card and is not compatible but you could MAYBE install an Intel 8260ac card: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-8260AC-8260NGW-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B01ERMBDCK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&q... Start on p. 31 with removal of the back cover and read through p. 39. The hesitation is that, to install a dual band card you must have 2 antennae and on some HP models with lower-end wireless cards there is only one. So if you want to do this I recommend open it first and count antennae. If two, you can install the card linked above, which will perform as well as any wireless card you can buy.  Let us know if there are other questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as SOlution" to help others find it.

Ok so i have a shot in the dark question, I am not sure on what parts are avalable for this laptop. I just picked this up on a trade and so far has been a pretty decent little machine. It has stock 2.4ghz wifi, which i know is pretty standard. My question is, is there a different internal wifi card i can replace the stock on with that will give me access to both 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz. I have been considering going the usb adapter route for both wifi bands but would like to keep some usb ports avalable without needing to get a small hub. Any info would be Appreciated! Thanks

Hi: Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593667 Unfortunately the 3 supported wireless cards listed in chapter 3 are all single band cards. Back when your notebook was produced, HP had a BIOS whitelist which prevents any other wlan card from working other than the ones listed in the service manual.

Just want to add to the compatability discussion....... I just successfully replaced stock  RTL3290 adapter in my HP Pavilion n-010dx X360 Win10 64-bit (ver.1607) with an Intel AC-7260.  I added a second antenna to inside of the laptop display chassis and the card connected to  my SonicWall TZ-217 Wireless N NSA at 300mbps without any fuss. Bluetooth 4.0 works flawlessly with my Jabra STEALTH (v. headset (headphone and microphone).  Using the stock HP BIOS (updated) and Intel drivers BT_19.10.1635_64_Win10 (64 bit) & Wireless_19.10.0_PROSet64_Win10.  Speedtest.net pulls 51.51/5.42 on my 50/5 connection. Totally screams. Have fun!

Hi there!

So about 2 months ago, I purchased the AC53 when I moved in to a house share.
We have Virgin Media SuperHub that does both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
When I installed it, it worked fine and connected excellently to the 5G band, a few days ago however the 5G connection disappeared off my list and now it always connects me to the 2.4ghz band.

Tried resetting my SuperHub and re-installing the drivers and software utility for the AC53 but alas it doesn't show. My phone however can find and connect to the 5G band.

I'm a bit confused as where to go from here!

Any help would be much appreciated!

After re-installing you can't connect at all or just only connect to 2.4?

Can you run ipconfig /all and post back the results.
Click Start, in the search box type cmd, under programs right click on cmd and select "Run as Administrator".
In the command prompt window type ipconfig /all and press enter.
Next right click within the command prompt and select "Select All" press enter.
Paste the results back in this thread.

OK, this is my first time being a part of or using a tech related forum so here it goes:

I'm trying to help save a neighbor some money by fixing their wireless network.

WNDR3700 Dual band Netgear router.

2.4ghz wireless b/g/n with enabled SSID broadcast, channel=auto, mode set to 130Mbps
WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES. wireless isolation is not enabled.

5Ghz wireless a/n enabled SSID broadcast, channel = 44, Mode is up to 300Mbps
No security encription. (i know...bad, but the lady has lots of kids and family members coming
and going from the house so she doesn't want one encripted). Video network enabled

Both Radio frequencies are enabled, fragment and CTS/RTS set to max

WPS settings = keep existing.

IPv6 not enabled, No repeating is enabled, No guest networks are enabled(however ssid broadcast is enabled for guest profile 1)
The problem, and reason for fixing the problem is that the 2.4 Ghz band light on the router is ON however the SSID is not being seen by any client in the house. the netgear interface says it is on and working. the neighbor needs the 2.4ghz band to work because the printer is wireless and will only recognize 2.4Ghz SSIDs. Also they have older nintendo DS clients they would like to use on the network.

During the day the 5 Ghz band works with very seldom (1-2) disconnects while the 2.4 Ghz band wont be visible to any device. in the evening both bands will come online, and very often will every computer get disconnected from either, the 5Ghz band wi... Read more

N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400.

