I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi As an adminstrator, in a Command Prompt Window, typegetmacThis will list MAC addresses for those items that are present, and may not be connected.A good number would be 3,1 x Ethernet1 x Wi-Fi1 x Bluetoothand then typeipconfigand in the long list look for named devices have a matching MAC address.Along with Device manager this is a way to determine the number of devices. If in doubt please ask.

Hi, all.
I have a desktop and a Compaq laptop both using Windows XP Pro SP3. I would like to connect them both using Bluetooth so I can transfer files between them. I don't care about sharing the internet connection. I hoped to buy an Ethernet crossover cable but I couldn't find any, and I've been using a USB stick to very, very slowly transfer files across.
I turned discovery on on both the PCs and used both to try and find the other to "add a device", and they do; and also turned "allow Bluetooth devices to connect" on, as well, but they are unable to connect for whatever reason. I tried using a custom key and letting it choose one for me but neither worked. As clever as Microsoft is it doesn't tell me what the actual problem is. All it says is there isn't any more information about it. I also don't want to not use a passkey.
Again I don't need to share the internet connection, merely transfer files between them. I also tried with a small test file and it saw the other PC but then chose to fail. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi all! I have problems when i try to transfer files between my PC and other devices (mobile phones, PC's) via bluetooth.

I can send files normally but i cannot receive them. When I try to receive, the connection just fails. Do you have any idea what might be the problem and how to solve it? Could it be something to do with serial ports? At the moment I am using different serial ports for sending and receiving (COM23 and COM24). How can I change the serial ports so that they would the same for sending and receiving..?
Or has it anything to do with serial ports?

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and my bluetooth device is Generic Bluetooth Radio manifactured by Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd.

hello all.

Ive been having trouble with my bluetooth connection. Whenever i attempt to double click my phone icon in the devices menu to view its bluetooth connection options, i get a message saying:

"an error occurred when initializing this operation. Try restarting your computer and/or the Bluetooth device. "

so, what i see so far:

-the phone successfully pairs with my computer
-each device can see each other

but they cannot interact.

the phone however will connect and interact with other bluetooth devices.

ive double checked many times, my drivers are all there and up to date.
(also used driver genius to check this)

also, whenever i start my computer, i always get the message: "ERROR: unable to start bluetooth stack service"

any ideas what's going on here?

thanks.

my system specs:

Sounds like an error with the bluetooth stack and or drivers... check Dells website for the latest versions.

I love my Sony DR-BT101 bluetooth headset. It would connect fine with my PC and worked beautifully. Unexpectedly, it suddenly stopped connecting and every time I tried to pair nothing would happen. I've been able to add the device, so the PC recognizes it. However, it won't connect with the PC and the device does not show up as an option in the playback tab in the sounds menu.

So, I tried following this link:

http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-networking/24580-make-your-bluetooth-devices-work-windows-7-a.html

Still nothing. I'm not even sure what the Mobile Device Center is meant to do as the headset is not a mobile device like a handheld. It said I should see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device' - which never was listed.

My headset is not on low battery, and has never had connection issues in the past, or even problems with playback. I haven't messed with any of the PC's services or changed anything on my adapter.

If someone could help me out that would be great, or share similar attempts to solve this problem.

I have a pair of August MS515 connected which work only intermittently and which seem to require me to restart me machine several times before they will finally work. I've uninstalled several times, basically done everything I can. The manufacturers tell me that Dell is particularly bad for supporting their equipment and that I need to install the latest (Radio) drivers to make sure that the connection works all the time. At the moment the speakers are both visibly paired and indeed reporting as connected via bluetooth but there's no sound and I can't get them to Connect when I right click on the sound icon. SO the only speakers showing as connected are the default laptop's. Any idea what I need to download and update form the Dell website? They, of course, disown me as I reuse to buy a new laptop from them and think it;s weird that I have one which is 6 years old. I've tried downloading the WLAN Radio Switch but that stops and I also can't get the DellRctlService to start or run,. Si I suppose I'm stuffed, unless someone brighter can point me in the right direction!

