I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Cisco Systems has created a more efficient and targeted way for police and intelligence agencies to eavesdrop on people whose Internet service provider uses their company's routers.

The company recently published a proposal that describes how it plans to embed "lawful interception" capability into its products. Among the highlights: Eavesdropping "must be undetectable," and multiple police agencies conducting simultaneous wiretaps must not learn of one another. If an Internet provider uses encryption to preserve its customers' privacy and has access to the encryption keys, it must turn over the intercepted communications to police in a descrambled form.

Cisco's decision to begin offering "lawful interception" capability as an option to its customers could turn out to be either good or bad news for privacy.

Because Cisco's routers currently aren't designed to target an individual, it's easy for an Internet service provider (ISP) to comply with a police request today by turning over all the traffic that flows through a router or switch. Cisco's "lawful interception" capability thus might help limit the amount of data that gets scooped up in the process.

On the other hand, the argument that it hinders privacy goes like this: By making wiretapping more efficient, Cisco will permit governments in other countries--where court oversight of police eavesdropping is even more limited than in the United States--snoop on far m... Read more

A vulnerability in the firmware of the Cisco Small Business SPA 300 and 500 series IP phones could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to listen to the audio stream of an IP phone.
The vulnerability is due to improper authentication settings in the default configuration. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted XML request to the affected device. An exploit could allow the attacker to listen to a remote audio stream or make phone calls remotely.
Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability; however, software updates are not available.

A:Cisco IP Phones Vulnerable To Remote Eavesdropping

We are currently deploying CISCO IP phones across all of our stores. I'll try to see what model we are using. If it's one of these models, I'll report it to someone in the project so they can monitor that. However, I'm sure we don't keep the default configuration so maybe it's nothing.

Sorry for my sudden disappearance. But just a quick one.

Recently when I messed up and searched for 'google' in Google, the latest news was a bunch of, well, suspections about Chrome.

Anyway, after reading some articles I'm starting to think this is true. I hope it isn't, but weird things has happened such as camera sometimes on and trying to access Firefox passwords.
I am not forcing you, you don't have to, but I feel extremely insecure with Chrome right now. I'm not a professional at all, but yet again. Its my opinion. And as that, I am getting rid of all instance of Chrome.

I just wanted to notify you all :]

So far it just looks like another "he said, she said" so the truth will probably be hard to get from all that.

Hello

One of the nurses at the dialysis center gave me her old computer after the HD died--I have a HD to put into it. Originally the computer (Gateway) had WinME on it, I am hoping to put Win98 and WinXP on.

The video card is integrated into the motherboard, but has an AGP slot as well. I couldn't seem to get the on-board video to work with Win98, so I bought a Radeon 8500LE to put in the slot.

Ok, what's the trick to getting the card to work? As far as I can tell, there isn't any way to disable the on-board video in BIOS. And as far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any jumpers to switch.

I figured that the new video card would just work, but with the card installed I don't have video out of either the card or the onboard video.

Any ideas guys? Here's the link to the support page for the motherboard: http://support.gateway.com/s//MOTHERBD/MSI/2514354/2514354nv.shtml

Thanks.

I'd bet that it's malware, probably from a malicious video codec that you were told you needed but really didn't need because it was bogus in the first place.

I suggest you run your anti-virus if you haven't already, download Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download and SuperAntiSpyware (SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!) and scan for infections. If they don't find anything, download ComboFix.

I also recommend Microsoft Security Essentials an as anti-virus. (www.microsoft.com/security_essentials)

Web Photos That Reveal Secrets, Like Where You Live

Quote:
When Adam Savage, host of the popular science program ?MythBusters,? posted a picture on Twitter of his automobile parked in front of his house, he let his fans know much more than that he drove a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Embedded in the image was a geotag, a bit of data providing the longitude and latitude of where the photo was taken. Hence, he revealed exactly where he lived. And since the accompanying text was ?Now it?s off to work,? potential thieves knew he would not be at home.
Security experts and privacy advocates have recently begun warning about the potential dangers of geotags, which are embedded in photos and videos taken with GPS-equipped smartphones and digital cameras. Because the location data is not visible to the casual viewer, the concern is that many people may not realize it is there; and they could be compromising their privacy, if not their safety, when they post geotagged media online.
Mr. Savage said he knew about geotags. (He should, as host of a show popular with technology followers.) But he said he had neglected to disable the function on his iPhone before taking the picture and uploading it to Twitter.
?I guess it was a lack of concern because I?m not nearly famous enough to be stalked,? he said, ?and if I am, I want a raise.?

First, the computer...

HP a530n Desktop

GeForce FX5200 128 MB Graphics card
Athlon XP 3200 processor
Windows XP Home
1024x768 resolution
EPI Envision EN-980e 19-inch CRT monitor

The problem; Chamber of Secrets is only allowing me to use a resolution of roughly 500x300 (don't remember the exact number),

I can run the game, but it looks awful with the resolution that low. I went to the graphics options menu in the game, to change it, and the dropdown menu won't offer me any other resolutions. On my daughter's older computer, it gives her the option to change the game resolution, so I'm confused as to why it would be a problem on a 3-month-old computer; especially considering that the system requirements for CoS aren't very high (my computer exceeds all of them). I haven't had a single problem playing two other Harry Potter games by the same company; Sorcerer's Stone and Prisoner of Azkaban.

I've downloaded all drivers I can find for my desktop, for the graphics card and for the monitor, and checked for patches to the game itself (didn't find any). I'm also running the latest version of DirectX.

Any ideas? It's driving me nuts that this computer will run games like Unreal Tournament and Doom without a single hitch, but I can't get a kid's game to work on it, LOL!