I am trying to get a signal out in my garage at the opposite end of my router location. I am getting 1 bar and "poor" signal. I downloaded inSSIDer to analyse my signal and I notice that my "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" is not broadcasting anything. The checkbox for "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked.

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it seems to me that if it is a dual band that I should be seeing 2 different signals, right?

All I see is this: Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)

I have attached screenshot of my settings

Can someone help me out with this? Thanks, Joe

My Billion BiPAC 7800VDOX Dual Band Wireless VoIP ADSL2+ Router has two bands:  2.4GHz and 5GHz.  and is wirelessly connected to my laptop OMEN by HP Laptop PC  17-w007tx.  It always shows as connected via 5GHz band only.  My laptop also shows 5GHz band only in the list of available networks;  2.4GH does not show up in the list of available networks.  It is not so in my other laptop which is also connected to the same router and that laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks.  Thus, I can choose to connect to any of the two bands as per my choice. I have tested the router and it is working perfectly; there is nothing wrong with it.I wonder what can possibly be wrong in my OMEN laptop that it does not show both the bands which it should. At times, when I click to open the list of available networks, 2.4GHz may appear momentarily only and then disappears; thus I can not choose it for connection. I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue so that my OMEN laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks so as to choose either one for connection.

A:Several BSOD on HP Pavilion dv7t - Please Help

So this has started occurring only a week after the previous solution, or you mean that it's started happening again a week from now?

It actually looks identical to the 0x9F crashes you experienced before. It's reporting the generic MS usbhub driver is holding up things during a power down scenario. I take it your woes are happening while either powering down (sleep, hibernate, etc.) or recovering from a power down.

Unfortunately this seems to be far more elusive than what can be garnered from simple minidumps. I guess we can use Driver Verifier here, but I doubt that will help figure things, since I'm figuring we're not dealing with a bad driver here. It's worth the effort though.

I believe, since you replaced it with a different mouse and it's still causing woes, that we might be dealing with a motherboard problem here. You'll wanna go to the HP website and find and download any recent BIOS and motherboard chipset driver updates. I notice that your BIOS itself is from June 2009 so that may be an issue there.

If neither the BIOS nor motherboard chipset driver updates seem to resolve anything, than you most likely are dealing with a malfunctioning motherboard, or the system itself is deprecated and they are no longer posting any new driver or BIOS updates for your PC, in which case you're pretty much up the creek without a paddle. Your only alternative would be to try and find updates for the actual manufacturer of the BIOS and motherboard and see if those work. ... Read more

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t that has a broken hinge. It has slowly become a problem. First the screw fell out and we tried to replace it but it did not hold it tight enough. I have been very carefull with my laptop and I very rarely move it from its location in our house. Now I realize that my free support ended last week September 25th.  I wish I had looked into the problem sooner because I have been dealing with it for months. I have seen the other posts and seen where some have tried to get this fixed and others have been sent a new laptop. What are my options at this point? Will it cost me to call support and ask what they recommend I do? I am very disappointed in HP because I have up to now had great trust in this company and it's products.

There are three different wireless drivers available for your model HP, Intel, Ralink, or Atheros. Do you have the correct driver for the wireless NIC being used? You can check that in Device Manger. You can obtain the correct driver in the link below.

Have you gone into "Manage Wireless Connections" in the Network and Sharing center to manually input the correct wireless security and encryption?

This would be the same security and encryption that you have set in your router's wireless settings. Using WPA2 security with AES encryption usually works best with Windows 7 certified drivers.

Hello, I have been randomly getting the BSD for a year now. I have formatted and reinstalled Windows 7 several times, upgraded to Windows 8 for a short time and then back to Windows 7 once the unit crashed in Windows 8 as well. I have replaced with new the memory, hard drive and motherboard. The only thing that isn't new is the CPU! I have disabled one GPU and vise versa. I have monitored temps. This motherboard doesn't seem to be supported to be able to monitor fan speed, but I can say I checked the fan and it's wires when I installed the new motherboard and also checked for air output through the exhaust vent. So I can only assume the cause is either the CPU or it is software/driver related?