Hey all,

I have a Windows 7 32bit Enterprise.
I bought a bluetooth speaker Anker SoundCore this week, but it won´t connect. I installed the drivers needed, but when I click on "estblish connection", nothing would happen.

I tried reinstalling the drivers, my speaker as well as the computer are both visible, all bluetooth processes start automatically.
My computer connects normally to my old phone, but when I try to connect to my new phone and to play music via it´s speaker, it wouldn´t work as well, so I guess that computer is the problem.

Can someone help me, please?

Hi, I recently got this new WLAN Bluetooth Combo Adapter so that I could have the option to use bluetooth devices with my laptop. I'd connect my Sony MDR-XB950BT bluetooth headset and use it to talk to friends on Skype. When I look in my sound devices, there are normally two devices my headset connects with: "Headphones" and "Headset". The headset option is what lets me use my mic. However, now "Headset" displays as "Disconnected" and right-clicking then pressing "Connect" doesn't help. When I unpair then re-pair the device, it takes forever to download it's drivers, then I see that there is no "Headset" option in my sound devices at all! It reappears upon restart, but again as "Disconnected". Also, now when I connect my headphones, the "Headphones" option also displays as "Disconnected", but unlike the "Headset" option I am able to right-click and press connect and it will then connect. All my drivers are up-to-date and when searching for my new WLAN Bluetooth adapter I was told by an HP expert (who was a great help by the way) that this one was indeed compatible with my laptop model. It worked at first, but now I'm having these issues. There is no answer anywhere online that works for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi: I see that your notebook originally came with W8 from the factory, so that means that you upgraded to W10. I also see that there are no W10 bluetooth drivers for the model wireless card your notebook has on the support page. Accordingly, the only suggestion I can offer (assuming you have not done so already), would be to install the W10 bluetooth driver for the Ralink/Mediatek bluetooth radio your notebook has.... 11.0.761.0 Rev.A  Jun 18, 2015 This package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek Bluetooth in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71572.exe Restart the PC after installing the above driver and then try connecting via bluetooth.

I have a a Dell Latitude E7450, running W7 Pro (64 bit). I recently bought an August EP650 bluetooth headset and tried to connect. It does not. It is recognised in 'Devices and printers' and drivers are installed and when I go to 'Sound' I can see it, but it is disconnected and nothing can make it connect.
I searched the internet for 2 days and tried various things. I understand I have to go to 'Device and printers' -> right click and select 'Service' and click on 'Listen to music' or 'Forward VoIP to Handsfree'. I click on 'Listen to music' - nothing happens. No message, just nothing. I checked 'Properties' -> 'Services' and 'Headset' is selected as a Bluetooth Service. I tried everything suggested on forums.
I went to Dell drivers and could see a new bluetooth driver issued on 01.08.17. Downloaded and installed it. The fun started then as the headset would not install correctly, I hade like 15 issues with 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'. Nothing I did installed the correct drivers for 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'.
I gave up and called Dell, but they see it as a software issue (yeah! their software!!!) and want to charge me the earth for helping me with no guarantees.
I found the restore point and rolled back to before I installed the new drivers. Device manager is now not complaining, but still nothing works.
BTW - the headset connects to my mobile no problem. So ... Read more

A:Passcode of device when connecting via Bluetooth,

If you read the link it mentions:Double click the device you want to connect to and wait while a connection is established. You will be presented with a passcode that you must either verify as being the same on the other device (most likely if you are connecting to another computer), or enter the code on the device you are connecting to (most likely in case you are connecting to a phone).

The directions look easy enough but I personally haven't had a chance to work with Bluetooth so I can't test this out myself.

