Satellite P200HD-1DV: Event error on startup -Unable to start a DCOM Server

Q: Satellite P200HD-1DV: Event error on startup -Unable to start a DCOM Server

Every time I restart it is extremely slow and I believe caused by the following 2 errors that appear in the System Event Log as event ID 10000:

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {7160A13D-73DA-4CEA-95B9-37356478588A}. The error: "2"
Happened while starting this command:
C:\Windows\system32\igfxext.exe -Embedding

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {078AEF33-C48A-49F7-AFF3-A0EE810BFE7C}. The error: "2"
Happened while starting this command:
C:\Windows\system32\igfxsrvc.exe -Embedding

I believe they are Intel drivers but have failed to find a remedy to this problem.
Other than a real slow startup there appears to be no other problem.
Am I the only one with this problem and anybody know the cure?

Preferred Solution: Satellite P200HD-1DV: Event error on startup -Unable to start a DCOM Server

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Satellite P200HD-1DV: Event error on startup -Unable to start a DCOM Server

So, you figured out where the problem is but why didn?t you installed another intel graphics drivers? I mean, you know where the problem is and you can resolve it.

Otherwise, if a reinstall does not help it would be better to completely recover your system to eliminate the problem.

A:Unable to start a DCom server error

Does not appear to be serious. DCOM errors typically mean antivirus software, firewall software, or router settings are not configured/working properly. Are you experiencing any issues with the system?

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
When asked, save the display information in English.
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Create a new folder by right clicking in a blank area within the folder Errors.evtx is saved in. You could also click New Folder at the top of the directory under the directory path box.
Name the new folder Errors.
Place Errors.evtx and the LocaleMetaData folder into the new Errors folder.
Right click the Errors folder -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

Unable to start a DCOM Server: {06622D85-6856-4460-8DE1-A81921B41C4B}. The error:"2"Happened while starting this command:C:\Windows\SysWOW64\DllHost.exe /Processid:{06622D85-6856-4460-8DE1-A81921B41C4B}
Been getting this error for years and can't access certain control panels directly (but can through full control panel) like desktop "personalization" (clicking any links under "See also" in this window does nothing). Control Panel refuses
to show its cascading menu in the Start Menu too.

06622D85-6856-4460-8DE1-A81921B41C4B is COpenControlPanel. I searched for these in the registry editor but couldn't find the command-line used in the error which, if I run in a command prompt,
gives this error:
This version of C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
If I run c:\windows\system32\dllhost.exe /processid:{06622D85-6856-4460-8DE1-A81921B41C4B} it works fine. How do I get DCOM to use the 32-bit dllhost.exe? I've tried the backup 64-bit dllhost.exe in C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-com-surrogate_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_43fa44d954d596e7
but get the same bit-depth conflict error above.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi All,

I have an HPE 520 NL, x64 desktop, windows 7 home premium SP1. I have had many intermittent startup problems, with some elements hanging at shut down. I'm not well enought versed in this to figure it all out myself -- too computer illterate. Everything from DCOM servor error 10010, to Easybits service failing to start, to the print spooler failing to share (error 2114), to Ralink UPnP Media Server timeout, etc. No system errors with sfc scannow, no hard disk errors with chkdsk.

I am attempting to upload the Event Viewer administrative logs as a zip file and hope that it works.

If anyone can advise, I would be very, very grateful!

Thanks so much,
T

A:Many startup repairs, DCOM server error, system hang on shutdown, etc

Work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to gather clues to the problem, disinfect, try fixes like the System File Scanner (if necessary from boot), and help optimize Win7 so it performs best.

But if you're running the original HP factory install you should know that is the worst possible install one can have to begin with, with the worst load of bloatware that throttles WIn7 native performance. For this reason most tech enthusiasts choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware

Having problems last several days running backup, and all programs are taking minutes to start if at all. On the "Console Root - Event Viewer (local) - System" log for this week, I have dozens of DCOM Event 10010 error messages saying "The server {D61A27C6-8F53-11D0-BFA0-00A024151983} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout" (mentioning 5 or six different servers between the {}). Then, when I go to "Console Root - Component Services" and try to open "Computers" the "Console Root - Component Services" application shuts down.

Appreciate any thoughts on what's going on and how to fix it.

Thanks, Scott

My Win2K server has an enormous amount of errors regarding DCOM.

