GeForce IRQ Assignment

Q: GeForce IRQ Assignment

Replaced Geforce2 MX (32MB) with Geforce2 Ultra (64MB DDR). Card is made by VisonTek. Manual advises IRQ 11 as preferable. BIOS set to automatically select. Card was assigned IRQ 10, not shared. IRQ 11 is Ethernet card. Question: Is assignment of IRQ 11 to video card important enough to reconfigure BIOS manually? Does it make a difference in performance, or is it fine as long as it is not sharing the IRQ? Also, in Control Panel, under System>Performance, System Resources is only around 75-80 percent. After restart, will go up to only about 86 percent. I would have thought that a new video card, with more (and more efficient) onboard memory would have used less resources, not more. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello again all,

As I was messing around at hp.com, I have found many various customizable laptops that I found online. However, it all boils down to the graphics card. I have a choice between 6150, 7200, and 7400. Now which one should I chose and how different are the performance between each card? I need help asap as college is starting soon and I want to get one as soon as possible.

A:Geforce Go 6150 or Geforce Go 7200 or Geforce Go 7400

The 7400 is the best option, since it's fastest, but you may not need a faster video card if you don't do activities that require a fast video card. This link may be helpful.

I am currently studying C# and received a practice assignment for this:

Write a program for a teacher.The program should have an array that can hold the
test scores for 30 students.The program can randomly assign grades from 1 to 100 .
Determine the average score for the class.

This is what I came up with:

using System;
class Aprog{
public static void Main(){
int[] grade= new int[31];
int ctr;
System.Random rnd=new System.Random();
for(ctr=0;ctr<31;ctr++){
grade[ctr]=rnd.Next(0,101);
Console.WriteLine("Student{0}, Grade:{1}",ctr,grade[ctr]);
if(grade[ctr]>0 && grade[ctr]<50){
Console.WriteLine("F");
}
else if(grade[ctr]>50 && grade[ctr]<60){
Console.WriteLine("D");
}
else if(grade[ctr]>60 && grade[ctr]<70){
Console.WriteLine("C");
}
else if(grade[ctr]>70 && grade[ctr]<80){
Console.WriteLine("B");
}
else{
Console.WriteLine("A");
}
}
}
}

It works but some how it does not feel right or kind off sloppy. Does anyone know of a better way to create this application?

Hi gfxrelay,

Never refrain from using methods to make the coding more readable :

Code:

System.Random rnd=new System.Random();
for(ctr=0;ctr<31;ctr++){
grade[ctr]=rnd.Next(0,101);
Console.WriteLine("Student{0}, Grade:{1}",ctr,grade[ctr]);
Console.WriteLine(getLevel(grade[ctr]));
}
}

private static string getLevel(int grade) {
if (grade >= 80) return "A";
if (grade >= 70) return "B";
if (grade >= 60) return "C";
if (grade >= 50) return "D";

You can use the buttons that are along the top in the editing mode to make those codes automatically. Or you can use something like the free version of PhraseExpress to type any phrases you like with key combos.

I really have to finish my computer assignment and I am confused at few questions.

1) Say Computer A has a 1GHz processor and 16-but word size. Computer B has a 2GHz processor and 32-bit word size. Compare the processing speeds of these computers quantitatively. Show calculations.

2) Conversion from true-color graphic to black and white. Explain what the conversion did in terms of pixel bytes or bits.

3) If you run the CPU simulator program, you will find that it uses the system bus 12 times. Explain how this number comes about. (You must explain why based on how cpu operates. This will involve a little arithmetic. Show all).

The last questions I believe uses the concept of

1) Fetch
2) Decode
3) Execute
4) Store.

The status code is "R" for a resident, "Q" for the end-of-data-signal, and any other character for a non-resident. A:using second hdd for class assignment....

I'm not sure if your plan would work. You have an OEM disk and they activate a bit differently than a retail disk. Maybe activation can be ignored temporarily as with a retail disk.

But you can certainly download an ISO of Win 7 from mydigitallife.info, burn it to a disc, install from it, and run it for 30 days without activation.

Given an IP address range, select the correct subnet mask for the scenario. IP address: 200.4.82.0/24 You need to create 6 networks with a minimum of 28 hosts per network. What is the correct subnet mask and the 3rd subnet range?

This is the answer I came up with. I just need to know if I'm on the right track...

225.225.225.0 - 255.255.255.224
200.4.82.64 - 200.4.82.95

Thank you in advance,

A:Help with subnetting assignment.

Welcome

You are correct with the subnet mask. The netmask of 255.255.255.224 will give you 30 hosts minus 2 for network and broadcasting address. So your networks would be 200.4.82.0, 200.4.82.32, and 200.4.82.64.

