Sony Bravia LCD,

If I'm using the PC input on LCD, sound works great.
If I'm using an HDTV input on LCD, no sound.
Anybody got any ideas about this?
Would really like to use an HDTV input, picture definition is so much better in 1080i.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Realtek HD Audio, PC input yes/ HDTV input no

If you have an HDMI OUTPUT on your PC, on many you have to manually set the HDMI on the Video card as the default playback device, rather than the usual "speakers". Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound Panel and on the Playback you will probably have an icon for the HDMI, select that as the default playback device and you should get the PC audio in the HDMI signal.

This is a e-mail I sent to "[email protected]" and they refused to answer, at least 4 times. I wonder if any one else has had this problem?
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Dear Sir,
The problem I am having with your "Realtek HD Audio input" I can not get the microphone working, it shows it but it is grayed out. I have tried every thing I know to do. According to every thing I have read on the Internet a lot of people are having the same trouble. Can you help???????

I have Microsoft Windows XP Professional

A:Realtek HD Audio input

Hi Bill,
According to MSI's web page, that motherboard has an ALC883 audio chip.

These chips have what's known as "smart port sensing" for what is plugged into what port/jack. It does this by sensing various tidbits of what's plugged in (such as draw, amps, etc.etc.).

Usually, you can find a SoundMAX or Audio Console with the reference audio drivers, or the ones on MSI's website. With this tool, you will likely have to override the port/jack sensor's findings (likely no microphone or no audio input device) which should then allow windows to pick-up the mic.

Check your systray, start menu or control panel to see if you can find the RealTek (or MSI) audio panel/settings window. It's usually a big, colorful application with an Equalizer, some 3d sound demos and a tab with a row of jacks and little hammer icons. You'll have to click on the hammer for wherever you have your microphone connected and hardset-it to microphone (not line-in) to get it to work.. if it'll let you.

I just got a GIGABYTE GA-8I955X motherboard which has the Realtek HD Audio on board. The system its running on is:

P4D 3.0Ghz
256MB ASUS X800
2 x 250GB Seagate SATA
Win XP Pro SP2

The problem is, the mic input for some reason records softly. Ive plugged it in the rear and front jacks and it picks up a scream and records it as a whisper. In the Volume Control the Mic input sliders are greyed out so I cant adjust it in there. The mic works fine on any other PC.

Ive installed all the latest M/B drivers, BIOS, Realtek Drivers, etc from the respective websites to no avail. Another thing that happens is loading premiere pro causes the system to reboot you guessed it.. when it gets to loading the WAVE input DLL.

When I disable the audio, it loads fine.

The HD Audio input is selected in the media settings and the Hardware Test comes up ok. (Go Figure)

If Anyone has any ideas or has come across this before please let me know. I think the guys at Realtek are at a loss and haven't responded to my last email.

I'm looking to record both stereo mix and mic in at the same time, but separately. As it stands, this seems impossible. The damn sound manager won't even let me adjust individual volumes. I can record stereo mix, mic or both at the same time, but not separately. I'm sure other people have run into the same problem and I hope they've found a solution. I REALLY don't want to buy a new sound card just to get around this.

I have a self-assembled desktop PC - full specs in the signature below, but in short, it has an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor on a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P mainboard, which uses a Realtek Azalia ALC887 on-board sound system. I have no loudspeakers and listen to the computer sounds exclusively through a Microsoft LX-1000 headset. I also have a Logitech C270 HD webcam that has its own microphone. My PC has 16 GB RAM, a SSD and a large HDD. It runs Windows 8.1 Update 1 with all Windows updates (Patch Tuesday was this week, but my problems had started before that and I'm sure they're unrelated).

Everything is working fine, except the audio, which started behaving strangely a few days ago for no apparent reason. The problems started suddenly and I can't think of anything that could have caused them. There were no hardware changes or any intervention in the hardware, nor did I install any new software that could have messed up things.