Hi there,
Im a newbie so hope i post this right.
Ok just for background information
I got a new bluetooth mouse,
Paired it to my laptop, it connected and worked fine. I left the laptop for about 15 minutes oly to come back to the mouse not working. I suspect it had put it self into sleep mode.
So i re-paired the mouse and i got the first BSOD.
I restarted, re connected and it worked fine.
The next day i reconnected again it was fine.. and then another BSOD.
Now whenever i connect it i get a BSOD automatically.
So i can delete the mouse, re find it, add it and BSOD
After restart if the mouse is on BSOD
if off, i turn it on, i get a BSOD.
Iv updated the drivers off the dell site. reinstalled driver, upgraded to SP2,
Last time i tried again, i managed to pair the mouse, but it didnt work.
going to the properties of the mouse, and then services the HID mouse driver was not selected, as soon as i select it i get the BSOD.
I therefore cannot use the mouse
Iv deleted all drivers (bluetooth and mouse) and restarted, iv tried updating. Iv also tried the mouse on a different laptop that is using a generic bluetooth dongle, it workes fine, and even now it can pair automatically to it and jus work, that laptop is XP SP3.

iv attached the TSF thing that i assume contains info on the BSOD.

bthport.sys seems to be causing the most issues. Here's a link to a KB article that describes something similar: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929577

Interestingly, the debugger can't locate symbols for this driver (even though it's a Microsoft driver) - so I wonder about it's compatibility with your system.

Also noted an issue with ctclsflt.sys - a Creative video filter

I ran an analysis of the last 20 minidump files - and all of them point at the bthport.sys driver

I'd suggest checking your system for the appropriate bthport.sys driver by using the above article. If you do not have that version, then I'd suggest getting the hotfix that is mentioned.

Another possibility is that there's an issue with your USB controller. Have a look at this article to see if it may apply (even thought it's slanted towards Microsoft Devices and XP): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315973

Can you try the bluetooth dongle on the other system? This'll help to rule out problems with it.

However when I put the headphones in pairing mode absolutely nothing happens on the windows side of things. Any ideas/suggestions/help would be really appreciated.

Other details:
-the bluetooth usb adapter didn't come with a disc/manual, it was all alone
-the first time I plugged it in windows installed some drivers but nothing that seemed to be related to audio
-this program (MotioninJoy | Playstation 3|Xbox 360|Dualshock 3|Sixaxis|Game|Driver|) which allows for wireless ps3 controller connectivity via bluetooth installed a driver and so I am able to use my controller, wirelessly. So I know the adapter isn't completely broken

Hello,I own a stock x220 with an i7.I would like to use the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth mouse. Apparently that mouse uses bluetooth 4.0, which my laptop does not have (2.1 i believe but i am not sure and don't know how to check either). Will I be able to connect and use that mouse? Thank you

Solved!

Go to Solution.

A:X220: connecting a bluetooth 4.0 mouse

Hello,
According to the X220's hardware maintenance manual, the ThinkPad X220 contains a Bluetooth Daughter Card BDC-2.1, with FRU# (part#) of 60Y3271 or 60Y3275.  Searching on those FRU numbers reveals this page on the independent ThinkWiki site which says those cards are Bluetooth 3.0.  It also mentions that the part is likely to be swappable with a new Bluetooth 4.0 BDC card.

From looking at the details [age for the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse, it mentions Bluetooth Smart/Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility and specifically says "Bluetooth 4. enabled devices" in the System Requirements.

It is still possible that the mouse will work with the older Bluetooth 3.0 card, but just consume more power.  Or, you may need to replace the Bluetooth Daughter Card inside the X220 or use an external Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter with it.  It would probably be best to check with Microsoft for an authoritative answer.

Hi,I bought a Microsoft Designer Mouse and Keyboard combo, and, while the keyboard is nicley connected, the mouse will not.I?m guessing that for some unknown reason ? the Intel Bluetooth chip in the X250 ?decides? to use a ?low-energy Driver? for that mouse ???But it should not be so?.The mouse does indeed ?pair?, but the correct driver does not ?match up? with the mouse ?And so, it does not respond. I tried several versions of the Intel Bluetooth driver ? up to and including the very latest from Intel ?But, still, the mouse will not work. HELP!!!ThanksRon

I have connected my ipod touch 4g to my new windows 8 laptop via bluetooth. it
shows up in both the ipod and in the windows settings as being connected.
however, once connected, i am unable to do anything with the connection. There
is no Windows tile showing the ipod, no obvious options in the ipod for how I
can do anything with the connection, nothing. What am I supposed to be able to
do once I have connected them via bluetooth? Is there a step I'm missing? I've
read you can stream podcasts to the computer, for example, but there's supposed
to be a windows tile showing the ipod which I'm definitely not getting either in
the start menu or when i search.