How did you come up with the subnet mask?

Hi!

I have an assignment I have to finish until the end of this month and I wanted to ask around for some help in the form of feedback and suggestions. I have to do a suite of apps that belong together and share a common theme and setting.

I did a few utility apps for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone (7 and upwards). Could you maybe have a look at them and tell me if you have the feeling whether they belong together? If you have any suggestions on how I could improve them please feel free to share them with me. Here are the apps I did so far:

Windows 8:

Modern Stopwatch (Link)
Modern Timer (Link)
Modern Converter (Link)

Windows Phone:

If you could provide me with any feedback it would be great! The apps are of course free and have no ads in them, so I don’t get any money from them! All I want is that I deliver a good suite =)

Thanks very much!

I'm going to add another IP Camera.

The manufacturer's search tool shows the new (and exisiting) camera but indicates that my PC is not on the same subnet mask. After a quick "CMD--> ipconfig" search, I see that my wireless PC is on subnet mask 255.255.252.0 while all other devices are on 255.255.255.0

Keep in mind that I have ATT Uverse with a gateway that serves as a router. All other devices (wired or not) are on 255.255.255.0. If I hard wire the PC to the router, I am assigned a 255.255.255.0 subnet. If I unplug the Ethernet cable, the PC recognizes this lost network connection and goes to wireless where I'm assigned the 255.255.252.0 subnet and therefore not able to connect with my ipcamera's, NAS drive, etc.

While on wireless, Ive tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, nothing happens (still assigned 255.255.252.0).

I've confirmed in the in the network connections tab that TCP/IPv4 is setup to
-Obtain an IP address automatically
-Obtain DNS server address automatically

I don't know what the problem could be. Im not sure why I'm being assigned a subnet outside of the normal 255.255.255.0. What can I do?

i've just bought a microsoft wireless desktop 1000 mouse and keyboard package, and while the mouse works perfectly well, i can't seem to get the keyboard in order. for a start, i get the 'no keyboard detected' error message during the boot sequence; then, when i boot up having plugged in my old PS/2 keyboard instead (then unplugged it obviously), i find that only the 'start', 'alt' and one or two other keys work on the new wireless keyboard....why would that be?!

naturally i want the new keyboard to occupy the IRQ1 slot, but xp (sp3) doesn't allow you to manually reassign....even if i try reinstalling the new keyboard, no luck. it's not even as if i have a lot of peripherals installed to take up all my IRQ addresses. is there some way i can tell my bios to accept a wireless usb input device as the default keyboard, and hence give it the IRQ1 slot?

of course the keyboard manual and microsoft online help are no use - i can't even find any descriptions of the same problem on this and other forums. does anyone have any advice how i can get the new keyboard working? or just any suggestion to keep me occupied rather than tearing my hair out? infinity thankyou's in advance!

I've got an issue that I wouldn't think is as unique as it seems to be, due to my lack of being able to find information on it.

When I am at home, I have access to the control of my router (Linksys WRT54G) which I use the wifi on to connect my laptop to the internet. When I am not at home, I often do not have access to the router at which I am connecting, and I do use my laptop away from home quite frequently (work, friends' houses, etc).

The question I am looking to find is a way to automatically have my computer set up for DMZ while at home, either as a setting through the router, as a script to be run on my computer, or as a setting in windows. However, the difficult part is that when I am connected to any network other than my home network, I would like to revent to a Dynamic IP address assigned by the DHCP server in the router.

Having the router automatically assign a specific IP to my MAC address would seem to be the easiest way, but I'm not sure if mine can do that or not.

Other pertinent information:

Current system - Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (multiboot to Vista Beta 2 x64, possibly back to XP Pro 32-bit if I continue having issues with x64, mostly application compatibility)
Wifi card - Broadcom b/g WLAN card

Any suggestions would be greatly appreiated. Thanks!

I use an external USB HD which contains my Backing Tracks recorded through Cubase.

I transfer as MP3 files to Karaoke Creator software and add the lyrics. the resultant ,BIN file I use as an on stage lyrics monitor because I have a terrible memory.

I have a problem with my on stage portable and need to use the external drive on another computer.

The drive has an operating system assigned drive letter G. and all the files are locked to this Path

The computer I want to use does not have drive letter G available because it was once assigned to a second CD/DVD drive.

How can I unlock this assignment. do I have to refit the CD/DVD drive and re-assign it to another letter

I installed a new disk into a machine and left the old disk as back up. I set the new disk to master and the old disk to slave. I then used ghost and took an image of the old disk and put it directly onto the new disk. Here is the problem.

The old disk maintained the C and D drive letter and the new drive with the system partition is G. I can play with the registry to change the system drive to C, but this will create several problems.