When playing music, it sounds muffled, with the volume very low and the voice and several instruments muted, while other instruments in the background arrangement sound relatively louder. No graphic equalizer is on, and this happens with any player software (Windows Media Player, VLC, Media Player Classic, etc.), and any source (MP3 music, audio CDs, DVDs, videos, etc.). There appears to be no hardware problem with either my headset or the onboard audio: when I run both Windows' native and Realtek's driver sound output tests, the test tune comes out... Read more

There are a few threads on this issue, but none of them solved my problem. After refurbishing an ancient PC and re-installing Windows XP (because Win7 just wouldn't work on it) the input side of the Realtek HD Audio Manager refused to record. The slider controls on the input mixer were missing. After reading every forum post on the issue I could find, I explored all the settings in Device Manager, Sounds, and Realtek HD Audio Manager, including re-installing the driver several times, to no avail. "Download the latest driver" goes the mantra. But Realtek had worked fine before the abortive Windows 7 upgrade. I searched for "Realtek HD Audio Manager old version" and downloaded and installed an outdated driver (v2.2). Bingo! The sliders are there on the input mixer, and I can record again. I guess newer is not always better. Thought I would post in case it helps others.

A:Solved! Realtek HD Audio input problem

It would help if you posted what hardware you are using. It does little good to say you installed xxx driver when no one knows what you installed it on.

It is not common [however not unheard of either] for a newer driver to render old hardware either inop or just lose some features.

hi, i just recently ran into this problem. I am running windows XP sp3, and for some reason my realtek audio jack is not recognizing my plugged in headset. it had been working fine a month prior. Sometimes the headphones on my headset work, sometimes when they do, the sound only comes out of one ear. the same story for the mic part, only it rarely works and whenever i am in a voice chat, the person on the other line can hear my audio, but not my voice.
Please help as this is an issue that i have been looking to resolve for a almost a week.
Edit- I was ment to say that i BOUGHT the headset a month prior, and before that i used a standard mic which worked fine.

i cant record anything with Soundforge 9 because off echo.
before i could record for exemple music i made with fruityloops directly to soundforge 9 now it is impossible with the new mainboard and a realtek audio onboard device.
i choose "stereo mix" as source since it is the only possibility to record directly what goes through the soundcard but the sound is echoing and repeats itself.
on my old motherboard i managed to record my music that way now it is impossible.
i still can record youtube for exemples using the windows default recording thingy but since it is limited to 60sec that doesnt quite help me recording myself mixing.
anyone has an idea on how i could fix this so it works normaly again plz ?
plz dont direct me to sony froums, i went there allready and there is nearly no support.

I recently installed a logitech surround sound system(5 speakers and 1 subwoofer) and I have noticed that my line in isn't producing any sound when I try to play my guitar. I play my electric guitar through the rear line in jack using a program call guitar rig 4. My speakers are using the digital output on the back of my pc.
All together I am trying to play my electric guitar, using the rear line in jack with Guitar Rig 4, through my logitech surround sound using RealTek Audio HD Manager. The problem seems to be between the line in and the RealTek HD Audio Manager because the surround sound works fine with Guitar Rig 4 and any other sound but when i look at my line in volume in the volume mixer and i strum my guitar, the volume doesn't go up. Before installing my logitech system i had 2 normal speakers through which the guitar worked using the line in.
It seems as if the RealTek HD Audio Manager with digital input disables the line in even though I can change settings around on the line in.
Any suggestions? If there are any questions or any way I can make it clearer please tell me.

I just bought a Lenovo v570 laptop with vga and hdmi output and I cannot get the hdmi to output to my tv. The tv is a vizio 47" 3d LCD and the laptop is running windows 7 home 64bit. I have tried windows graphics drivers, lenovo drivers and intel drivers. To me there is not much difference between them but who knows. The laptop will output to tv using vga and it will connect to an LG 42 inch LCD at my work using hdmi, just not to the one I have at home. I have tried everything that I can think of as far as settings go and on my tv as well. Nothing changes whatever I do. Does anyone know of any hardware compatibility between some vizio tvs and windows 7? I have seen one on the compatibility website for windows but it was not my tv. Mine is not listed. The model number for my tv is E3D470VX. Not sure what else to try. Next I guess I will call Vizio to see if they can work out the problem. Lenovo support doesn't know. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks in advance.