Event Type: Error

I ran the dcom config tool and found it to be msiserver to be the cause. I did a search and found a few others with the same issue, but with different causes, like msword, apc power shoot, etc. No one has come up with an answer to the riddle though of how to correct it, OR if it is some sort of hack/attack/virus that is showing up. I really dont want to give this particular DCOM server access if it will cause an issue. If you Kn0w what I mean!

I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to correct a persistent Event ID 10016 error that keeps showing up in Event Viewer.

I've actually found a couple of guides on how to fix this...change the launch permissions for the app that's causing the problem (IPbusEnum) but when I try to change the launch permissions using dcomcnfg none of the options on the properties/securities tab are available (grayed out).

My user has administrator permissions, I've tried launching dcomcnfg.exe by right click/click on "run as administrator" but no go.

Here's the text of the error message:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}
and APPID
{344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

The CLSID and APPID resolve to a service run under svchost (IPBusEnum). Would appreciate any pointers/hints on how to resolve this error.

Problem: My desktop computer automatically shuts down and restarts immediately after Windows begins to boot up and reboots to the "start Windows in Safe mode." It will only start in safe mode without networking meaning it has no Internet connection. I believe the adaptor for the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-132 Wireless USB Adapter Packet Scheduler Miniport might be corrupted and may be the cause of the failure of my computer to boot properly. When I try and uninstall the adapter, I get this message: "Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer."

The event log shows event number 10005 with the DCOM as the source. Windows tech support web site suggests uninstalling the TCP/IP to correct this issue.

I'm also getting an event error codes of 7001 and 7026 with the Service Control Manager as the source. All of these event log entries coincide with the commencement of this problem of Windows failing to boot normally.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Boot to safe mode, and runn this command from the CMD prompt:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Then run:

Then reboot your computer into regular mode, and you should be OK.

This will reset TCP/IP and Winsocks...

A:HELP need to solve this problem asap - Unable to start event viewer/event log service

Fire up regedit and find this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog

With "Eventlog" highlighted on the left pane, you should be able to see a value called "ImagePath" on the right. ImagePath should be equal to this:

%SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted

If you can't see "ImagePath" in that location, or if it's not set to the text above, that's almost certainly your problem. If you're in the habit of using "registry cleaners", that might be the cause.

Following significant boot time degradation (1.5 mins from 25 secs), I started following the event logs.
Several Boot Event 100 errors showed up as "Critical" but the 101-110 events were mixed and inconclusive.
The following administrative event error 10016 shows up consistently, however:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}
and APPID
{344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

The Microsoft Community forum has several answers to this issue but all conclude with modifying the ownership of the referenced APPID in DCOM.  Unfortunately neither the APPID nor the CLSID actually appear there.  I have changed permissions for
these entities (to administrator) in the registry but this has had no effect.
Can you offer any suggestions?

I have someone who is experiencing random connection problems on the clients such as slow or no connections to mapped network shares. Event id 10009 keeps being recorded in the domain controller logs.

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer MARK-PC.pmc.local using any of the configured protocols.

It has a range of different computer names within the same events. As far as DCOM is configured it's only setup to use TCP-IP.

Server - Windows Server 2008 Standard FE
System type: 64-bit Operating System

Clients:
24 XP Pro
2 Vista Pro
2 Vista Home (should they be using home in an environment like this?)

I have attached the last 256 logs from Application & System as of yesterday evening at around 5pm'ish. I've checked again this morning and looks like the same error has already been re-occurring.

Can anyone give me any suggestion as to where to go with this?

Thanks.

A:Event ID: 10009 DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <computer name>

Extra Info

Sorry I forgot to also mention that the server is acting as a DHCP server and that there router has had DHCP disabled. Client PC'S are set to local static IP'S and are not actually set to obtain if this has any variance.

Thanks, David

Last night, system running fine. Woke this morning to login screen, aka MS sent an update. Boot up but the start menu is stuck. This has happened before, a simple reboot usually fixes this and its good going forward. Not this time, restart it might work but will eventually stop again. Looking at task manager I have Service Host: DCOM Server Process Launcher (6) taking up 26-30% utilization. Boot into safe mode and everything is fine however.

I don't know what was in last nights update but it appears to have really screwed up my system. The only thing I added yesterday was CPUID CPU-Z, I really don't think that is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

1. When double clicking on the 'my computer' icon, the window pops up, but then the window goes blank and the flashlight starts going back and forth. After around 45 seconds or so, everything comes up and works fine. If I double click on c: drive it comes right up. I don't have any more problems with going through different files or folders unless I close the window. If I double click on 'my computer' again, it does the same thing. It also creates a DCOM 10010 error in the event viewer.