If I take an image of the new disk and then reapply it without the old disk in the machine which is using the C letter assignment used by windows, will the disk get the correct letter assignments? If this works correctly, it should also update the shortcuts and everything.

Hi,

Here is the problem. You can't change the disk you are booting from, so you have to do a work around.

For example, if you can boot (don't know if you can) from the D drive and have the old disk in as slave, then you can probably change the old drive to maybe F or some unused letter. Then put that drive that you changed to the boot drive position (boot from the F drive) (assuming it keeps that letter you assigned it) With the new drive (now D) in as a slave, you can assign it an unused letter like C:, then when you put it back in as boot drive, you have accomplished what you want. Long process, but it works most of the time. I assume you know the process of changing the letter assignments, but if you don't let me know.

Don't forget, you have to deal with the boot drive in BIOS setup also so it selects the correct one to boot from.

Hi folks,

Trying to sort out a weird one here. Have a new motherboard in an old pc, with a clean os re-install on a new hdd (effectively a brand new pc), that for some unknown reason is picking up a foreign ip address for the integrated ethernet port every time the system boots.

The network connection is set to auto assignment via dhcp, the dhcp server is working just fine, as is everything else on the lan. If one "repairs" the connection, it picks up a correct ip address from dhcp and works fine. If one just leaves it alone, it eventually will get the right information and start working - but up to 20 minutes after the pc has been booted. Every boot, I am getting errors that network shares can't be mounted, and update servers can't be found etc. etc. It's just a complete pain to have to repair the connection, and re-establish all the network related linkages every time.

The address being chosen is always 169.254.91.143 with netmask 255.255.0.0 This address, and even the ip range it's in, has never existed on the local lan, even if there were some way for it to have been copied from somewhere.

I've not been able to find any reference to that ip address anywhere on the system, other than ipconfig when the system is faltering.

Any clues more than welcome....

Configuration is: MSI K9N6PGM2 motherboard (using integrated lan port, and XP drivers from MSI), AMD Phenom Quad core 9550+ processor, Win XP Home SP2 os

A:Weird IP assignment issue...

That is the default Automatic IP address that Windows assigns to an adapter that is not getting an IP address from the DHCP server. Try updating the drivers for the adapter.

Troubleshooting a corrupted drive, so installed it on a working PC as a slave. Got it working long enough to pull the data. Drive letter assigned was "M". Shutdown, removed drive, boot. Drive letter was STILL showing up.
-Tried Disk Management in WXP, no luck.
-Tried command line removal, no luck.
-Used TweakUI to remove the drive from the list, which is great, but I still cannot assign "M" to any other device. I can live with it, but I'm curious if anyone has a solution.

Hi There!

The only guarentee of resolving you delemma would be to format and Reinstall Windows. That can be alot of work, but if you're having system issues and such, wiping the drive and reinstalling windows should resolve most id not all of the problems.
Good Luck!

Hey everyone! Here's what the situation is:

I have a brand new hard drive. I set up a Dell Utility partition using the disk from Dell. Once that was done, I installed Windows XP Home on the unallocated partition. Everything set up just fine, but now the hard drive doesn't have the letter assignment I want. If you do the DISKPART command, the partition with Windows on it shows as C. When you boot your system and actually use Windows though, the hard drive shows up as I. Why don't they match? I want my drive to be C. What do I need to do to change it to C? I know I can't use the disk management tool because of the whole system volume thing.

Would I need to use the Windows Repair or the full installation? I have not added any programs to the computer because I wanted to get this issue resolved first. I saw instructions on Microsoft for "How to restore the system/boot drive letter in Windows". It says you shouldn't use it unless the drive somehow changed names on its own. I don't know if it's safe to follow or not. The instructions were at: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188

Please help. I want to be able to get my desktop up and running again. Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

It's my first post here so go easy on me!

I've a fair knowledge of all things windows, but this one has me stumped.

If i hold "space" and tap "AltGr", then "MySQL Query Browser" launches. It's as if i assigned a shortcut to it.

However - i didn't ever assign this shortcut, and to the best of my knowledge, you can't have the space bar as the first part (hold down) of a shortcut anyway.

More Info:
Space + AltGr = MySQL Query Browser
AltGr + Space = Nothing

Ctrl + Alt + Space = Nothing
Ctrl + Space + Alt = MySQL Query Browser

Alt + Ctrl + Space = Nothing
Alt + Space + Ctrl = MySQL Query Browser

Space + Ctrl + Alt = MySQL Query Browser
Space + Alt + Ctrl = MySQL Query Browser

Any ideas how i can unassign this? It's not a hindrance as the Mysql windows are easily closed, but it is annoying that i can't figure out why it's happening or how to stop it.

OS is 7x64.

Thanks for reading,
Jon