I bought a Presario V6741US Notebook PC in June of 2008 with Windows xp. Everytime I try to record anything, the mics don't detect enough sound to make a decent recording. All the possible settings for mics are turned up all the way. I have the mic boost on, as well, to no avail. I know the mics themselves are not the problem. Neither are the speakers. For instance, I can make IM video calls with no problem. I can sit back and speak normally, and they hear me perfectly. However, when I try to send a voice clip, I get the warning, "your voice clip was not sent because no sound was detected in the recording." It only works if I put my mouth right up to the mic (chin on screen), and then it comes across quietly. I've used "total recorder / high criteria" to transfer recordings to my computer in WAV files, but they were so quiet, I can't turn the volume up loud enough to hear them properly. Recently I transfered some video tapes, via the "honestech VHS to DVD 3.0" with the same lousy sound results. I unistalled and reinstalled the Realtek drivers, but that didn't change a thing. I saw today that this problem has been shared by people at least as far back as 2006. Has anybody solved it?

I have a Compaq Presario SR2050NX and am having a difficult time getting the microphone and line-in jacks to be recognized by the system audio software. Neither the mic or line-in jacks in the rear or in the front can be controlled by the system software and as a result the mic level is very, very low to the point of not being useful. I need to find a way to enable "HD audio input front" and "HD audio input rear" on this machine.

This system uses the RealTek HD audio manager software and the on board sound is made up of the RealTek ALC888 chip working in partnership with the ATI SB450, from what I read on the MSI site. The motherboard is an MSI RC410-M Rev 1.1 (also known as MS-7173 I think).

When I go into the HD audio manager applet (either through the system tray or the control panel) or when I go into the Windows Control panel Sounds and work with the audio settings, the settings for controlling the line input or the microphone are greyed out. Per the help info on the computer I should be able to go into the RealTek HD Audio manager and select "HD audio input rear" as a source. I cannot. The only option is "line in/ Mic in"

I am running the latest drivers from the Realtek site (R1.51 release in Nov 2006), I know the mic I am plugging in is good. There are no conflicts shown in the Windows hardware devices window. I did a comp[lete uninstall, reboot and fresh install of the drivers.

I record the samples for my songs in soundforge (i.e. guitars), but record whilst also running a click track in Reason 3. This method has proved very succesful for me until i ditched my desktop and bought a brand new Maxdata Laptop, with an inbuilt RealTek soundcard. Ever since the switch my recording goes fine until for some reason, and at no certain point, the click track will "pop out" into the guitar sample and the guitar will go way down in volume or be lost altogether. Really having some wonk issues with these last two Lenovo products I've bought. It's nuts. Latest weird thing that's happening seems to be some sort of unintended input. Occasionally, I've had the focus repeatedly stolen from an input field I was typing in. I have to click on the field several times, only to have it taken away again, like the mouse is clicking elsewhere. (I've been having issues with clicking things accidentally firing double-clicks--maybe my mouse buttons are faulty? Both the X1E I returned and this X1C have done that.) The other strange thing that's happening is that in iTunes, if I pause my music, it will resume itself 5 seconds later, like the play button some keyboards have was pressed. But this keyboard doesn't even have that, as far as I can tell. It feels like my computer is inventing input. It's maddening.  Any clues? My opinion of Lenovo products has sharply dropped these last couple months.

Hi there @145755, I hope you find your Support Forum experience a positive one!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.  I understand that you have changed a setting on your computer and now the display is not working.  I am happy to give you a hand with this. Please post the full product number for your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.  HP Desktop PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number? I would suggest you try to start your computer in Safe mode to load basic screen settings. See this document: HP PCs - Windows Safe Mode (Windows 10, 8). As you are unable to see the display properly at this time you will need to follow the process described for "Entering Safe Mode without access to Startup Settings".  If you are able to get in, then make the needed adjustments to your display settings, then restart your system normally to see if the display will come up properly. If not try a different screen resolution. Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

I have a Dell D610 laptop w/ XP Pro SP2... or had.