Hello - I have a HP Pavilion dv7t-6000 laptop  with a Realtek RTL 8188CE wireless controller. My Internet connection is through Comcast and I can get up to 150mbps with a WIRED connection but only about 35mbps with the wireless controller on this laptop.   This seems a bit slow to me and I was trying to update the drivers but cannot seem to find them for this wireless controller for this laptop. Why is this driver not posted on HP's support site for this laptop? I realize I can probably go to Realtek's site (or, I found updated drivers on Lenovo site) but I'm reluctant to load them. Running fully updated Windows 7 Pro. Any help or advice would be appreciated. TIA

I have an HP Pavilion DV7T-7000 Series Quad Edidion laptop, and the screen cracked. I need to replace it, but no sites have the full hd 1920 x 1080 version that I need. All they have to offer is the WXGA+ version (1600 x 900). I found this:

Would this be compatible with my model? I realize it is not for my particular model, but the connector is on the bottom left, as mine is. If anyone has any suggestions or advice it would be helpful.

I have a 1440p monitor and was wondering if there is any way to get up to that resolution of 2560 x 1440. The max resolution I can get to is 1920x1080 using extend desktop or using only monitor 2. All drivers are up to date. In the manual it says the max resolution supported by the hdmi, which is what I'm using, is 1920 x 1200, but my graphics card is not listed in the manual, which is the 7690m xt. And before you ask, yes all my drivers are up to date, even though the amd display driver is from 2011. I've also tried the other output which is vga, again maxing out at 1080p.

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

Hi.I have a Lenovo G5070 which came with the default Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter, which did not detect the 5GHz wireless band of my router.I managed to get Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC of Lenovo G5080 from a friend of mine, who was disposing it. On the G5080, this wireless lan adaptor detects 5GHz. But, when i placed the same adaptor on G5070, even though it shows as "Radio types supported     : 802.11n 802.11g 802.11b" when checked via command 'netsh wlan show drivers', practically, the 5GHz band does not show up on the PC's available wireless networks. It shows only the 2.4GHz networks  Can someone please let me know the reason and remedy for this please.

Hello I have a new router with 5g so I wanted to upgrade my wireless card to fully use the new speeds, I have read the card needs to be on a whitelist but that is as far as I can understand, can anyone advise which card is the upgrade for my laptop. After putting in my serial number the parts list shows,  Ltn HFA335 1x1BN+BT4.0 PCIE M.2Wireless LAN adapters20200558 but cannot see anything that says this is an ac wireless card 5GHz, I am using windows 10.Thanks

A:z50 70 WLAN Replacement?

Good day and welcome to the community.
The parts list you see after providing you S/N is what is actually in your machine. The 20200558 card is not an AC card.
Have a look at page 80 of your hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g_z_50_series_hmm.pdf and look at item #13, which are the wireless cards. The last three are AC cards.
If you go to purchase, make sure that the card is a genuine Lenovo FRU part. A generic version of the same card won't work.

Hi there, I dropped my laptop on my bed and a blue screen came up saying the laptop must restart. When it did I couldnt get any wifi connections. It said no connections available and didnt give me the option to turn on wifi etc. I looked around online and saw suggestion to update driver/delete and reinstall driver. I done this and when I opened wifi connections it gave me a list of connections. When I click it, it does a loading symbol for a while and then gives an error message. I close it and all the networks are gone again and doesnt show anything. The driver shows the yellow exclamation symbol next to it.  I am pretty sure I damaged my wifi network card and it needs to be replaced as I went through all the trouble shooting steps. Is it easy to do that myself or should I get a professional? Any online videos/tutorials for the z50 70? How do I find out which wifi cards work with my laptop and where can I buy them? Currently really deep in college work so time is of the essence. Cheers

Can someone explain in layman's terms how a dual band wireless router works? I've spent months reading various articles and websites, and I still just don't get it. I read on one site (can't remember which) that dual band routers require special wireless adapters, but I've never seen a dual band wireless adapter, so I doubt the validity of that. Is a dual band wireless router good for splitting video streaming from regular web surfing?

If someone knows of a good website that offers a clear and accurate explanation, please post a link. Don't post links from random Google searches. I've read most of them. If they helped, I wouldn't be posting here.