2. If I go to the start menu and click on search, the start menu disappears, but nothing else happens. I don't know if it is related, but if I am saving a file, it doesn't auto fill/complete the file name if it already exists in the folder. It used to do this and would be helpful to have back.

3. I have 2 printers attached to my computer. One is a color laser and works fine. The other is an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax, but I only use it for scanning. When I click on scanners & cameras, it also takes about 45 seconds before it comes up with the window, which does have any devices listed in it. I believe it creates a DCOM 10010 error in the event viewer. Again, it used to scan just fine. We currently have it plugged into a different computer and it works on that computer just fine.

I know some places say to disable Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to fix the 'my computer' problem. It didn't seem to change anything when I tried disabling ... Read more

recently (about 2 weeks back) i have been receiving 1 of 2 error messages either dcom server process launcher terminated unexpectadly or plug and play terminated unexpectadly, when these messages occur (usually every2-2 1/2 hours) im given a 1 minute countdown at the end of this countdown my computer restarts. while this doesn't seem to be harming my computer it is amazingly annoying, also if i go on yahoo search and look for a item i click on a link and im redirected to an advertising site: this occurs every 3 out of 4 clicks of said link. i have tried every antivirus software i own norton antivirus, malicous removal tool, windows defender, and malwarebytes nothing has worked every scans shows no infection. im not the only one having this problem several sites and forums i have visited has people with the same or similar problem which has happened to them in roughly the same time frame. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it because so far my only option would be to reformat my computer and reinstall every thing and i would really like to avoid that. please help me bleeping computer your my only hope.

This past month upon starting Windows I've been getting this nagging error message that causes a countdown from 60 seconds then it restarts Windows:

"Windows must now restart because DCOM server process launcher service terminated."

I know how to intervene with the "shutdown -a" command, but I'd like to know what the cause of the problem is and how to get rid of it.

I have a HijackThis log that hopefully proves helpful to someone here. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I am running Windows XP SP3. It's been approximately a week since I started receiving DCOM Sevice Process Launcher error. I changed the recovery options of the service to restart the service after 1 minute instead of restarting the computer. So now I only acknowledge the error message and continue working. This problem appears sporadically every few minutes. I looked at the application and system event logs and can't see any pattern that may suggest what triggers it. Below are the messages from the application and system event logs:

I'm hoping I can get this input before my machine crashes again (XP). It crashes about every 10 minutes - 5 of which it takes to boot up.
I keep getting DCOM Server Process Launcher is unable to launch the service (I think that is what it says).
Then it gives me the location of a file in the owner/local settings/temp directory - which promptly gets deleted and my machine reboots.
I was able to run spybot, but the machine doesn't stay up long enough to run adaware. Here is the hijack log. Can you please help me?
Thank you. There are some additional problems, but I will post those after I get this one taken care of. Thank you.

It then counts down from one minute and restarts...This happens quite frequently and it's frankly a pain in the ***...Can anyone help me? I am in the process of download Hijack This now, and can put up a log if necessary...

I have tried doing system roll backs but it still happens...I have had an array of anti-spyware programs downloaded recently including Avast (which I still have not been able to uninstall completely!!) and Scottie Winpatrol and Advanced System Care Free (which is still installed)...I have also been using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall programs and removing any leftover files or registry keys...I hope I have not accidentally removed something important from the registry...

My problems are:

-Frequent DCOM process server error followed by 60 second system shutdown timer ( I do know how to stop the timer).

-all Google and Yahoo search results redirect me to random pages.

-when opening new internet explorer tabs or windows I'm getting additional popups or redirects very frequently, and the system is running really slow.

I have run fully updated versions of: AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot:Search and Destroy, and Windows malicious software removal tool, none of them find any problems.

Ad-aware worked until a couple days ago, now it causes the DCOM process server error and the program crashes if i try to: run it, get auto updates, uninstall it, or attempt to install a fresh copy.

Please help. =(

It hasn't happened again - yet, but having read previous threads where people have had similar problems I thought I would post to see if there were any things I could do to see what the potential problem could be.

I have done a scan with AdAware which shows no problems, also AVG has detected no problems.