I have a corrupted registry entry hosing the keyboard input. The mouse works fine up until the point when I kit the first key on the keyboard when under the Graphical Windows interface. After I hit any key, the mouse freezes as well. This happens if I use the laptop keyboard or an external keyboard connected to a PS2 jack.

I have performed hours of troubleshooting and it is not the keyboard hardware. Keyboard input works during all non-graphical UI (BIOS, Recovery Console, etc.). I even removed the drive and plugged it in to another computer. I made a copy of the WINNT\system32\config files (sam, default, security, system, software) and replaced them w/ a copy of these files from WINNT\repair. The computer boots to Graphical Windows and I am able to type in this session just fine.

How can I "erase" the keyboard driver corruption in the registry (or perhaps a corrupted driver file or set of files)? The problem is that I can't boot the system to a point where I can edit the "corrupted" keyboard entries. I can't use the Recovery Console because I don't have the Administrator password. So I tried to install SP3 from a bootable CD. The minute it asks me to type in the Product Key (a graphical dialog box), input is frozen a the first keystroke (even a key like Caps Lock). Can I actually edit the registry that resides on the boot drive while it is connected to another computer? Any other suggest... Read more

Sorry for the silly question, but I am really lost with Windows 8. Did a quick search, but nothing came up (Keyword will only result in how to set input in Win8, not the problem presented here).
Here is the issue.

The short version of the question is how do I move the #@#[email protected]%$#^%$ (display gibberish somehow, boxed in red below) input method above Microsoft Pinyin, while keeping English as my default Display language and Input language.
Longer version here:
I use English and Chinese input, but the default MS Chinese input is "inconvenient", so I installed another input software for Chinese input (the gibberish above, or lets call it method ABCD).
The order I want is English as my default Input method and display, while ABCD as my default Chinese input (when I hit Alt + Shift, should switch from English to ABCD). However, since I can't get ABCD above MS-PinYing, when I Alt+Shift it auto switch to MS-Pinyin, not ABCD (Manually switch from MS to ABCD gets annoying).
In WinXp/Win7 I only need to manually switch to ABCD once, and the system remembers it, but Win8 for some reason automotcally load the language list on every start up =/
Also in WinXp/Win7, I can delete MS-PinYin while keeping ABCD (so I only have English and ABCD), but Win8 doesn't allow me to do that as I must have MS-input or the second line (highlight in green) in language perference doesn't even appear.
There are some additional points/details.
1 - I must set Chinese as "Language for non-... Read more

Windows automatically updated last night before shutting down. When I turned on the computer this morning, the HP w2207h monitor was not functioning properly. Each time I rebooted, I received the message "HDMI Input: No Input Signal" before the monitor went to sleep.

I do not believe it is a problem with the sleep and display settings as I have dual monitors and the EN9910 is functioning properly; both are set to NEVER anyway. Further, I have plugged our SONY television into the HDMI port and it works just fine.

I have also plugged the monitor into another computer, using the same cable, and both worked just fine. The hp monitor also functions in the utility mode. Problem seems to exist only when Starting Windows.

This has happened once before with a Windows Update, but I don't recall the solution.

Please help.

But mate I also think you may have answered it yourself in another way. Can you remember when this started happening? If so system restore back to before that date.

Then it is just a matter of downloading any updates if this is what is - one or two at a time until you find which one is the culprit. Make a not of that one and each time it comes up untick it to download / install.

hi i have a Gigabyte H61M-S1 motherboard and i downloaded a sound driver from the manufacturers site but i cant seem to find how to add a digital output/input

A:add digital output/input in realtek alc888b/alc887

The only way to get digital would be to install a separate sound card that had digital I/O jacks. There are none on the motherboard. The other obvious option would be to use a different motherboard that has that. I don't recall any that has both digital input and output; many have a digital output but a digital input is rare. I have a recording studio and my recording interface has the S/PDIF input and outputs but that is a different application (and much higher cost).

Install and use a PCIe sound card, and disable the on-board audio in the BIOS so it does not conflict (Windows will only allow one default audio playback device).