QinetiQ’s espionage expertise didn’t keep Chinese cyber- spies from outwitting the company. In a three-year operation, hackers linked to China’s military infiltrated QinetiQ’s computers and compromised most if not all of the company’s research. At one point, they logged into the company’s network by taking advantage of a security flaw identified months earlier and never fixed.

“We found traces of the intruders in many of their divisions and across most of their product lines,” said Christopher Day, until February a senior vice president for Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ)’s Terremark security division, which was hired twice by QinetiQ to investigate the break-ins. “There was virtually no place we looked where we didn’t find them.”

I'm running windows XP. Got hit with Seneka and Vundo. I seemed to have cleaned out most of the problems except for this big one: I can't access my E: or G: drives. When i try to open them in "My Computer", i get the following error message: E:\ is not accessible. The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded. What I've done so far: I followed the instructions in http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/177711/maximum-number-of-secrets-exceeded/ .I cleaned them out repeatedly with 1) AVG, 2) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, 3)ATF Cleaner and 4) SuperAnti-Spyware. The programs indicate everything is cleaned out but I still have the following issues:1) the abovementioned error: The maximum number of secrets exceeded.2) Seneka keeps reappearing upon reboot.3) System Restore is not able to create a restore point. The error message says: "Please restart the computer, and then run System Restore again", however restarting doesnot fix the problem. I'm including the logs from 1) DDS, 2)Malwarebytes Anti-Malware(the first scan and the latest scan) and 3)SUPERAntiSpywareI hope someone can help. First and formost, thank you all so much for devoting your time and efforts to us all with our computer issues.
To whomever may be reading this:Please I ask for your patience as I am trying to be as exhaustive as possible with my details.I could have,in the time it has taken me to post alone, completely reinstalled windows but i am trying desperately to save my files.
This is my second attempt at posting now....crashed half way through the first time ...GRRRR....!!!
Fingers and toes Crossed... ...so here goes:

Original error only ever appeared once as follows while attempting to open Falsh drive E:

"E:\Videos is not accesible. The maximum amount of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded"

The flash drives appears in device manager on both USB ports, however it reports "Unreadable" while attempting to populate the drive. This drive reads and is accesible without issue on other computers.
The USB ports in question however, has no issues with any other hardware connected(Webcam,Wireless USB adapter,Joystick, and Cell Phone). All appear in device manager and have no issues at all.Strangely I can access the microSD card in my phone through Bitpim. This is NOT the Falsh drive in question though.

System restore will open up,but after chosing my restore point, clicking next on the last screen results in no action or error message what so ever.Attempts to create a restore point(done for assessment)will result in:

HI. I'll just ask if you know this error message:

"The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded"

A:The maximum number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded

Hello although I can not tell you what that error means exactly. Research deems it to be the fault of a recently installed application. Some were illegal others were not. They went from DVD players to webroot. Ergo. You should look at what you recently installed and remove it and reboot. See if it occurs then either reinstall as it may have been a faulty install or leave it off.

I am confused to decide which is better Samsung galaxy s4 or htc one or iphone 5 or xperia z

things want to consider first thing battery backup, then resolution then camera of course which has the best look

read several reviews and so confused please help

A:Which is the best smartphone to buy?

The Galaxy S4 is basically equivalent to the HTC One. The HTC One though, has a better camera and has an aluminum shell. The S4 has a more mediocre camera and a plastic shell (cheaper build quality). They both have basically the same screen. I own an iPhone 5 and love it. The OS is just becoming stale though, and Android (on the S4 and HTC One) is more for power users. iOS (iPhone) is geared more toward rookies who dont know what they are doing since it is so simple. I would take the Xperia Z off of your list since it doesnt match up.

Check out TechSpots' reviews on all three phones:
Galaxy S4: http://www.techspot.com/review/664-samsung-galaxy-s4/
HTC One: http://www.techspot.com/products/smartphones/htc-one.87473/ (I cannot find a full review on TS and posting another sites review would be considered kind of bias)
iPhone 5: http://www.techspot.com/review/579-apple-iphone-5/

I don't have a SIM card in it because I don't intend to ever use it as a phone, but I would like to be able to download some apps to this device. Thought I could use WiFi to do so but the device will not connect. Does anyone have any tips on how to best achieve what I am trying to do?

I have recently gotten a new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. I've never had one before. So, I'm trying to figure out how to use it so that I don't accidentally get charge for something not necessarily bad as much as like "accidentally banging your finger with a hammer". Right now, it appears to automatically access the Wi-Fi when it's in range and I'm installing free apps. Will I need to keep an eye on that so that it doesn't download apps (or additional app data) via a cell tower? (I did find a setting called "Wi-Fi Calling Settings" under which I can select Wi-Fi Prefered, Wi-Fi Only, Cellular Prefered.) There's, also, a gps on mine. I've found Google Maps, Google Latitude, Navigation, and TeleNav GPS Navigating that can use the gps in one way or another. How far into those programs can I use the gps before I start getting charged for data usage? Is there anything else I need to be careful of so that I don't end up surprised at the end of the billing cycle?

I am replacing my smartphone and need to sync them both together to be able to copy the photos, phone numbers etc. from one smartphone to the other. How do I do this? The makes of each of the two smartphones are Ideos.

Can it be done easily or does it involve sophisticated software?

A:Syncing smartphone

Are these Android phones? If so, your contact info should be synced to your Gmail account. Log into the new phone with the same account and that should be copied over. To move pictures, you'll need to upload them to a service or connect your phone to your computer and copy them over.

If the pictures are important, you should have a backup anyway. A smartphone is just a pocket-sized computer. It can crash, fail, etc. and has the added bonus of being easily lost or dropped.