Hi, this is my first time posting here, I came across this site while trying to Google fixes for my problem. I noticed that there are a lot of helpful members here, so I figured I might try my luck. So basically, I THINK I have the same problem as this fellow member who posted in this thread. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...pic=195142&Although our problems are similar, I'm not entirely certain they may be caused by the same thing so I just wanted a second opinion in case I mess up my computer by doing something incorrect.I've encountered a number of issues with viruses and malware over the past week, but I'm getting close to completely ridding my machine of all infections. I'm using a Sony Vaio FE-690P laptop and running a legal copy of Windows XP Professional. Before my problems started, I was using Ad-Aware and McAfee VirusScan periodically as my main defense against infections. When my computer started to act up, I performed scans through each program. Each scan turned up a number of items, some more dangerous than others, so I took note of them and deleted the items. Upon a system reboot, I performed the same scan again and found that some of the exact items I thought had just deleted reappeared. One of the four items that I was unable to get rid of was the Virtumonde virus. After doing some internet research, I downloaded Spyware Doctor, paid for a subscription, and performed a scan. Spyware Doctor found the same items as Ad-Aware, but wou... Read more

A:Generic Host Process Error / DCOM Server Terminated?

This is the exact same problem I'm having. Right to the dot. Even the freezing part.

I've also noticed that if I open Windows Explorer sometimes my computer will freeze.

Even the virus I removed was the same. o-o

Hey, need some help from the experts please!! My computer has been all kinds of crazy recently. I have been working on it for 6 hours scanning and re-scanning. My friend ran The Ultimate Windows Boot CD or something and found and cleaned a ton of viruses. Kept working on it at home, but still couldn't get rid of two major problems. The first is a DCOM Server Process Launcer Service Terminated error that comes up on boot with a countdown. Found out that I could use "shutdown -a" in the Run dialogue to at least give myself some functionality. Downloaded Ad-Aware and cleaned a bunch of stuff. It still keeps finding the Win32TrojanTDSS file though and can't get rid of it. Downloaded McAfee Security Center Endpoint Protection Home Use Option that the Army offers for free off of the Army Knowledge Online portal. It installed fine but when I go to start it it shows the loading screen, then it disappears and the program start screen does not come up. I also cannot initiate a scan by right-click, it does nothing. Tried to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but it does not start either. Now I have some weird thing going on that plays advertisements and music immediately after trying to start Malwarebytes.

I am running Windows XP. Can you please help me??? I am fairly computer literate and really need my computer back!!! Thanks in advance.

A:Help! All messed up with Win32TrojanTDSS and a DCOM Server Process Launcher Error

Hello tigerjai and to Bleepingcomputer.TDSS is the name of a rootkit, a stealth component many kinds of malware make use of. It hides other infections from being seen by Windows, and thus by any scanners we run. We need to hit that first, and Malwarebytes is the one of the best options available to us here in AII. After we get the rootkit, we'll need to run a couple other scans to make sure we catch all the baddies on your system.Let's try a little variation on running Malwarebytes and see if we can't fool the malware that's keeping it from running. Delete the copy you have already downloaded please. Also, please read all of the instructions below before doing anything.***************************************************Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2IMPORTANT!!! - when you save the file, rename it to something random, such as bubbles.exe. Hey,I have been getting the problems with redirecting the website whenever i click on search engine produced link in any browser(Firefox, IE, chrome). I have tried various Antivirus + MBAM + Spybot and removed everything that was detected. But this redirecting problem comes up again along with random website popups. Recently I have also started getting windows error message which gives 1 minute timer for shutdown : :Windows must now restart because DCOM server process launcher service terminated. I have used run command "shutdown -a" to get out of that 1minute timer. I am posting the required logs as asked. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate with Microsoft Security Essentials as antivirus. Starting about 9 months ago when I would plug in a USB flashdrive my laptop would display this message and restart "Windows must now restart because the Plug and Play service terminated unexpectedly". Only happened when I plugged in a USB flashdrive. External hard drives worked no problem. My laptop then started to BSOD every once in awhile. Then after awhile it got to the point where it would only stay on for a few hours before the BSOD. Then 3 weeks ago it started displaying this message on startup of Windows "Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly". After 20 seconds Windows would restart. I'm unable to do anything in Windows longer than 20 seconds. I have backed up my important files using a Live Ubuntu USB so I'm good on that. Help me Bleeping Computer, you're my only hope.