I also can't figure out a setup that will let me use the active pen and my tablet at the same time; Huion and Wacom drivers don't seem to play nice with each other, so I can't have them both installed at once if I want either of them to be recognized in my software and have pressure sensitivity. I have turned off "tablet mode" in Settings, and in the Control Panel I've disabled "Flicks" and "press-and-hold to right-click". Regardless, using either the active pen or my tablet (which doesn't even interact with the touch screen) will make my computer react like I'm using my finger -- same visual feedback, press-and-hold still right-clicks, dragging with the pen will scroll around the webpage/canvas, etc. Depending on the software I'm using and which drivers are currently installed I can sometimes draw and get pressure sensitivity, but I'll still keep accidentally triggering touch commands with the pen that interrupt my work flow. Even if it's at the cost of touc... Has any one modified a Power Suply to Take 12 volt DC Input?

I would very much like to hear from you, or any one you may of heard of that has done this.

I wanted to Put a desktop case etc. in my car and use it to listen to music...

Thanks to anyone who replies...

A:DC Input Power Supply (12 volt input)

A standard Computer PSU rectifies the incoming mains (120 or 240 volt) and the "chops" it in a switchmode type power conversion.

Therefore as it starts with a high DC voltage (120 or 240 V AC rectified to DC) there is no easy conversion to make it use 12 V instead. Without a complete rebuild and redesign of the PSU.

By far the cheapest and easiest way is to use an off-the-shelf 12 V inverter that converts 12V to 120 or 240 V AC, and then you dont need to bother rebuilding the power supply from scratch.

Has the advantage of easily sourced power supply units for the PC. You would likely get away with a small 200 Watt unit.

I have an HP Pavilion A6421.uk computer with an HP w2007v monitor. (The OS is Windows Vista).I've been getting the message "VGA Input - No Input Signal" and the monitor appears to be in sleep mode permanently. I've checked all the connections, cables etc and I have also connected the monitor to an old computer, where it worked fine. I'm guessing I need a new graphics card but don't know how to go about changing it. I have
opened up the box and cleaned it all out, but am not sure what to do now.

Could I take out the graphics card from the old computer and put it in the new one? The old computer is a Dell Dimension 5000 (Windows XP).
Or would it be an option to swap hard drives? (I urgently need to access my work but the old computer got a virus and doesn't work properly).I don't know the first thing about hardware really, so wondered what any of you would recommend I do:
1. Just buy a new graphics card and replace the old one - in which case, what would I buy?
2. Put the graphics card from the old machine into the new one. How do I do this and does anyone have any diagrams?
3. Swap the hard drives so that I use the old box with the new monitor. (this is probably a stupid idea, but who knows).

Please help!!

This doesn't work. Very irritating.
(I don't know if this RealTek sticky at the top of this forum is a solve for this, I'm not hot on registry changes and I'm not sure if this is a fix for this issue.)

Firstly I have to turn off the front-panel detection in order for the front panel to be detected..?

Secondly, I can't get the speakers to mute when the front phones are plugged in. I can do a manual switch from one to the other, but the front panel won't detect when things are plugged in.

Is it fixable?

A:Realtek Mute Rear output when front input is plugged in

Sorry, but no. You will have a Realtek HD codec on board, and, like many others (myself included), are having to use an AC'97 front panel. These will work, but there are limitations like you have mentioned. The only way that you can have the speakers that are connected to the rear panel (the motherboard connectors) mute automatically when plugging headphones into the front panel is to have a HD compliant unit.

See AC'97 and HD audio front panel layouts for an explanation.

Dim piesky As Double

On Error GoTo Cancelled - On Error resume next
piesky = InputBox("amount to find", , 196.96)
onerror goto 0
If IsError(piesky) Then Exit Sub Else MsgBox 77
If IsNumeric(piesky) Then v = 1 Else Exit Sub
If piesky = "false" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = "" Then Exit Sub
If piesky = 0 Then Exit Sub

piesky is used to find row number

In blue is the code I tried. Nothing seems to work and if cancelled or blank entry gives an error

Why am I diming the input as Double? Cause nothing else works to find a $196.96 amount in a column
with my program except the double. Column is formatted to accountancy.