Ok done a search of my keyboard problem and not found thesame as mine. I am using a Sony Vaio 24inch touch screen all in one pc Model number SVL24115FGB the keyboard Model isVGP-WKB12 – same model as the one in the link below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Wireless-Keyboard-VGP-WKB12-Sony-SVL241-series-desktop-p-n-149037921-/290934544696

After five months of use the keyboard space bar was notworking on one side, so I rang Sony up and they said to bring it in, they sentme a replacement keyboard and I followed the instructions to a tee as toconnecting it to my pc but to no avail.

· Checked that drivers where up to date and theyare (so it says)

· Typed in model number to download drivers forthe keyboard (just in case windows was lying to me) but its saying model is nolonger available (from Sony site – for both pc and keyboard)

· Checked to see that the blue tooth devices wherelisted on my computer as up till I sent the keyboard away all had been workingas regards to connection - nothing was listed there?

· Went to add a device (manually) this did notwork despite keyboard been detectable (according to instructions)

· Went to check that battery’s where charged fullybefore I put them in (suggested cause as to why they sometimes don’t connect oninstructions – put batteries in charger over night till I got a green light as Ihad not used them for a while, and tried again, still not working)

The pc still has the 64 bit Windows 7 Home premium OS on it,that came with it,... Read more

Hello! I recently bought a Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse. It's pretty good so far, but I've been annoyed by the fact that it's Bluetooth. This might make it handy when connecting to a laptop but that also means that I have to pair the device again every time I use it in another computer.

I am looking for a way to connect the mouse without going to settings then unpairing and pairing again the device. Could all that be done by a shortcut in the desktop (so I could assign it to one of my keyboard's macros)? Or just a faster way to connect again (through some type of utility perhaps).

Android is a good example of this. I put the mouse in pairing mode and the click on the mouse in the Bluetooth settings. No unpairing and pairing again. Really fast as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I've discovered that when i'm connecting the HP Z5000 Mouse to the laptop, the internet connection would start dropping. How it happens:I connect the mouse via bluetooth (paired device) and the mouse works and so does the internet;I restart the laptop without disconnecting the mouse and it restarts with no issues, the mouse works and i have internet connection however, the pages would just fail to load. Either the browser would just load the page, or a message would appear "Could not reach this site". This happens when using bot Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. I disconnect the mouse and the internet is working again, pages load and there are no intreruptions. I used HP Network check whitout the mouse connected and it showed "No issues found" i connect the mouse and run network check again and still no issues found. I restart the laptop with the mouse connected and run HP network check again and again, no issues found.  I have downloaded the latest updates from HP Support assistant and also have the latest Windows 10 updates. Also the Wi Fi icon shows no notifications, the signal is always showing properly, and the status is "Connected, secured" I have uninstalled the Bluetooth driver and re-installed manually from the HP Support web site and also i have tried a BIOS crisis recovery but it made no difference; The problem with this is that i get no notifications or any errors that i could work with to know what causes the timeout... A:Dell XPS 13 (9350) Bluetooth Connecting Problem

You may want to keep in mind the Wi-Fi can have an effect on Bluetooth.  We also need some basic info about your system.  If yo use the rich formatting for a reply you can attach snipping tool pictures.
In Device Manager you should show your Bluetooth device plus a couple of Microsoft entries.  If your headsets/speakers also show that is good.  No Unknown devices anywhere in Device Manager or yellow triangles on any Bluetooth components?
Do you know the Bluetooth version of your devices?
You seem to imply pairing the device does not work well.  Can you tell us what is happening and what tones you might be getting from the devices?  Are you able to get them in the pairing mode and your see on the Settings-Devices-Bluetooth page the system loading the drivers?
When you try to connect, do you just power on your devices and not put them in the pairing mode?  Any option showing up for connecting them.  The first time you connect, you may have to allow it but devices seem to operate differently and may not need certain steps.
What Wi-Fi card do you have?