A:input box error when using double as input

Okay guys, found a solution, the best I could with my limited knowledge.

dim wonky as double
userinput=inputbox (" xxxxxxx")
if userinput="" then exit sub

this then finds sums in a col like 99.99 which if the input is normal or currency or whatever
does not work in my program. Perhaps there is another dim function that can be used
that does not require all the above

What can be done with USB Cable regarding PC? Is it worth it?

USB, even USB3 was never meant for transferring large amount of data needed for HD video, too much conversion has to be made. Laptops are limited by number and type of outputs but desktops can accommodate multiple video cards and even basic cards with Display port that use power of existing GPUs to provide video signal to more monitors or TVs.

Currently my computer recognizes that there are headphones connected to it(which I have tested on my phone) , the speaker symbol and playback devices shows that the volume is on and active; I have the Realtek driver and the HD Audio Codec; I have tried changing my default devices in "Playback Devices"; both Windows Audio and Multimedia Class Scheduler are on, and yet I have no sound.

On a side note, every time I reinstall the driver it won't detect my speakers until I set it to AC.97 and, unlike the indicator found in "Playback Devices" the volume mixer is inactive even when sounds should be playing.

I've also tried a system restore to before I installed the heat sink, which is before this occurred, and looking around for audio options in my BIOS (M5A78l-M LX Plus, v.1033) to no avail. The only thing I can think of is to format or somehow v.1034 of my BIOS would do anything even though it was released five months ago and I just got this problem... Please help and thank you in advance.

Also, I've already tried virus scanning and chkdisk, if that is at all relevant.

A:No audio... after changing heat sink? (on-board audio, input is ok)

If you have the RealTek audio and "HD Audio Codec" that usually indicates that along with the RealTek you also have the generic Windows installed HD Audio Codec audio sound driver. If that is the case there can be conflicts and the HD Audio Codec needs to be uninstalled so your RealTek can properly operate.

If this is what's happening, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the HD Audio Codec entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "uninstall". Restart the PC and check to see if the RealTek (and possibly an entry for HDMI audio if you have that) is the only entries in the Device Manager for Sound. The "Speakers" (RealTek) should be set as the default audio playback device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel Playback section.

I am currently trying to use both microphone and stereo mix at the same time without a sound card.

I would like to be able to both of the listed above in Windows XP SP3 but not entirely sure on what to do as I have literally hit a brick wall I have tried looking all over the net but no one seems to be able to answer this question.

I would greatly appreciate any/all help regarding this matter, a few people have stated you can use Stereo Mix and then somehow un-mute your microphone?

(The purpose of the above is because I am currently streaming and wish to use both sound and microphone at the same time)
(I am trying to accomplish this without having to spend out cash on a sound card and/or software)

I appreciate any help you guys/girls can provide,

A:Need help with Audio Input

If you have sound at all, you have a "sound card". It may be built into the board, but is still referred to as the "sound card" for all practical purposes.

So, that means that I'm not quite sure what the problem is that you're having. I'm assuming that it has something to do with using 5.1 sound as opposed to stereo, for example. In most cases, the enhanced output formats use the microphione jack as output for one of the speakers, disabling its ability to be used as a microphone (in which case settings related to the mic have no effect). If I'm close, you'll either have to use simple stereo (which should be fine from something streaming, anyway) or add another sound card for a mic setup.

Others who have done things like this more than I probably have other (and possibly better) answers.

My friend has a setup with his cable TV where the signal is split into audio and video, and the audio is sent to some kind of stereo system. He uses it for those music channels on cable (I don't know much about this, but I can find out more if necessary). What I'm trying to help him figure out is how to get this data into a PC instead of the stereo. I don't have any knowledge of the sort of connections involved for this, could it be as simple as connecting the audio cable to a sound card, or are they usually different kinds of data/cables? Any response is appreciated (even if it's just asking for specifics). Thanks!

Hey guys.I've been using Skype for about a month and it's worked great. But a week or so ago, my sound settings got messed up. Now when I call people, they hear my voice very softly but they can hear the sounds on my computer (for example music I'm playing). My computer sounds can be heard even when my mic is unplugged. This might have something to do with installing Audacity and changing the recording settings. My sound card says High Definition Audio, which I assume means built in.
